Can't believe there's no thread on this yet. What have you people been doing for 25 years?!
Created by comedian "Little" Alex Horne as a show for the Edinburgh Fringe, Taskmaster is now a TV show in its 21st season in the UK - with the UK show broadcast internationally and with 11 local versions in countries like Australia, Denmark, and Portugal (as well as others that have been discontinued).
The premise is that five comedians (and television personalities) are set challenges - the Tasks - with sometimes specific and sometimes vague (and sometimes downright cryptic) instructions.
Some tasks have hidden solutions, some have addenda (often kept secret until the participant has done the first part), and sometimes they're only set for one person unknown to them or anyone else. Examples of tasks include:
The majority of tasks take place within the Taskmaster House, with the participants filming all of their attempts separately (usually on different days) so that none knows how or what the others did, with the exception of Team Tasks that split the five into a team of three and a team of two. Some tasks also take place on location, and each show has a final Live Task that takes place in the studio - where the five also get to see each other's attempts at the other tasks for the first time.
Their attempts are rated by the Taskmaster, sometimes on objective criteria (task completion, time) and sometimes on vibe, usually from five points to the winner down to one point for the worst effort. Each show starts with a "Prize Task", which requires the contestants to bring in an item from home (usually, right Jenny Eclair?) to a set theme, and the winner of that episode wins all five items. The overall winner of the series wins a trophy in the shape of the Taskmaster's head - lifesize.
For the UK show there's also been several Champion of Champions episodes, featuring the winners of the previous five series in a face-off for a trophy comprising the rest of the Taskmaster's body (again lifesize) to complete the set.
Every episode (except CoC2) of the UK show is available on YouTube also:

- Paint the best picture of a horse whilst riding a horse (best picture of a horse wins)
- Get this potato into the golf hole; you may not touch the red green (fastest wins)
- Snort, then blow a raspberry, then whistle, then repeat for a minute (most completed cycles wins)
- Buy the best present for the Taskmaster. Here is £20 (best present wins)
- Tie yourself up as securely as possible; slowest to be released wins - running concurrently with "when you hear this siren in a future task, get into a boiler suit and lie on the ground", unknown to the contestants
- Build the tallest tower out of cans (highest tower wins)
