" this pic doesn't look photochopped"

Sorry, I couldn't resist. What's wrong with the picture though?

My only attempt at an explaination would have something to do with the dusk, or low light surrounding the area and the addition of camera flashes making the car seem like it doesn't match the background.

Someone more attached to cameras and their workings may be able to add further onto what I think or I might be wrong completely..

Min could be talking about, how high in the air the car is...........

Naw, it's not about how high it is, it's about the texture or something. I can't really put my finger on it, but it just looks like it was a cardboard cutout that someone held on the road.

Lighting do seem little off. Like Taurine was saying, if we could get someone with photography background......

Pulled it off SWRT.com, but tell me that car doesn't look like it "fits" in that picture.
Looks perfectly fine to me... Neither the car, nor the lighting seems off...

Ok, I think I figured it out on my own....I think what is off is that there is a flash located on the same side of the road as the photographer, but closer up to the car. that part doesn't throw me off, but I think there's also some light comming from the opposite side of the road (perhaps another photographer's flash) - that secondary flash is illuminating the driver's side of the car more than it otherwise would be, so it stands out from the background.

Yep, I would agree that there's at least one offboard flash connected to the camera. It looks like there's a small nuclear explosion going off virtually perpendiular to the car, plus a smaller hotshoe (i.e. on the camera) flash pointing at the car from the front 3/4. If you look at the snow on the bank around the Peugeot banner, you can see the car's shadow.

And the fact that you got the pict from SWRT adds credibility to it. A lot of their pictures are heavily stylised pictures of the car. The top rally photography agency (McKlein) are into pictures of rally cars in countryside, so the car itself is often less defined in their work.

Actually, the McKlein stuff is amazing. I have several of their pictures around my house. You see these beautiful scenery pictures, and then suddenly you notice the rally car. It's very clever.

This image is an indication of what I mean. Not a great one, but the best one I can find on the web:

yeah, that pic looks fine. there are TONS of people there....and if they're smart and alert, you know they got that picture. that's the result of track lighting and a crapload of people flashing at once.

the car just looks out of place because it's a very high shutter speed. I wouldn't doubt it if he took it in a burst shot. therefore, the background could seem blurry due to movement, but with the car still in focus because it's moving with the camera.

It looks real to me, but if that was a photo shop it would be a darn good one. I mean some one would have to know there stuff and do some research. Most obviously the car is airborne and the suspension is properly extended. It's seems to be night or approching night and the car has the accesory light pod that they only equip for those type of stages. And the course is a snow stage, for which the car has snow tiers on. Like I said it would be a great shop. but it's not.

Where's the rally where they get the longest distance?? Rally of a thousand lakes??

Rally Australia has a pretty big jump.. Not long, but quite a drop..

4..

Few more angles of Martin's jump, but for General Lee sized leaps you need the Paris-Dakar.

My suspicion is that that's not even a flash. Judging by the position and the type of light, it looks like lighting for a TV camera.

That picture is of the SWRT web site, so it's suposed that everything has to be 100% Subaru, but there are some Peugeot flags at the right side of the image. That's why it doesn't "fit" I think.
Sorry for my crapy english.
