Ok, this brings up a question I was asking a while back that no one was ever able to answer for me. Every car I can think of that is on the race course (Formula 1 aside ....) has a street production model. Except for the 787B! I have yet to see any hard evidence that this car was ever in a street model.

Thoughts?

Maybe Mazda couldnt make it due to costs of its production, I really have no clue about the 787b since I was 6-7 when it won LeMans.

Man, that makes me feel old. But I'm really only six years older than you (: Unfortunately ... my question remains unanswered. Maybe someone else will wonder along and bring forth knowledge unto our little discussion board. Or maybe I'll just go looking for answers on the Google.

Nope, never a 787B street car. I don't think that they could make it street legal, because of the emissions of 4 rotors. Sure, It'd be cool, but no.

And Mazda made that 792 P, and there's no road version of it either.

Mazda needs to come out with another 787, or something of the sort, because as of now, they have no lemans car.

And that's that.

I thought the 792P was going to LeMans?

About the engines, most sup`ed up race cars run on different engines than the street cars. Usually they're just heavily modified versions, but they're still not the ones that come off the production line. I could see a similar body style on the street with maybe a 3-rotar N/A rotary engine under the hood (err ... trunk). I don't know how well a boxy car like the 787 would sell though, and it would be very expensive. They'd have to tone down the 'race ready-ness' of it and make it look like a consumer automobile.

There are no road going versions for the prototype class.... Including the Audi R8 R8R and R8C... None of the LMP have any road going versions
