I was thinking something a little more um.... how can I out this?

Cubic inches- there is a 1983 dodge truck at my local junkyard, they charge 350 for engine to be taken out, so I think the trucks 460ci will need to shoe-horned in there. But, if that doesnt work out, I just go ahead and put a mustang 5L in it and screw the smog laws

Dodge made a 440 and the Hemis. The 440 was the largest V8 engine they made, and with all of the smog stuff it was making 225 hp. Mopar parts aren't exactly cheap either.

With a 350 you can make a usable 300 hp with all the smog stuff on it, and for very low bucks. Or the stang 5L is always a good choice.

Take this for instance: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/81-Z...161QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160074677298

opendriver I don't know where in Cali you live specifically but this Camaro already has all the smog crap on it. 👍 This is just an example of what you can find. God I envy you, I want one of those FB's (or an FC for that matter). And I already have my Camaro to donate the engine from. :sly:

Ahem.

Take the plunge.

Those are expensive. I'd love to nab me one if I find another steal like the one I saw in the salvage yard. I'd want to spend less than $1000 on the car itself. I've never used craigslist before, thanks for the link.

Oh and the Mustang 302 is another great engine to modify, and has probably the same or more of an aftermarket than the small block Chevy.

They are nice cars but I don't fit inside of them.

Really? Have you tryied? I am 6'3 and fairly solid and and I didn't have any problems in my friends series 1. (driving and passenger)

I haven't, but my friend (IRL) who is of similar size to me (6', ~180 lbs) said he couldn't get comfortable in one. I suppose I could fit, but I need a certain amount of space to feel like I'm not a sardine.

I kind of have a little issue with head room. Im about 6'2 and my head is about 1/4 of an inch away from the top of the ceiling.

A bit of an udate, so:

I just got done changing the oil pan gasket. Oh boy, that was fun. Had to remove the steering assembly to get the oil pan out. After that, I had to scrape all of the silicone that the other guy used as a gasket (Yeah, thats right, no gasket, just silicone) After about 20 minutes of scraping, I put the gasket on WITH A FEW DABS OF SILICONE and put it back on, reconnect the steering assembly, put the motor mount bolt back in, and THEN I put some oil in it.

:dunce: Well, now thats done. I hope I never have to do that for a long time.

US-24 just west of Florissant, Colorado. Just past the turn for Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, look south from US-24. There's a blue one sitting alone in a field. I guarantee the property owner would give you a good deal.

But how much rust are we talking about? That is after all the land of snow. Plus it would cost me way too much money to get it towed/shipped to Dallas don't ya think? We've got a local group of salvage yards that specialize in certain manufacturers. And there happends to be a Mazda one, and I've seen several FC's and a couple FB's in the past. Hell, I saw an FD without a drivetrain and passenger door that was only $2k. Black one too. I hate being poor.

Don't you just LOVE silicone? I hate that crap, everytime I have to scrape that bull**** off I end up either pissing my brother's neighbors off from the amount of profanity or just saying "**** it" and just buying a new part. I don't have patience with silicone.

But remember it's never humid in Colorado, so cars don't rust. I bet the property owner would be happy to let it go. I only mention because I drove by it once in late May and once again in August, and I have no reason to believe it's not still there. It seemed odd that an RX-7 would be sitting alone in a field in central Colorado.

80's camaro motors are great! (After the EGR and 2 barrel are gone) I got my Biscayne back a couple days ago, and it [the motor] really pulls! Itseems to pull the car around effortlessly with 4000 pounds of weight attached to it. I can't imagine what one would do in such a light car. It would be front heavy though. But rotaries are pretty cool, high output or not.

Congratulations! Have lots of fun with it.

Oh god, I could see it now "Local teen out runs local PD in car chase"

the car itself weight about 2350-2400 LBS and without the motor and all of the other junk that gos with it, I might be able to get it down to 2100 or maybe if I stripped the interior out, 2000 LBS.

What size is you biscane motor?

A little story for all of you:

I went to go reister the car at my local CA DMV and waited there for about an hour (no line) and filling out all of the paperwork to get everything in line to make everything legit to go out and drive it, so the lady puts in the VIN and types on the keyboard for about 5 minutes straight. Not the person I bought it from but the person before that, had gotten to into a fender bender (car got backed into) and it was deemed a "salvage title" and I had to pay 312 bucks in 3 years of fees.

.......

ideas?
