Oh man, this is so hard. Its hard to balance looks and driving fun..
I have been as specific as possible with what I like - I discovered a lot about my own taste! I mostly like classic looking sportcars that aren't too over the top (ie Enzo Ferrari, Lambos). Looks are also more important than anything else. Damn I'm vain!! LOL!!
1. Aston Martin DB9 (dark steely silver)
>> Pure sex, sounds kinda like a Spitfire with a glorious Merlin V12 thundering away! Beautiful contemporary interior (not as traditionally woody as normal Astons). Best looking and sounding car IMO! Use as a fast GT tourer.
2. Aston Martin DB5 (silver - of course)
>> Equal best lookng Aston ever. Timeless. Beautiful. The aura of coolness about this car is so thick you could choke on it! Use as a daily driver, not driven too hard..
3. Ferrari 360 (RED. What else? Its a purebred racer!)
>> Perfect modern driver's Ferrari. Engine sound possibly the best ever mechanical howl to arise from Ferrari's factory. Balance, power, and response just right. An improvement on the F355 as the perfect driver's Ferrari. I would use on the track!
4. Ferrari 250 GTO (Black! More badass than red. Suits this car better.)
>> The best looking classic Ferrari (IMO). Classic sports car long bonnet looks gets me in... I like the classics! They have real purity of form and function, which I like! Nothing to get in the way, like TCS or ASM! This car I'd use as a daily driver also, not driven hard though. I don't believe in owning classic cars and never driving them! Cars like this aren't designed to stand still forever in a glass case!
5. Ferrari 612 Scaglietti (Dark red colour is pure class - designates the car as a Ferrari, but is in line with the classic tourer intent, not as over the top... Silver is also good for a GT tourer!)
>> Am I the only person who thinks this car is really beautiful? I don't expect it to be like a normal Ferrari - I'm more than happy that its a wonderful, classic long-bonnet sports tourer! I absolutely LOVE the classic lines, how the line passes down from the top crease of the lights to continue as the bottom lip of the large grill. I actually like the subtle class of this car, even if its not the typical wedge-styled supercar some people want. I would use as a sexy GT tourer and to spend too much time washing it (as with all these cars LOL!).
6. 1970 Oldsmobile 442 (All black, kept very shiny, subtle gold highlights/stripes)
>> This is possibly the nicest looking and proportioned muscle car I've seen. To me, the design of this car is pure bad-arse and I just love it. However, in any other colour than black, the car's potency is lost. Also it only looks good with a hardtop. But get the combination right and it has a really perfect aura about it... This is the coolest US car IMO. The dual inlets on the bonnet (hood for the yanks) are bad-arse without being too over the top. I really love this car. The power is quite impressive also! I'd use it as a daily driver!
7. Jaguar E-type (silver, or red, must be perfect condition)
>> This is style over substance and I love it. Classic (extremely) long bonnet looks - it almost looks a bit too suggestive (you know what I mean...). Still, a bona-fide classic! Its THE iconic long-bonnet british sports car. I'd use it for pic-nics! However I wouldn't be able to fit the hamper in once two people were in the car LOL!
8. Porsche 911 Turbo S (seal grey metallic)
>> The best looking Porsche of the current range. Possibly the most perfect sports car yet devised. Pure joy. Its my opinion that Porsche have really got this 911 right, and they can do no wrong. Apart from the Cayenne, the ugly rear ends of the cabriolets and the typo I found on their website, that spelled Carrera as 'Carrara' - a big slip for the Germans! Definately a daily driver and a great track car.
9. Mustang Fastback '65 (all black, no stripes or whatnot!)
>> I don't really need to say anything about this car. This is my absolute favorite Mustang shape, and it looks
B - E - A utiful in black (you can see a pattern with my fav colour for muscle cars...). Another perfectly proportioned muscle car, with classy lines, not too over the top or ruined with silly fins etc. A car you will never tire of it. Definately another daily driver!
10. Holden Monaro CV8 Series 1, 2001. (Yellow! - Holden's 'hero' colour.)
>> This was a sensational comeback for the Monaro, a famous model with a rich racing history in Australia. This is the one you want, the initial 2001 model, in yellow. These cars have already become modern classics in Australia. Its the kind of car that stirs the soul and makes you proud to be Australian. This must be the feeling Americans get when they rev their Mustangs! This model is the best aesthetically, it doesn't have the awful bonnet scoops the yanks put on later, and it has a classy subtlety about it, a clean, well proportioned car. This is also my concession to slight practicality. The boot is large, the back seats can fit adults very comfortably (though you need to put the front seats forward to get in) and fellow Aussies won't think I'm a total tosser when I go to the supermarket in this car. The Monaro recieves nothing but respect in Australia! This is possibly the car with the most street cred around Melbourne, because its a kick arse weapon without being prohibitively expensive or elitest, like a Lambo is for instance. This is the best car in Australia for a daily driver, its practical enough to do shopping and comfortable/fast enough to cover great distances. It will also be the only Holden to significantly go up in value as the years tick by. Its a classic model that will always be 'cool'. The engine note is much better than in GT4, where it sucks quite hard.
Ok that took waa-ay longer than I expected that to take!! Just missing out was a Lotus Esprit V8 (red) awesome iconic car - gotta love the pop-up lights! Also not quite making the list was a Mercedes 300SL Gullwing coupe and a Delorean both for the awesome doors and iconic stlye! Oh well. I couldn't decide, this is so hard to try and do seriously!
