I just tried in the rain with FGT (b-spec), but every pit stop would switch me back to dry tires and bob skids out every corner. Seems the pit crew could care less about my pit strategy! How do I replace rain tires at every pit? Do I have to babysit every pitstop in b-spec?
BTW, i'll use the calsonic for a-spec. It's been an old friend in GT!
I decided to give this one a go with the my racing modified Speed 6. It's pretty light so I figured I wouldnt have to pit very much. This race was almost too close for comfort though.
It started out raining and I pushed my way into the lead about midway through the first lap. So I was casually racing along and had about a 1 1/2 lap lead through 70 laps when it stopped raining. This made me quite happy. But then out of nowhere the Takata NSX was on my ass. I pushed the car a little too hard through one of the turns and went into the dirt. Takata NSX passed me and just kept pulling away.
I also noticed that my lead was significantly less now. I immediately pit to fit the car with some racing softs. At this point my lead was down to about 1 lap and 15 seconds. I was pretty worried at this point, thinking that I just wasted 2 1/2 hours because I wouldnt be able to keep this lead on a dry track. So I focused and started racing my ass off.
My laps were around 2:04-2:08 and I would gain roughly 1-2 seconds on the Arta NSX per lap. Of course if I made a mistake and got in the sand it would set me back a few seconds. So my lead was nearly at a standstill. I actually gained significant time when I pit because I wouldnt fill my tank completely up.
On lap 166 I finally caught my second glimpse of the Arta NSX! Of course I was so anxious to pass him that I slid into the dirt on the first turn. Eventually he ran into a pack of supras and I ended up passing him on lap 169. I won by 2 laps and 10 seconds. A little closer than I had bargained for but actually made that near 7 hours go by fairly fast.
I've done this race for 30 hours in a row now (in B-Spec) with the Bentley Speed 8 and it works great.
The Super GT cars are not that hard to beat. I lap the second car with 14 laps.
I'm grinding up to 35 to get the X1 and use it in A-Spec.
Ran A-spec race for this yesterday....boy its long....took break every 50-60 min...
I was using a GT500 GTR, unmodified with no assist including ABS, and sure enough its a wet race pretty much the entire way. It was interesting to see the condition changes as part way through I think there is a dryer line as you can tell by the AI car not having spray off the back when running on parts of the track. Can't tell too well from visual side of things but following that means better lap time. But it eventually started pouring again. Its not til the last 10 laps the rain stopped and was really "dry"...
I'm gearing myself up for this event. Have been looking forward to it. My car of choice will be the Takata NSX. Once I bought it I took it for that 10 lap Super GT race around Suzuka to see how she faired and the results we're quite pleasent. It was wet the entire race and by the end had a good 3/4 of a lap lead. So, if it's wet I think my chances may be very good.
Just got done doing this race in my fgt. I was 40 laps ahead of the ai and that's with multiple unnecessary pit stops. In the rain i used the racing intermediate tires as they were way faster than racing rain tires for some reason. I really was zoned out 70% of the race and if I had done the race in anything slower I would have killed myself lol. That is by far the worst endurance race so far IMO.
I love the Nomad, its a "point an shoot" car. adjust the LSD initial to 45-55, just like the Toyota GT one you have, it'll be much "safer" feeling an just as fast overall. slow in fast out. License tests. remember ? In the rain a lower LSD initial setting would be better. I haven't got to the end of the thread yet, but when I do Im sure i'll read this again. I've started this race twice, run tenish laps an stop, not looking forward to it, but 618,000 xp sounds good so i guess you get 580,000 xp for last then. Too, rather this than 9hr Tsukuba,
