Looking at it I notice tons of vents on the system I guess MS learnt its lesson  Oh and it no longer uses a proprietary hard drive system, so its totally upgradable with a standard SATA drive, finally!

Still has the horrid power brick although its more like a laptop one now.

Robin.

Will I be able to do a trade-in?

I was actually wondering if current 360 owners have a RROD and send it in to MS will they be able to get a new 360 unit back if its under warranty or get a subsidizeed one if they pay to fix and trade the old one in (like Sony are offering).

Robin.

To some people, it is, and Microsoft is willing to make that gamble by buying up the exclusive rights. There are franchises that I would switch platforms for due to exclusivity. It all depends on what you like and what you're willing to pay for.

You've gotta separate what your preferences are and what would probably be that of the "average consumer."

Timed exclusive content? Really? Not speaking about games, just content that will show up on another system. I would just wait if I had only a PS3. Not shell out for a new system. The average consumer may not even care or even know. GTA was a big deal I'll admit but not the CoD deal.

Great pics Robin. Oh i see chrome, wonder where they got that idea.

From the (then) Premium 360. :p

It'd be awesome (okay, not really) but it'd be different if the trim were like powder coated.

Wi-Fi? Useless feature in my opinion. Wireless + online gaming = Lag. Always go with the cable. 50 foot isn't that long. The one i'm using on my laptop is 15 metres, which isn't far off :)

Is that it, or is there any other features?

Are they charging the same price or are they increasing it? I'm betting the CPU and GPU have been reduced to 45nm in the process too, which makes it cheaper for them to make... I bet they'll charge more than the current models, because they're Microsoft.

Other than that, There is 2 more additional usb slots. and 250gb hardrive
There's no faceplate compatability,
No harddrive compatability (With existing hard-drives)

Anyone here thinking about getting an xbox 360,
My first advice: Dont.
However, If you actually go ahead and try one out, I Highly suggest you just get a regular 360 elite, The packages they have at retailers now usually have up to 4 games (Loads coming with forza if your looking for a (bad) alternative to GT) and comes with controllers and ethernet cables. Especially if your planning on using an ethernet anyways, I highly suggest not wasting your money on it and just getting a Holiday 360 Elite Package at your local retailer.

I am really failing to see much of a size difference on the comparsion shots. It is hardly slimmer, it is a little shorter with the removal of that harddrive thing but it is almost just as thick. Wtf?

I just saw the Microsoft video on this on Xbox Live, and yes, I guess it is $299........ Where is the Blu-ray player, man? :D I thought for sure, it would be $250, tops. With additional $50 going towards XBL subscription, it is still overpriced IMO.

Your Elite is obsolete....... The slim PS3 does look cheap, thats how they save money. MS clearly used the money they saved on the chipset to avoid dropping the price.

The price is still a big issue. I don't see any vast improvement... It's not that much smaller, cooling hasn't been as much of an issue since 65nm chipsets were incorporated into it... So this offers a quieter fan, a couple of extra USB ports (Like you need them, really), Wi-Fi and a regular SATA HDD. Which means if you already have an Xbox 360 you can't just swap them around, you have to go to the trouble of copying data over. Good luck getting past all the copy protection MS put into their system, you will probably have trouble simply transferring your gamesaves.

They held back a price drop, and now they have released the new one at the same price. Add Live into the equation and MS have lost their biggest selling point, as Sony have now undercut them at the point of sale. Great job Microsoft 👍

You could have said any smart phone released in the last year too. There is chrome on it but not chrome "trim".

Only good one I can find.
That is how the 360 should have looked day 1. Why the heck they created the white ugly brick is beyond me. This looks much better. When my 4th 360 dies I will be buying one of these to set next to my black PS3.

I didn't know that.

<---- Doesn't own a cell phone.

[EDIT]
Will I Buy One?

Probably. While currently considering buying a new HDD, I realize that I'm more than halfway to the new unit, so I'd rather go the distance.

Exactly the same for me. I need a new HDD (500mb left!) and I might aswell go the distance and get a quieter one that matches my TV and PS3, and is quieter with built in WiFi. Oh, and it's Kinect ready! 👍

It won't; I'm sure MS learned their lesson.

I hear the death lights will be purplish now instead of red, then fading to a total blackout. :sly:

Microsoft should have learned their lesson after the very first batch of 360's was released, then fixed it. My guess is the new one will suffer the same problems as the other ones. Face it - the 360 is synonymous with unreliabilty, and always will be.

While newer models can still get the red ring of death, they are much more reliable now. We don't have any idea on the reliability of this new model, but I'd expect it to be just as good as PS3 now. I hope my PS3 Slim is better than my old 40GB. It suffered from the laser failure(warranty) & yellow light of death!

How did you go from assumption to then basing that assumption on "facts"? :odd:

Is it really as quiet as Micro$oft claims?

Regardless, I will probably get one when my '06 360 finally dies.

lol yup, I got a june '06 manufactured 360 and it hasn't had any motherboard failure of any kind. Only things gone wrong is the DVD drive (one and a half times so far lol) and the original 20gb HDD died (lost 4 years of saves :'( )

Kind of makes me wish I waited another year to buy one. but oh well. I guess I could always trade it in, and take a hit in order to upgrade.
