Sounds like some bull**** to me.....

Go into the quarter mile test run and do your own tests. Put tcs on and then take it off. See if you can run a better time with your TCS off.

Well, exhaust_note, I always turn my traction assist off when I drive my Thunderbird even in snow. To be honest it scares me to have it on because it feels less predictable. Sure, sometimes you'll end up in slides like yours, even at high speeds, but just always be ready and since you have a Bimmer yo

u know your car is up to the task, so you just have to have confidence at all times. This is just the way I see it. I suggest you keep driving with your T/A off, after awhile you grow to like it better.

Besides, in real life that crap shortens your brake life and 99% of the time it does so unnecessarily! Without it the car will end up losing traction more often but it feels much more predictable.

As for TCS in the game, I think I will try turning it off on some of my cars that I only use for drift, you're right I might as well.

dude... you have no idea... i have 40 series summer tires on a 18inch rim on the car... this car is worse then the 99 corvette just because of the tires... the ASM/TCS never comes on during normal driving and rarely in the rain. I'm def. keeping it on...
going 55 and losing control of the car is scarey as hell... i just can't wait to get the evo...

Try doing 80 and losing control... hittig a curb and doing a 180 over the median and over two lanes of on coming traffic, and land in the last lane... hitting the curb and braking both right axles and then continueing to slide into a traffic control box(I ripped that ***** outta the ground) and then hitting a BMW... now that **** is scarry... but I was knocked out through most of it... so not that scarry. :D

When drifting, why would you have it on? Traction is your enemy.

wrong! traction is your best friend if you are doing drifting. with just a complete loss of traction, you wouldn't be able to drift. if you think I am wrong, why do you think the real life drift pros get the stickiest tires they can find. I will respond more when I get back home. keep cool.

rock.

TCS is better off wether you are racing or drifting. All tcs does is limit the amount of power being transfered to your wheels. The whole point of drifting is to learn how to control the car yourself. At least IMHO it is...

Exactly, thankyou for further cementing my belief. ;)

That's funny, as far as I know it has nothing to do with that.

Whatever happened to style? I still don't think TCS even changes much but I haven't played since I said I'd try no TCS.

No, the power gets to the wheels but the brakes stop it. ;)

It's all good man, and no I am not the best. I just like to give people the best info I can, so everyone can drift to the limits of their skill level. I don't think everyone should follow me, and I don't think I know it all. However, I do have information at my disposal that could help people. I think TCS is a crutch, and I'm gonna stick with that.;)

i was just messin too man haha. good luck

Well lets say two ways to do anything in a car exist... Let a computer be your controls system so you never make a mistake but also never see the full potential of a car, or assume the controls yourself... I think we all know what happens with the latter...

WTF? You basicly agreed with what he said. Do the brakes not stop the power from getting to the ground? I'll go ahead and answer for you........Yes they do. ;)

oh yeah i didnt mention this but the main reason i leave the TCS on is because i do alot of head to head racing. i dont wanna get left behind on the launch so thats why i leave it on. if you put the tcs on 1 it doesnt effect the power and it gives you a good launch. im serious about being fast though, with drifting. Dont believe me ask Night_Drifter. he is the only one who has seen the full extent of my skill.

Yeah, I can see using it in that situation. However, I would still turn it off. I think at this point, I'm so used to it being off, that it would screw with me too much, if it was on.;)

I misread what he said and thought he was saying TCS cuts engine power, which it doesn't. I'm pretty sure I read someone else saying that though.
