It would be best if the case was:

Buy a car that has TCS/ASM in real life and it will have it stock.

Buy a car that doesn't have TCS/ASM in real life, and you have to buy it as a mod.

Here's a question, though. Does the ATESSA ETS system on the GT-R count as TCS? I would think it does, but I may be wrong.

I'm not an expert on ATESSA, but I don't think it qualifies as TCS. ATESSA is mainly focussed on the torque splitting centre differential. There is actually no physical braking/retardation system to prevent wheelspin. Apparently skylines can get quite tailhappy until the ATESSA kicks in, because under normal circumstances it runs something like 95 - 5 rear - front split. Once the centre differential begins to activate, it can then proportion power up to a locked 50 - 50 split.

For the ATESSA system to be classed as TCS it would have to possess some means of stopping wheelspin. Brake activation is one way, engine retardation is another, as well as active rear and/or front differentials (like the centre diff) that lock when the wheels spin.
 
I use TCS when I'm racing and I can't afford to spin out a couple of times.It comes in handy when your racing.I had my 345ish HP 300zx on the complex string with both ASM & TCS off it is almost impossiple drive around a corner with out sping out when comeing out of the corner.

Safe...but robs you of the fun of progressive oversteer.

I'd definitely rather race without TCS. Since my last post I've turned it off everything, including the Speed 12. The Speed 12 is pretty scary without it, but it is useable. I can lap faster with it turned on, but it's more satisfying to drive without, and I'm getting better.

That beast sure is good for learning throttle control!

You're in school to learn things - like use of the English language - not to piss around on internet sites, showing off your blatant lack of education.
 
Ah, harsh but fundamentally fair I think.

However, Mr Drifter caught the cane a little severely perhaps, considering that his infraction was quite small.

@RX-7 - I think you paid the price for the slew of appalling posts that've been infecting the board of late (which seem to particularly eminate from younger members who are actually in school but choosing not to learn anything whilst they are there :p).

It's probably best not to get me started on the subject of declining educational standards and the fears I have for the future of society considering how useless graduates seem to be these days ... :lol:

I'd take offence if I were a graduate. But I hold a postgraduate degree, so nyah! :D

Economy cars don't have TCS nor ASM in real life.. at least none that I know of.
at the most, only ABS and/or 1 way LSD -usually reserved for top of the line model.

The Toyota Prius has EBD & ABS... which are inessence ASM...

Also, I stand by what I said about graduates - they give degrees away in Lucky Bags nowadays whereas I had to work for mine :p.

What's your Masters in? If it's a Doctorate, I shall sulk as I've never got around to doing one (and I'm probably too old now (to think of something new that is) :(). FYI I'm M.A. (Mus. Stud.).

As to UKGTP - I might make a run for Sunday but I wouldn't count on it as it's a long haul Down Sarf and I have my High School reunion on Saturday (which is highly appropriate given the subject of the past few posts in this thread :D).

I'm a B.Sc. (Molecular Biology & Genetics; UEA), M.Sc. (Genetics & Human Disease; Sheffield Hallam).

I'm currently working as the senior science technician in a 1000-pupil school. The general plan is to move from there into a similar position in a university in "the future" and wheedle my way back into academia for a Ph.D. eventually.

Hope to see you on Sunday, so we can all marvel at your bizarre button setup again :D

As to UKGTP2, it really depends on:

1) Proportion of agonised, hung-over, brain cells to healthy tissue
2) Health of car plus state of weather {my Cavalier likes to exhibit catastrohic understeer in the wet :scared:}
3) Willingness of Lady S to be abandoned for the day
4) Depth of dead moths and till receipts in wallet in relation to the amount of actual cash

P.S. Whatdo you mean, bizarre button setup!!!?! It's even worse now I drive Manual Box by the way :D).

Ditto that. And now I hear that Sukie is using manual gears, so there's no knowing which unfathomable buttons he's using for his up and down shifts. :crazy:
