Hey, GTS-R_MAN... I just broke 300mph (no wheelie) with the ESCUDO using the advice on this thread. I've been playing GT3 for about 8 months now, and never got above 285 or so (never spent too much time until now). Anyway, here are the settings I have on the ESCUDO (the one awarded for all Rally golds).
ESCUDO
+ Turbo Kit/Stage 4
+ Oil Change
0.0 mi, 1881 hp
Suspension:
Ride Height: Front = 75mm; Rear = 75mm
Camber Angle: Front = 0.0; Rear = 0.0
Drivetrain (here are the changes I made, in the order I made them):
Gear Ratio: Auto Setting = 48; 6th = 0.875; Final = 2.425
Stability:
Downforce: Front = 0.38; Rear = 0.60
ASM = 7
TCS = 2
VCD = 25% Front
All other settings were left alone.
With these settings, you won't "overshoot the power curve". Actually, you'll undershoot it if anything (between 5th and 6th). In English, or, better yet, in playing terms... When the car is getting near 220mph, it will start approaching the 5th to 6th gear shift point for automatic trannys. If you race automatic, letting the car shift too soon won't give the car enough momentum for 6th gear to really kick in. So, just hold down L2 until you see 230 or so, and that should be enough for 6th gear's teeth to bite.
Doing so, you can take the first turn at around 270, coming out anywhere from 270 to 285 (sometimes higher). I managed to print 305 running solo, with a best lap of 1.19.650 (Simulation Mode/Home/Run & Setting/Test Course)... faster times have been run...
Anyway, give it a try, and let us know how things go! Have a great drive everyone!

PS - REMEMBER TO SAVE YER SETTINGS IF YOU MAKE CHANGES(defaults especially).
