Hello - before anyone asks yes I am new here.

I've been playin GT for years - and have completed GT1, 2, GT3 to 99%; GT3-concept and GT4 prologue.

I have a few things to ask concerning suspension geometry, but I can't find the answers...

Firstly - toe settings. It's all very well saying "Add a little bit of toe-out to reduce understeer" BUT how do you do this in the game itself?? I only have a 15" TV and so I cannot see the little symbols clearly enough to tell whether it says "+" or "-". So is toe-out a negative or positive number in the game??

Equally for camber - the angle at which the wheel lies relative to vertical. I cannot make out the symbols, and am confused both to which way to change the setting and the effects. It seems that positive camber inclines the top of the wheel inward, seemingly the opposite of real-life terms (or is my degree-lecturer mistaken?). Help here would be appreciated.

Yes I have read the M-spec pocket guide, but the distinct lack of punctuation makes it very difficult to follow... nor does it tell you how to apply the set-up in the game itself.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Ren

Welcome to GTP.

Not much time so I'll just be blatantly brief.

The Camber setting in GT3 is for negative inclination of the wheel (the only sort of camber you'd actually want on a car). The numbers are positive on the screen but don't let that bother you.

As to Toe, as I often seem to say when discoursing this game, there are two schools of thought. For myself, I think that negative Toe numbers are Toe Out and Positive Toe numbers are Toe In. Others feel differently. It's largely redundant tho' as Toe is only of use when a chassis is really compromised and you can't get it to behave well using other suspension adjustments. In other words, you shouldn't need to use it much.

Hope that helps.

thanks its something to be getting on with...

the approach of GT4 means i need to get back in the swing of things. Just annoying that Europe always gets a stupidly late release-date. At this rate I'll get GT4 when the guys in Japan complete the game. twice over.

Cheers!!
