Has anyone put a alternative covering over the T-500 steering wheel? Mines starting to look old, lots of scuffs and scratches in the rubber. Was thinking of some stitched leather, but I wonders how fatter the wheel will get and is it comfortable to hold?

You could also just get a leather cover for the wheel, however I don't know if that's cheaper than one of Derek's wheels. You shouldn't have any problems by getting one a little "fat" so to say, and it should be comfortable. :)

I don't know about that. The GT wheel is really small compared to a real wheel. I never found a cover that would seem to be acceptable.

Then I decided I would do it myself and ordered some suede and leather from amazon. After seeing how much work it would be, and the difference in feel, I decided the plastic wasn't so bad after all :lol.

@Paul you forgot to order some foam there I think. Which would make it a bit nicer to grab.

@OP I suggest buying a DSD adapter as Carson said above. Putting a proper wheel on the T500 makes all the difference.

A flat dish wheel of 350mm means that you are still able to use the fixed paddle shifters. If you grab a bigger diameter wheel or one with a deep dish, than this will distance you too far from the shifters.
So please take that into consideration when getting one.

FFB worries are not necessary with bigger wheels. You will be surprised how much power the T500 actually has.
If you still have weight concerns than stay at around 850 grams of weight for just the steering wheel. The DSD adapter including supplied screws weigh 150 grams. So that will make the total weight 1000 grams, while the original 300mm GT wheel weighs 1050 grams.

Thanks for the suggestions, I remember seeing someone recover their GT wheel can't find the post.

Does anyone know what the Sparco Faster racing wheel weighs and it's size? Seen here

Can't seem to find detailed specs.

Also seeing that video is the leather on the Sparco softer than Momo wheels? I have to rely on viewing and judging them on the net, in NZ most retailers don't hold stock and only order on demand.

I remember someone posting a BMW style redo. But he took it into a shop and paid a lot for it. I don't think it was any cheaper than buying a Sparco or Momo if I remember right.

Gives at least 1hp more in each car you drive... lolol

If money is not an issue consider a Sam Maxwell Momo, no adapter needed at all. I paid $500 for my Momo Mod 26C, It is an incredible wheel and brings the T500 to levels never seen before. I think Sam has sold close to 100 wheels now and I have not heard of one unhappy customer.
