Just got back to GTAV after quite a while.

The game loads textures late every time there's a new sequence.

Typical example: you see the guy in the suit in the beginning of the game after the robbery.. who's talking to the shrink.. then goes outside to sit on the bench before the 2 black doods walk by.... every time the sequence changes, I see textures loading almost a second late.

Is this only on the X360 version?

I own a 2011 Jasper, but using a 2007 Elite's 120 GB HDD with it. Though there's less than 100 GB usable space. Anyway, there's a good 20 GB free space, and I clear the cache regularly.

What's the issue? Does the game just load textures like that? It's installed.

Are you using a disc copy or a digital copy? Sounds like a dirty/faulty disc issue to me.

Happens for the PS3 version sometimes, I recently created a new character for online and decided to do the tutorial instead of skippping it and the whole cutscene was a pop in fest.

Sad that we have to live with this after so many advances being made in the gaming world.

I don't suppose a faster HDD will cure this? Though I don't think there are any third party (faster) external HDD's available for either console.

On the PC, you get a faster HDD with more RAM... zee problemo.. ezz-a gone yesss?! *twirls mustache*

Yup, at this point, I'll probably go full on PC instead of getting a next gen console but as a whole, gaming isn't as good as it was before.

Well, for one thing it certainly isn't making strides from generation to generation the way I had hoped.

FM5 is a typical example. I was hoping to see a lot more from it, but that's another discussion for another thread.

Interestingly, PC always stays on top. But then again, nobody would be willing to pay the kind of prices it takes for a high-end gaming PC.

I'm sure it's a hard drive problem, but it's nothing to worry about until your data starts getting corrupted. Just be sure to back up your saves elsewhere and it'll be ok.

I have only one disc installed - the one the game needs to run faster and not have the disc constantly spinning. All relevant content is also installed on HDD. It does this only in some sequences not all.

I believe texture pop up is strictly a game-specific issue more than anything else. Just how it is.
