Suzuka Endurance Race - Which car?

I can't decide what car I should use for this endurance ... The FGT I find a pain to drive so I don't fancy 170-ish laps in that, then again, I don't want to be using my Ferrari F430 Scuderia as that laps at 2.00 so that'll take ages. I just don't know what would be best. I tried the Mazda Furai over a few laps and that seems like more of a pain aswell.

Any suggestions or any opinions on what car you used for it?
 
I'm going to use the Minolta for A-spec and the FGT for B-spec :)
 
I haven't got my Minolta now, traded that off as I didn't really ever need it.

Any other suggestions?

I agree on the FGT for B Spec though.
 
is that race level 30? Red Bull X2010 is the only answer... you can cruise around in it in about 1:15 or put your foot down for lap in 1 minute... :drool:
 
The Ferrari would keep it close as the opponents run Super GT cars so it depends if you want to finish the race fast or competitive.

The Furai might be overkill here as the avg. time for the AI is 2:09-2:15 best lap and somewhere between 2:09 and 3:20 as the overall range (higher number calculating pitstops into the equation).
 
I will never use the X2010 for anything other than the Indy 500! I do not need that car for anything else!

The Ferrari does keep it close, but I can't be bothered being close to the AI for 175 laps. I just want something quick that I can easily win with that I can actually enjoy driving. Is the Lamborghini Diablo Nomad that car does anyone think? I've bought it but never raced it thus far?

I think I might take the Toyotoa GT One round the track and see how that goes, but I know that is tail happy aswell so not sure I'll go for that one.
 
The Nomad Diablo is actually a JGTC car, so it won't have a massive advantage over other cars, would still win comfortably though.
 
I might try that then as I've been waiting to give it a decent run after buying it the other week.

Sorry for the potential noob question but whats a JGTC car?
 
JGTC = Japan GT championship, the predecessor of Super GT, which feature the cars you are racing against, so the spec is similiar.
 
oh right! Thanks for that! That might make it a fun race then!

Dunno then, might just forget about the lap times and just go for a similar car and make a race of it!
 
You might want to think about the weather, quite a few people have have rain in the Suzuka 1000kms..

I had a wet race for the first 112 laps (4 1/4hrs)..

BUT I was lucky because I had chosen the HKS Evo 230R for the race...the 4wd gave me a massive advantage and I was 7 laps ahead when the rain finally stopped..

One guy on this forum had rain the entire 172 laps..

Just something you might want to take into consideration..
 
Oh thanks for that! :P I'd decided on the Castol Tom's Supra aswell! Now I'm thinking I should consider the 5.2 Audi R8 just incase it does rain? I wish we could slip between Manual & Auto during the race just incase it does rain. I thought it would be either a wet race or a dry race, I didn't know you could have a mixture of weather.

Back to the drawing board lol ...
 
Ooooh wait, in the case of the 4WD argument then, who reckons I should go for the Tommy Kaira ZZ-II? Would that be quick enough do you think?

you're making that race something like it's a 24 hours or something... just buy a SUPER GT or LMP1 car and win the race...
 
Sorry for wanting to have a car that I'll enjoy racing on such a boring track. Considering it has the potential to be around 4 - 6 hours of racing it, is what I consider, a long race and a large chunk of time so I want a car I'll like! Please butt out if you cant actually help with procedings thank you :)

Made me chuckle..

Tommykaira is a fantastic car, the light weight should help with tyre wear, I'm presuming, but I don't know that for a fact..

It should be fast enough, even in stock trim it's 550bhp and 1000kgs, so straight away you'll have a power to weight advantage over the AI cars.

But you're right, the Suzuka race you do need something that'll keep you interested as it's quite long..

Another thing to consider, the race is long and you can't change the oil, so by the end of the race your car might be 20-30bhp down. If you choose a brand new 0.0 mile car, then during the race your engine will get run in, this will produce more bhp the longer the race gets and compensate you for the power reduction owing to poor oil condition.

I just used a stock Nissan Motul Autech GTR. Straight forward race till it started to rain right after my final pitstop:ouch: Luckily it was only light, so I just left the warm slicks on:tup: Won by 7 laps, just cruising really
 
best advice i can give you? well... get a premium car so you can at least get inside and count the stiches on the steering wheel during the race... :dopey:

What to choose what to choose what to choose ... I'd quite like to use the Tommy Kairra, shall have to try it see if it can keep pace. The new car idea is quite a good one, I have been thinking of getting an Enzo so this might be a good time to get one?

