SOAD rules. Great stuff, some people put them down right when they hear 'em but if you listen to them and realize how complicated the lyrics and beats are, you start to appreciate them more.

I liked them up until "Boom", I can't shake this feeling that the whole getting on the peace/protest bandwagon was just some marketting bit. I know their background and ****, but it just seemed so unnatural to do something like that.

When I first started to listen to music, I classified SOAD along with RATM as one of those crap hard rock bands (You will never find me listening to Slipknot or Korn however).

However I've just bought 2 RATM albums and am currently downloading some SOAD.

I have Shimmy, Toxicity and Aerials, all of which are superb. I really wanna find Chop Suey which I've heard about. Whats a good song of SOADs to recommend?

I bought the album with "Toxicity" on it, based on hearing that and "Chop Suey" on the radio. I won't say I was disappointed in it, but it was different than I expected. I've got nothing aginst hard thrashy stuff, but it kind of seems that just when they get something decent going, the always want to wreck it. I don't have the CD at hand, Rossell, or I'd recommend a few more tracks. One in particular has a really cool bridge in the middle, but again, unfortunately, it's just getting up some steam when they go off on some atonal tangent.

I haven't heard "Boom" - I don't really listen to commercial radio.

Chop Suey is a dark tune, in a good way. I love the craziness of it, but also the really sweet harmonies (damn i hate being a music student :() near the end :)

Yeah, that's the best part of the song, when it gets towards the end. Freakishly cool and darkly creepy at the same time.

Excellent. :mischievous:

System are pretty good.
Although they did take a bit of time to grow on me, although most of my favorite system songs are on the first album (Sugar, Spiders etc). They do a great cover of Black sabbaths Snowblind though and yeah I thought 'boom' was a right load of old bollocks (not the user called bollocks).

System is awesome.
I love all of their CDs. Their self-titled one especially.
"Sugar","Innervision", and "Toxicity" are among my favorite songs.

bleh, SOAD( suck on a .... ) was never one of my favorites, they were too,.. too... too screamy, and there lyricks just plain sucked

acttualy i didnt come up with that, my friend( whom i now currntly hate, as he totaly scratched up my radiohead HTTT cd and got this one chick to hate me) whos a "hardcore" SOAD fand came up with that

I think they're best album has to be Toxicity IMO. I never really got into any of their other albums. And "boom....". Hmmm. That is quite different for them. Way different style. When I first saw it I was like "what are they trying to jump on the whole Rage protest thingy". Don't get me wrong Rage are my fav band atm and the rebillion thing worked with them but it doesn't quite fit with SOAD.
And spock I feel your pain! I'd be pretty razzled off if one of my mates destroyed one of my Radiohead albums. Although I am pretty razzled off with one of my mates, because of Radiohead. He said he'd get me tickets along with his to go and see them up in London. He got his tickets but not mine annd by then they'd sold out:mad: . Bstard!

Radiohead sucks, I tried to listen to That one video they have released recently but the music sucks. Don't be listening to
Radiohead, listen to metallica instead.

Yep, I'm with Spock on this one. Metallica don't exactly float my boat either, but do you listen to me going round saying how they suck, no. Just a matter and taste of opinion. And also if they sucked so badly can you just tell me why they are so big??? Infact I'd say they're probably one of the biggest bands around at the moment. :odd:

man u guys should download some "disturbed". thats the name of the band by the way. its simmilar but better........soad is old compared to this

Try some of their old new songs. "Innervision" and "Streamline" are my very favorites. "Highway Song," "Mr. Jack," and "Thetawaves" are also good.

Also try some older stuff like "Spiders" and "Metro".

I like Disturbed, but I think SOAD put a bit more thought into their music/lyrics. Also SOAD's singer (Serj something?) has a realy unique style to it.
