So... I get a level 5 weight reduction for this car, that let it at 1350kg, so I think to make a gr4 spec electric race car. 1350kg and 425cv sounds great...
But, when I take the car to the circuit...is limited at 210km/h!
WTF? A car with more than 400cv at stock and 210kmh limit? Why is in the game if we cannot use it to race??
There is any way to quit the limit?

The limiter is accurate to the original Model S — it was a limitation of their reduction gear / motor combo (all Model S’s are a one-speed). This was solved in later Model S iterations with different drivetrain configurations.

What I don’t get is why the only Tesla in the game is a ten year old Model S, copy and pasted from previous games. Literally every car Tesla has ever made would be more fun to drive, even their first gen roadster. It’s the worst possible choice.

The current 2022 Model S Plaid, for example, has 1050 horsepower, is capable of 216mph (when limiter removed - an article of someone doing just that came out last week), has a 400 mile range, out-accelerates any production car ever made (even at high speeds, unlike its predecessors) and handles MUCH better than most car enthusiasts realize. It’s a ton of fun to drive (you can probably guess I own one). It did the Nurburgring in 7:30 on stock tires and brakes. That’s damn quick for a stock production car. It’d be a great way to smash the existing very wrong misconceptions that Teslas are poor-handling, low range, have no top end, and aren’t fun.

Then of course there’s the Model 3 Performance that set records at Pikes Peak, and the Cybertruck and Roadster 2.0 prototypes. Lots of low hanging fruit. But instead Polyphony is giving us ZIP NADA NOTHING from the world’s most valuable and fastest growing car company.

Is this due to Japan’s anti-EV bias? It doesn’t appear to be a licensing issue.

What makes you say that?

Tesla doesn't advertise - and video game licensing is advertising. It doesn't even have a dedicated press office or PR team - and video game licensing is part of a PR department's remit. While I would know who to speak to for licensing just about any other car company's products, I wouldn't even know where to start with Tesla.

That might also explain why the only car in the game is one licensed a decade ago; the rights, however the hell they were obtained, are simply persisting.

And to answer the question posed, it's limited by the gearbox. The Model S has a single-gear drive, so quite simply the faster the motor spins the faster the wheels spin. I don't know if you can fit an upgraded gearbox, but if you can that would be the solution.

Sorry to derail, but out of interest, did you own performance petrol cars before the Tesla? How does it measure up... obviously on paper its rapid, to say the least, but many enthusiasts say things about lacking 'soul', mainly due to roar of a powerful ICE

For me, the otherworldly acceleration and futuristic hum makes up for any lack of roar (plus you can hear exactly what the tires are doing on any turn, which is cool), but taste is subjective. For sure some people miss the growl of ICE.

My previous car was a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Maybe that’s a low bar for real car enthusiasts, but the Model S Plaid demolishes that car in every measurable way, haha. Grip, handling, acceleration, response, stability are all just in a different league. Haven’t personally driven anything truly exotic like a Bugatti or Lambo to compare, sorry, they’re a bit out of my price range. But for $140k the Plaid is pretty incredible.

I will say the brakes are fine for everyday use, but they really need an upgrade to be good on a track.

Yeah, maybe. If so, that’s a shame. It’s dumb that they have no PR department. I’ve been advocating for that for years (and for limited advertising).

Gosh, nice, just googled the Hellcat. Recall hearing about them a few years back and insane power they have. Decent comparison then, in terms of going from pretty extreme car to another. Not like you;ve moved from a Camry (nothing wrong with them, just not performance focused).

I have an m3 f80 and teslas (model 3's), tend be the car that tries to provokes me into some kind of motorway, street race more than other brands. When they have floored it, thought gosh, they are seriously quick...

Beautiful looking car, colour btw. in UK tend to only see white, maybe the odd black or grey. At least where I live.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I'm sure there's a way of removing the limiter. Possibly a gearbox upgrade.

I remember testing it at Le Mans and I certainly can't remember any sort of speed restrictor.

Which is supposed to be coming, remember.

Oh wow, I hope that’s still the case!

I heard it's because Elon Musk himself is no longer interested in licensing his cars to videogames.

It's possible the rumored Tesla Pikes Peak car would be added as part of a different licensing deal altogether.

I've seen a few Taycans and Teslas in the flash. My view is kinda the same.

F80/F82 are absolutely fun cars to drive, also can be scary too (and loud as hell lol).

I test drove my uncle's F82 M4 two days ago and I love it. I have only drive 2 european cars so far (a Toyota owner for life here) and both of them are his, the 2010 SL350 and the M4. I don't know why the SL350 throttle pedal is heavy as hell while the M4 feels so good and responsive.

Hi,

@GTboyz - this answer is simple ... Because Mercedes wanted IT Like that. If Mercs are Not directly related to be racers (e.g. old 190 16v) they tend to gibt the Drivers a heavy, Solid feel as Expression that the Cars are Well Made quality products.

That's maybe an outdated way, Bit thats their way ...

Yeah the M3/4 F8X and the Audi (RS4/5) /Merc (AMG C63) equivalents each have their stronger points. All incredible cars, and I suspect most would be happy any of them, particularly if moving from non performance cars.

Audi's 4WD drive stick to the road in all but extreme conditions, more idiot proof in terms of floor it with little care for losing control unless being a total lunatic on the road. Down side is not quite as agile or 'alive' as M cars imo due to 4wd, extra weight- but like I say, certainly not dull by a long stretch.

AMG C63, sounds best of the 3, incredible v8, rwd, but again, heavier than M3 so brings downsides.

BMW probably not quite as good sounding compared to other 2 (but i like the straight 6 sound), but this class is BMW's bread and butter and they seem to have weight distribution, handling down to a tee... more agile than the other 2. RWD, like you say, great fun, been taking around B rounds in Dorset this summer and its great fun. 60mph to 100ish is something crazy like 3 seconds... some m3 purists don;t like the turbos, but torque is always there from the 3tlr twin turbos.... I've never used full auto, always the paddles... Novelty/fun hasn;t worn off in nearly 18 months ownership... trips to shops can turn into 2 hour detours, love the way it looks - good balance of aggression/classiness imo :D. I love the damn thing, no regrets at all, after dithering about buying a performance car for years. I have the Competition version, so 450BHP, no chrome and 666 20" alloys.