Shall give the Tommy K a run after Bobs finished and go from there.
 
I am currently running this race in B-Spec, and I am using the Toyota Race Car from 1970s. It is incredibly light and averages about 2:02.xxx per lap. (The race will still take approximately 6 hours to complete, assuming no rain!) I hope it goes well!

I hate to say it, but he's right, this really does get quite monotonous, possibly only the Tsukuba 9hr is worse..

The worst thing about it is that suzuka is quite a technical track, so you don't get much chance to ever relax, or have a breather..

Enzo? GO FOR IT! :) I ran it in B-Spec with a Stealth GT-R, will not be doing the A-Spec version of the race, good luck and have fun with it.
 
Just did this event in A-spec a little over 4 hours with the x1. (no rain).

I ran about 1:15:xx - 1:2x:xx, comfortably, w/o pushing the car (Also using the DS3 -_-)

Depending on how you like to play the choice is up to you. Get a fast car and try to finish it fast, or get a decent car and make it more competitive. Also the Enzo would be a great choice, lol.
 
I was thinking the Enzo ... But then I remembered that everyone likes to rave over that Corvette ZR-1 C6 (Race Modded of course) so I bought one last night and had a quick run with it and I love it! So easy to drive even in the wet! So I'm going to use that for the Suzuka Endurance, was going to do it this morning but I had the NFL recorded (Patriots Vs. Greenbay) so I'm watching that whilst Bob 1,2,3 & 4 races Tsukuba 4 Hour, not looking forward to the race though, I've never really enjoyed racing around Suzuka to start with, ahh well, hopefully the four hours on Nurburgring will be a better race for me and make Suzuka worth it :P

(I can't use the Diablo Nomad btw as I just wanted to drift it continually, not good for the tyres lol!)

Thanks for the discussion though everyone, it's led me to try cars I usually wouldn't bother with for such a race.
 
Did you check the GT4 forum race reports. The question is do you want a guaranteed win, or a good race? There are lots of alternatives. Me, I want to enjoy the game, so i will race something that may or may not win. If i wanted to race through the game as fast as possible, just blast it like some of the other posters have said. I don't care how long a race is, i bought the game to play it my way, thats right, i'm gonna do all the endurance. Did all the 24 hour races in GT4. Gonna do them here. If i lose, so what, i get to do them again.
 
It's alright saying that but I don't have the time to invest to risk losing the race lol! So I have to go for guaranteed win I'm afraid lol!

Just tried my new Chaparral 2J Race Car around Suzuka but Im not overly keen so Im racing the ZR-1 either tomorrow or day after. Giving Bob a few endurance races for now before I put him in for the FGT series as I need to get the extreme series closed off.
 
I would recommend that a GT500 race car be used for this event. Most of them can win this race without too much trouble.
 
I don't think I have a GT500. Damn Bobs racin again so cant check!
 
We all win the aging 5-speed Nissan Calsonic Skyline '93 in the Extreme Hall Super GT Series. So it seems the logical, frugal and aesthetically plausible thing to do is enter it in the Suzuka 1000km endurance race. PD is giving us a hint, so I took it!

Anticipating stern competition from the Yellow Hat Supra, I outfitted my Skyline with soft tires, a VCD and Stage II turbo. A few laps in free run, and I had my VCD roughed-in at 50%, and the front Diff at 5-5-5. My car was loud, stable and predictable, so I liked my chances.

When I lined up for the race, it was raining heavily, and I glanced with nervous envy at the huge wings and diffusers on the more modern cars. At the off, things got better quickly as my sure-footed 4WD began to build up a multi-lap lead. The Yellow Hat was a bad joke in the rain, and my closest pursuer was an Arta NSX '06. I quickly learned that soft race tires are both quicker and outlast rain tires.

All this was just ducky until shortly after lap 110, when the rain abated. I found myself under attack from the Arta NSX as well as the Takata Dome NSX '06. I was obliged to go off my 25 lap pit schedule as my front tires began wearing alarmingly. Mercifully, rain (light rain this time) began again about lap 125, and the picture stabilized until I was able to bring her home on lap 172 without losing my lead, but not gaining much, either.


The whole 6 hour and 39 minute experience was made tolerable by the 618,815 exp points. But you can believe that if I do this race again for grinding, it will be with a dry start and a more modern car, hopefully still 4WD.
