Take a guess of where GT's original tracks reside.

I always got the sense that Complex String would be in Germany, as well as the test courses, especially since Volkswagen has that massive one.

As for Parnelli's idea that Autumn Ring is in Western PA, I can say as a native of Pittsburgh that Autumn Ring always seemed like Japan to me.

I also always thought Ice Arena was somewhere in Canada.

I think Ice Arena is based off of Whistler, its a little resort about 200 KM from my place.

As for the rest of the originals, I'm certain their inspiration is taken from Japan. Tracks like trail mountain and deep forest remind me of the famous mountain passes (touges) of Japan. Not to mention the Japanese love carving tunnels through mountains, something that is evident in just about every original track (Trail Mountain, Deep Forest, Grand Valley just to name a few).

Biggest reason I say that is for the same reason why the game has 650 Japanese cars, access. I mean they don't have to go far to get inspiration for these tracks.

Trial Mountain has a monkey, and a large lake with a prehistoric monster, which makes it a little hard to place.

I remember reading about some lake monster in Africa (perhaps the Congo) so perhaps it's there?

Are you referring to Mokèlé-mbèmbé? If so, it's not a lake monster like Nessie, but rather a sauropod dinosaur, according to the descriptions given by the natives, and doesn't reside in a lake. Nessie isn't a dinosaur, as plesiosaurs aren't dinosaurs.

Oh man...I have still yet to make my to make my way to Whistler to snowboard. Was in Vancouver for UFC 115 last June though...great city.

Trial Mountain is somewhere in India/Asia

is your name from City of God?

As far as the tracks...Autumn Ring is in Pennsylvania? Thats news to me. I agree with the Deep Forest/Germany thing.

 That's an idea that would grab my vote for next track update.....Trial Mountain with weather change...HOW AWESOME !
Sorry to venture o/t, but would weather change be a huge update per track..? Just curious. 👍

Only separate wet-weather driving line, wet tarmac textures and the dynamic sky. Oh, and dynamic shadows. So potentially, we could have weather and day/night on all tracks, given that the most intensive circuit (Nürburgring 24 hr) has these things, and still has massive view distances. Personally, I can't wait. :D

Ha ha, I live in Maryland. Autumn Ring has those older, almost hill-like mountains in the background, kinda like the Appalachians, rather than newer mountains that are still shaped like peaks (Mt. Fuji, for instance)

Monkeyat trial mountain... Did I miss something or are you guys saying thiers animals in GT5 (I know about the dog in photomode but this is news to me)

Cape Ring has the same speed limit signs as Tokyo R246, so it's in Japan too... Probably in the Mount Aso area

I think all of the original courses in GT1 are probably just based on Japanese tracks and roads. Those are the ones that the development team would have been familiar with.

I miss Apricot Hill...where in GT5 is Apricot Hill !!

also Pikes Peak Hill climb...

Is it me or the Rallye part in GT5 is pretty boring compared to the others ?? I also miss the Thaiti tracks !!!

Um. Didn't they run the French nationals at Tahiti Road?

Hmm, don't remember, actually. I remember the Regional versions of Grand Valley were from the Euro league, and there were 4 flags associated with it, France being one of them...Spain being another I think. But now I'm forgetting exactly how the Nationals were set up.

I'd better fire up my GT2 disc at home later and get back to you on this.

SSR7 - Tokyo
SSR5 - Tokyo
Trial Mountain - In my GT World, the original Trial Mountain is in Hokkaido, Japan, but its design was copied to be used in Colorado, USA.
Grand Valley Speedway - Japan, because seeing as Honda have Suzuka and Motegi, and Toyota have Fuji, Nissan should have at least one circuit.
Cape Ring - France or Japan (from the road markings)
Deep Forest Raceway - Germany
High-Speed Ring - Britain - used as Aston Martin's test track for FIA-GT race cars

Grand Valley was England/UK in GT2, not France. Midfield was Japanese, Deep Forest was German, and Trial Mountain was UK. Can't remind the others.

Should Cape Ring be South Africa - given the name? 💡

Special Stage Route 11.

I'd say Downtown LA. Always remided me of that. Just missing the iconic buildings.

I'd say that Grand Valley would be somewhere in the US, possibly near the Colorado mountains.

Downtown LA? Really? :dunce:
