After playing for a few battery recharges I think this is a great game. I've downloaded ghosts already and the wallpapers are a nice touch. The world ranking is cool too, you can uplaod your game rankings to see how you compare.

The psp d-pad is troublesome but after a while you adjust and use what works. The gameplay has been tweeked, Kazuya can no longer double stun like in T5. moves are difficult with diagonals but can be executed in the same manor as SF3 Alpha.

The graphics are stunning for a handhled game if you did no it you think you were playing the ps2 version. Audio is as good as ever standard Tekken techno tunes. charactor have smooth animations and nothing was cut here,

35 Charactors, Gameshare, uploadable ghosts and ranking. Its Tekken on the go. The arcade battle and pretty much everything other than graphics and control shceme are better than the PS2 verison.

Gold rush is a cool mode where you gain gold by the amout of damage per attack you do, bt you lose it all if you die before time runs out since the CPU is invincable.

Tekken Bowl is back but its just not fun as it was in TTT. There are manymodes to play that were made for single player gaming on the go and they work well.

Load times are blazing fast from match to match, only music player takes a while to laod.

Worth checking out for Tekken fans or fighting game fans.

I'd love to be excited about this...but no wi-fi is a huge downer for me...so I think I'll pass (btw, I recently got a PSP through a local tournament...I don't play it).

I'll wait for the PS3 tekken, as Tekken + Online are very major to me, I play a lot of Tekken...LOTS.

Right because Tekken has always been the greatest online fighting game.:sly:

I'm sure it will be a hot seller among the non nitpickers.

Tekken DR has a much better chance of going online on the PS3 than it does on the PSP, with that said, I'll reserve my money and wait, rather than play some half assed port on the PSP that doesn't even include a decent two player mode without the extra $300. Yea, I'll definately pass, as Tekken single player is weak sauce, and the PSP D-Pad would last me a week.

That pretty much discribes nearly ever psp title. i know its your opinion but its going to be a lonely island you'll be on with that attitude. Others will agree with you but you are missing the piont of the game, Its portabillity. And Tekken would be far easier on the thumb than Street fighter Alpha 3 a game by the way "fans" love. TDR sould get the same high reguard. Unlike you I'll reserve my opinion on it untill it comes out. You sure like to stress you opinion :grumpy:

I do like to stress my opinion :P But THIS is in direct corralation to my Tekken playing habbits. You seem to not understnad I travel yearly to tournaments to play Tekken, and it is just as hard on the thumbs as Street Fighter, it depends more or less who you play. I'm just going to assume you aren't as die hard for a moment, and let me describe to you some of the requirements of "high level play" with certain character.

Like Kazuya, who has an Electric Wind Godfist, which is similar to his regular god fist, same button input, but between the 1'st motion and button press, you cant have more than 1/25th of a second delay or it won't hit.

I'll just go out on a limb and say I'm pretty sure this will be extremely difficult on a PSP.

So, while I can agree for novelty and the every day fan who has a PSP and might want to play "tekken" on the go, sure it's cool, but IMO, tekken is weak on single player, in fact it's probably the worst single player experience I've ever had in a fighting game. But multiplayer? It's awesome.

No I had no idea you were into tournaments and stuff.

But Die hard multiplayer fans naturally wouldn't like playing alone. But This isnt the first Tekken handheld game. I'm no die hard gamer at all, I just play games. Thats why Xbox360 has not interested me yet. If people are buying SFA3 with no internet play then its more than likely this will sell too. I can under stand your lack of interest.

I think it looks pretty darn good too, but to me, it's easily noticeable where they cut corners, lol, but given the fact that it was either tone it down or kill the battery, I can definately see why they made the sacrifice.

But this only confirms, to me, that Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection is never going to be released on the PS2, and will be released on the PS3.

OK This game is fantastic. Another intsant hit for PSP thanks to Namco. Besides the d-pad and graphics everything about the game is better than the PS2 in the same way GTA:VS stories was. I took it back to blockbuster and baught it with my gift card(game was $4.60 out of my pocket). I played it with my friend last night for 2 hours until the batteris died(wi-fi drain), we were not even in the same room :). If you like Tekken this is a must have ultimate fighting on the go.

I fully agree ... I have been playing the Japanese version (I imported for 40 euros, cheaper than buying it in the store here!) since late June and absolutely adore it.

I personally have no problems with the controls. I can do nearly every move, and the PSP buttons aren't the limiting factor here. I love the various modes, longest infatuation has been with the Command Attack mode, where you have to perform 10 moves - 7 regular and 3 juggle combos - as fast as you can, a bit like a Simon Says concept as the moves are different each time. They're a neat way of learning the moves better, and prepare for learning to use them in a game.

The online rankings are also great, with rankings for most of the game modes and an overall ranking.

And for those who forgot, Tekken really has awesome movelists. Check here, where I recorded most of King's moves:

I've done one to youtube and one to rapidshare, will do all on rapidshare tomorrow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMBdY7nfPak - moves 0-39
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4pCfRv0NJw - moves 40-82
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiyMjT3ov_M - moves 82-112
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AYcx8dRtVQ - a selection from moves 112-176

http://rapidshare.de/files/30041734/M4V10003.MP4.html (0-39)
http://rapidshare.de/files/30038927/M4V10004.MP4.html 40-82
http://rapidshare.de/files/30041735/M4V10005.MP4.html (82-112)
http://rapidshare.de/files/30041736/M4V10006.MP4.html (most of the grapple combos from 112-176)

As you can see these are not even all moves, but certainly nearly all ...
I put the opening screen in the first movie so you can also see load times, this is representative of the load times for this game - they don't get much longer for nicer environments; as you can imagine, the animation data for the characters is likely to be the biggest contribution to the load times. ;)

I have always loved Tekken, but this PSP version of Dark Resurrection must be my all time favorite by far, simply because I have a chance to play this the most often AND it is the best version, with the best selection of characters and game modes (only thing I miss is Tekken 2's first person view hidden mode :D)

You can play it away from home is the thing that stops me from playing the PS2 version. The record keeping is one of the best imporvoment over Tekken 5, in that you had no idea how many fights you've had and the gold reward was minor(an hour to break 100k. TDR 15-20min). Records count in wifi battles too.

There is a ghost battle tournament and the prize is 8,000,000cr to the winner.

Tekken DR is awesome if you ask me. I don't mind single player (even though this is Tekken after all), because at least there's more modes than in T:5.0 and the CPU isn't as dumb. As long as I can be entertained and challenged I don't mind. I don't know if any of you have played VF4: Evo's Quest Mode. That is some challenging single player right there, and Tekken DR's Dojo mode reminds me of it alot.
