I'd be willing to bet that if you looked at the switches, there probably isn't an "on" or "off" side to them. That is why they are a 3-way switch. And in you scenario, the light would then be on anyway, assuming the person that installed it didn't put it in upside down. So just install a CFL and never turn the light off. :sly:

You think I'm got the attention span to read through all that tonight?!

There ought to be a law against that.

I know Famine is joking but that's exactly what I'm talking about. No there should not be a law against that and it's arrogant to think that in the 5 seconds that you've thought about the issue you can decide what is right for everyone else. Our culture is to advocate legislation like it's handing out candy, like all problems can be easily fixed with new laws - this phrase is an illustration of that fallacy.

All that being said, Famine is still funny.

Then settle down

Just explaining it that's all. We are supposed to talk about things that irritate us here right?

I wasn't calling Famine arrogant - I was saying that the people who use that phrase and mean it are arrogant.

I'm having you on, mate.

Trust me, come live with my parents and you'll know all about what "deciding issues for everyone else" means...

I hate the following on the Interet:

Websites that tell you what resolution to set your screen.

Websites with "Internet Explorer" or "Netscape Now" buttons. **** you, I don't need you to tell me what web browser to use.

Websites that ask you to download and install a font to view the webpage properly.

Webpages that don't run on any browser other than Internet Explorer becayse the designer is too ignorant or lazy to make it W3C compliant.

Websites with MIDI music playing in the background.

People who choose really awful colors for their posts on web forums, like dark blue or dark green on a black background so you get a migraine trying to read their inane crap.

People with 30,000 posts on a forum, 29,000 of which are posts like "lol" or consist of nothing but a smiley.

People who type everything in all caps on the Internet.

People who type everything in huge long rambling sentences with no capital letters, no full stops, no commas etc.

Talk about petty!

That's just a recommendation at which resolution the site is viewed best in. ;)

I don't browse 'em if that's the only browser they'll run on. 👍

Ever had really poor quality MIDI music playing int he background?

This is one of my vexations; I spam out those forums whenever I come across 'em - usually the webmaster is such a n00b he either doesn't know how to ban me or is too stupid to ban my IP address.

Never had that one before. Done it a few times myself though.

There was a guy at this site who used to do that, but he wasn't dumb, he was pretty smart. He just never put any punctuation in, which made reading it a hassle.

Have you ever reset your resolution to view a website the way it was meant to? Nobody does. What's the point of giving an optimal resolution if everyone is just going to ignore it.

It's the job of a web designer to make sure that his website looks properly in a wide variety of resolutions.

I dont really take notice of what resoulution im suppose to have, i run 1280x1024, whether the website likes it or not.

I hate it when people don't use their indicators. I also hate when the person ahead of me runs a red light. I'm just waiting for the time when they get T-boned and I have to wait an hour for the emergency crew to pry their stupid face off the wheel.

I hate it when people don't use broders or transparency on their avatars.

:banghead: :banghead: 🤬 :irked: :ouch: :grumpy: I can't stand optimists or overly positive people. I don't mind happy people but people who are all "blah blah blah so we can all be happy" or "blah blah blah its so lovely outside i think ill go and listen to the birds" just makes me wanna punch them. Theres this chick in my civics class like that, and me and friend Britt just sit there and look at each other while simultaneously thinking "doesn't she make you sick?". Or people who are ignorant. Like old people. Old people are frauds too. My gramma has like a 240lb heavy oak door that she just flings open whenever i come over, but she cant carry the 5lb bag of whatever **** she has in it. usually a wallet, some "Werthers Original" caramels and kleenex. Effing old people. :banghead: :banghead:  :irked: :grumpy: :ouch: :yuck:

Yeah I dislike how deep rooted old people are in their views. They never want to learn anything about something new or exciting or "not normal". They are just resigned to live their boring life.

You should buy HIM a pair of Sennheisers (or whatever that brand is that Emad says is the best...) and grab a pair for yourself. 👍

Smoking... it's my right to breathe fresh air, I don't want people polluting it...

i have sennheisers and they PWN

i hate it when people use avatars that THEY HAVENT MADE.

i hate it when people use avatars that THEY HAVENT MADE.

Omnis why do you hate me?(I've used others and made my own). It's not like I'm taking credit for it. I bet 95% of members here use avs made by someone else. How do you feel about people scaling down real pictures and using them as I do?

my fault....thought it was weboso's.

it's not like i really hate anyone...just trying to point out my kickass avatar...

....again.

Oh, you meant the icon. It was done by weboso, but I meant that I compiled the avatar myself. I completeley did the background and border myself, mind you.

Don't crucify me for using that icon made by webose. even yours wasn't made all by yourself. Did you draw the hoagie?

back on topic...
I hate when people don't use firefox!

I dislike people who feel the need to emphasise every single post they make on a forum using italics, bold and nearly every other VB code and smilie :grumpy:

There's a certainly line between emphasising your post with VB's features and going overboard.

Stinky Chicken
Seriously? Why?
Is it worth your while opening your display program and choosing a different resoution? Did the website really look any better? I can't imagine what difference it'll actually make, unless you typically use a very low res for your screen and choose a higher resolution for some websites. But then again, why would anyone use a low res for their screen if they're capable at running at a higher resolution?

All your problems seem to be on the internet. If you hate it so much, get rid of it.

I'm assuming using bold and indigo font (on every single one of over 9000 posts) don't count as vB code these days then?
