How customizable are the controls in X360 racing games? Is it possible to totally reconfigure the controller?

Reason I ask is that I'm actually thinking of buying one at some point (*gasp*!!), but I want to be able to drive racing games my way. In other words, put the gas/brake on the right stick and not the triggers. I've been driving dual-stick since the original Gran Turismo, that was more than eight years ago, so I'm very stuck in my ways. Tried trigger-driving on the Dreamcast. Hated it. Always configure every racing game I own to dual-stick control (excepting the ones I use the DFP on, which is usually reserved exclusively for sim racers).

So... PGR3. Can you move the gas/brake to the right stick?

TDU (demo, at any rate), can you do the same?

Etc, etc...

I'll let you know today when I test them out.

With PGR3, you can use the left stick for steering and the right stick for accelerating/braking.

I don't know about TDU, since it's the demo and you can't customize squat. But I'd expect you'd be able to use the right stick for accelerating/braking.

I belive you can map the gas/brake to the buttons as well, and you can make the triggers like a flappy-paddle gearbox so you get that "Ferrari" feeling. Not that I'd do it, but hey, whatever makes you happy...

I've never tried using the right stick for the throttle, but it might be interesting...

Buttons are the devil. I've done it before, and 1) It wears the hell out of my thumbs because of the constant pressure required for full throttle, and 2) I'm pretty sure that kind of thing isn't too good for the controller.

You've never driven dual-stick, Yss? Man, I've been doing that since GT1.. hehe.
