You know what they say... if you can't beat them, cheat... We all know about the unrealistic lap times that AI puts up in the first part of the race only to slow down in the end, but I also I noticed before that sometimes AI cars will just... appear... out of nowhere... but I actually got a video now! The yellow Aventador in front is me... the orange car in the video is the AI Aventador that is driving right behind me... as you can see, as we enter the pits, I'm still a few car lengths ahead... but on the pit row, he simply teleported in front of me... it's not enough that PD programmed these guys to want to kill you, have them put up lap records in a Mini Cooper on the first two laps... but now they also cheat by straight up teleporting in front of you... awesome! This has to be the worst AI out of any racing game...

Hey Devil,

Looks like you were doing the Willow Springs S Race. I found it buggy for Pit Ins as well in my race. (I'll try and get the race Replay up if I can figure out how).

Although I didn't experience the Teleporting AI like you clearly did in your video, but I did experience a bug with Tires and Fuel (Clearly seen in my replay after coming out of the pits).

Was racing the ACR Viper '13 for this race. Pitted, Tyres and Fuel were done and found that upon exiting the pits, the Tyre Degradation reset and instantly dumped almost 1/4 of a tank of fuel!

On the last lap, I ran out of fuel on the straight after passing into first place on the last corner and had the C5 Corvette push me across the line in First

Maybe the whole race / event is buggy?

(If anyone can tell me the easiest way to upload a race replay besides camming, would be greatly appreciated 👍)

I think this is more of a pit glitch than an AI glitch…

In GT5 you could come into the pits too fast or at a weird angle and it'd auto-reset your car. It looks more like that yellow Lambo was just reset due to some odd pit calculation...

Doesn't look like the AI moved to me, the pole and wall on the right approach at a constant speed, as do the pitcrews, but you were clearly reset for entering the pits too quickly. That 'punishment' has been there since GT5.

that's how I always entered the pits... in fact, I went in many times even faster on some of the higher hp cars... and that never happened before... also... don't have the video of this but the next race I did, I went into the pits and my car refused to pit... just slowly drove on through...

Something similar happened to me in Rome circuit. Driving in the Stratos there was an Alfa teleporting 2 meters back on the straight - to be sure I replied the race and surely the same thing happened - no braking just instant change of position.

This happened to me a few times. I noticed it happens more frequently in straights when you are approaching them to pass, usually not in the slipstream but a bit to the side.

I've saw it happen in various circuits.

What am i missing here, i don't see anything wrong, you go to the pits, about a second later the other car goes past into his pits???

The yellow car driven by the OP is in front of the orange AI.
OP enters pits
AI enters pits
AI some how gets in front of OP before entering pitbox

I have had this happen to me twice while running the Willow Springs race. A following AI car would get transported in front of me as we both drive down the pit-lane.

That's how I always entered the pits... in fact, I went in many times even faster on some of the higher hp cars...

I am entering the pits quite normally as well, though its possible that we are getting a 2 second pit-entrance penalty for entering the pits too fast (as some have suggested). I normally ease off the throttle just a hair as I come into the pits, but sometimes I might be at full-throttle since the pit-entrance is a straight shot in. I have run the race nearly 50 times (for the Autobarmy trophy) so I'm pretty familiar with the pit-entrance.

If it is a 2-second pit-entrance speed penalty, its probably not fair because it seems to me that the following AI is going at the same high-speed and should receive the same 2-second penalty.

Anyway, I find it quite charming how the AI car just teleports thru our car and beats us into the pit-boxes!:D

I've just gone back to the Willow Springs race and I was able to intentionally replicate the "AI teleportation". I entered the pit-entrance at full throttle, just in front of three AI cars that I had stacked up just behind me...... and all three of the AI cars teleported past me into their pit-boxes first!!

The AI cars are entering the pit-entrance at full throttle until they just get to the end of the pit-entrance wall on the right side, and then they are slowing down, so when they get to the timing-light pole on the right side of the pit they have slowed down significantly.

So I would say that our cars can get a pit-entrance speeding penalty if we don't ease off the throttle a bit as we enter the pits at Willow Springs.:guilty:

Great fun!

so why doesn't it display that you got the penalty? I'm very confused that this is the only time it happened to me when I always enter the pits the same way... in fact, the couple of races after I was racing my Pikes Peak Quattro which goes faster than the Aventador, again, at full speed flew into the pits and didn't get any penalty... also, I thought that the penalty is usually assessed on the pit stop itself? That wouldn't be very hard to implement? I'm so confused by this whole situation...

Yeah, if the game is giving us a 2 second penalty for speeding in the pit-lane, it should tell us. A yellow message saying "2 second pit-speed penalty" would be useful.

I don't know how consistent this penalty is. I have now seen it 3 times (out of 50 races), but I'm not always just in front of another AI, so I might not have noticed that the game was causing a 2 second delay.

A couple of times my pit-stops took slightly longer than I would have expected, so thinking back on this, I imagine that the game was giving me a penalty, though it didn't cause my car to lose a position.

See you on the tracks!
