It looks like the moderators are cracking down again. Banning Darin and closing all of those worthless threads in the test forum was definitely one of the best things that has happened here recently.

I'm glad this place is beginning to go in a different direction. I had almost cut GTP out of my life, but after today, I think you guys will see more of me.

You will definitely be seeing the moderators enforcing the policy "If you have nothing to say, say nothing".

Remember that GTPlanet is about the content. If you're about to post something that has no content, save everyone the time, and don't bother.

I am gonna second the first post. Thank you very much. Definitely a great start to making GTP a much cooler place.
 
I can only second or third this motion.. Banning that little useless ***** was a very good move (Are we allowed to attack banned members ?)

Whithout those threads I don't have anything do at GTP :(
 
I for one am glad those threads are locked.. Was a pain in the behind always seing either "The Colour Blue", "The Vs. Thread" or the "What do you think of the user" threads displayed on top when using "New posts"...
 
This is amazing, all of the members who make this place miserable are leaving now that their ringleader and hangouts are gone.

Then perhaps you should consider adding useful content to this forum, instead of 'witty' chatter. This forum is not, and was never intended to be, a replacement for AIM/MSN or a chat room. Yes, Jordan and the mod staff want to support a friendly community. But the recent server troubles have highlighted the fact that GTP is drowning in the inane chatter of several thousand active members. At the risk of alienating a few members who refuse to consider their own actions, we're trying to improve the quality of this forum for the majority of members who look to GTP for solid, accurate information and intelligent, thoughtful conversation.

This is not an attempt to get rid of certain members. This is just an attempt to reduce the deafening background noise that drowns out much of what is worth hearing.
 
Looks like the test forum is going pretty quick, quicker than I thought. Anyway, so are you just gonna lock everything or delete it as well? or wouldn't it be easier to just lock the test forum area? or delete it for that matter? Also, what about Users that no longer come here? Just questions.. not trying to be a smart ass.

Lock`em up, shut`em down, ship`em off. If it's not regarding GT it doesn't belong at GTPlanet.

You sure ?.. Then we need the Mod Squad to close the Rumble Strip, Music, Movies and TeleVision etc. etc. forums - And FAST :D

We'll be getting rid (or lock it and hide it away) of the test forum completely. I'm locking threads one by one so that jokers don't go and bump every single one of them back up. If you want to have intelligent conversations, and not senseless blabber, for the moment you can do so in The Color Blue, but only there.
 
That's true because essentially there are two "the rumble strip" one the test forum and two the rumble strip... the only difference might be that the test forum is slightly worse.

ahh... yeah... I was just thinking because if you just close threads it's still taking up space on the server right? But I mean if you do the whole test forum at once you don't have to do each thread, or does it not work like that? I'm clueless when it comes to this web site stuff. :grumpy:👍
 
I think part of the reason the test forum got so out of hand is because it's not as clearly stated as like the rumble strip and so the definition is always confusing and changing so it's probably good it's going. The rumble strip will just be the central MISC. if you will.
 
The definition of a test forum is very clear to me. It's to test things out.

Never done a poll before? Try one in the test forum.

Never attached anything before? Try it out in the test forum.

Never used BB code before? Try it out in the test forum.

Need to start an intersting topic? Do it in the relevent forum.

Need to start an inane conversation? Don't.

Simple.

In my opinion that would be fine. Though the Rumble Strip seems to be a good outlet, the rest of it can all be lumped into that one location.

Though everyone who posts there needs to know that their meaningless drivel is quite tiresome to the majority of the community. We're members here because of a video game about racing cars. We're car guys. Yes, we have other topics, but there are websites for those things - and this isn't it.

I beg to differ... I'm a GT3 nut, but I tend to get a little tired of GT3 every once in a while, but it's still nice to come here, and chat about this and that - and NOT just necessarily GT1,2 or 3 (or 4 ;) )

So you think that one should join one ??Planet for each of his interests ?....
 
No, there is no general push to restrict this forum to GT-only a la Kenjii and GTF. As far as I know there will always be room for interesting discussion on a wide variety of topics. It's just the pointless, thoughtless, topic-less static that is being rooted out and dealt with.
 
It's basically a push for increased quality in the forums. Comes every six months or so - eventually slacks off to the point of frustating most people, then the push comes again.

I'm fine with the closing of the TeSt FoRuM, but it's not all that bad an idea to still have a Test Forum, if you get what I mean.

But I don't want to see a disappearance of the Rumble Strip, Opinions, Music/TV, etc. forums. Perhaps lumping them togeth might work, but otherwise, a GT-only forum gets old after a while. You'll also promote things like this if you don't have an outlet for off-topic stuff.

Besides, you can just view an old post to see a sig/avatar/title change.

As for banning Darin, I've never had beef with him, so I don't have any comment. I can think of about 100 others I'd ban first....
 
Nobody every said anything about removing the Off-Topic forums, so there's no need to worry about that. The Test Forum is the only one which will be leaving. The "Preview Post" feature should be sufficient for checking the formatting of your messages.
