There aint many Swedish Cars in the Game coz Swedish cars are crap.
I and probably 99% here probably disagree. Swedish cars are very nice and safe. If they weren't so expensive I wouldn't mind buying one.

Well, I'm fine without any Saabs, but I would've liked to see a Volvo S80, since my uncle owns one. But, more than anything, I'd like for there to be the ultimate Swedish car, which is probably also the ultimate supercar: the Koenigsegg CCR  .

34 posts and thats the best you could do.
neways, i would like to drive a saab or even more volvos, any car added to gt4 except suvs is good to me.

 ...the height of intellectualism... did you know that the world's fastest production car (of the moment) is Swedish? That you can actually buy a Volvo with AWD and 300hp? Go crawl under a rock, caveman... :dopey:

What a beautiful car. I'm kind of surprise it doesn't have a spoiler to keep it from going airbourne at those high speeds.

CCR huh? They even named it after the legendary rock band! Seriously though, it's a very beautiful car.

On Saab deal, couple of good points by 95GTIVR6. 👍 Saab could've gotten free exposure in GT4, and as good looking as those cars are, they would've looked really good in GT4. I suggest we all send emails to Saab website, demanding they join the bandwagon for GT5. It will take just few minutes of your time!

Edit: Here's a copy of message I sent at their website:

I just have a quick comment. In the popular Playstation 2 video game, "Gran Turismo 4", Saab cars are not present. According to the rumors, Saab didn't want to be part of Gran Turismo 4. I know a lot of Saab fans are dissapointed about this. It is also a free exposure your line of automobiles. I would love to see Saab cars in "Gran Turismo 5" which is expected to be released in a couple of years.

Thanks for your time!

Quick side note. I noticed that work of art car above has a drag coefficient of 0.297. What kinda made me think was my parents Lexus LS430 has a drag Coefficient of 0.26.... And there is an option to recess all the workings of the under carriage and make it flat. That causes the car to have a drag Coefficient of 0.25. Now, does that mean that a $60,000 Lexus is more areodynamic than a supercar......than MOST cars? I mena the Lamborghini Murcielago has a drag Coefficient of .027! Am i missing something? :dunce:

wow! you got me there bro!

Imagine the possibilities if they stuffed the Koenigsegg's engine into that, lightened it up, and tweaked a couple other things... a higher record?

Love how the CCR's driver-side door opens. :)

Nope, would not happen.

One of the reasons for the higher drag co-ef on Super-cars like this is to stop them taking off.

With the speeds these cars are capiable of, the aero design needs to be finely balanced to allow it to both cut through the air and to keep it on the ground.

The Ford GT is a good example of this, the design brief for the car was that it should keep to the basic shape of the original GT40. The only problem with this is that the original was tested for areodynamic stability and found to demonstrate high levelsof lift over 200mph. Not really suitable for a road car.

The following is taken from a Ford press release about this subject and the solution.

"Aerodynamics and high-speed stability has been a major focus of the engineering program from the very beginning, when the team first tested an original GT40 in the wind tunnel.

The GT40 exhibited major lift at high speeds, and the team determined that the Ford GT would also have the same issue if care was not taken to attend to the problem. In order to not disturb the exterior design, the engineering team limited aerodynamic changes primarily to the underside of the vehicle. As a result, a subtle rear spoiler extension, front and side splitters and venturi tunnels wrapped under the rear clip are the only visible changes."

These changes, which will help to develop downforce, make the car more stable at high speed, but also increase drag.

The low drag co-ef of the Lexus LS430 and similar cars is as much about fuel economy and NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) reduction as it is speed. In fact given the Lexus obsesion with making cars with class leading NVH this may well be the main reason the aimed for such a low drag co-ef as its limited top speed of 130mph (in the US) hardly requires a drag co-eff this low.

BTW you only get the 0.25 figure if you go for the Variable air suspension, which I would imagine (as you say) has fewer exposed components than the standard or Euro-spec (I do love that) suspension.

As the Lexus web-site says

Aerodynamic drag coefficient: 0.26 with standard suspension or available Euro-tuned Sport Suspension (0.25 with available Adaptive Variable Air Suspension)

Ohhhh Thanks a lot for clearing that up! Lexus (and some Toyota's) have extrememly quiet interiors and extrememly smooth rides. Almost to the point of you feeling isolated from the rest of the world. Kinda boring really.

Lexus's company slogan is "The Passionate Pursuit of Perfection". Personally, i think perfection is on both sides of that spectrum. It should have a wonderfully smooth ride, but it should also have sme sportyness to it. All the car magazines can complain about are how the Lexus's and Toyota's VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) Is over powering and pretty much ruins all sporty fun. Not a perfect car to me. :yuck:

BUT then again, i am a BMW 7 series Fan......at least befor iDrive......
