I heard that if you play on 720p the game has 60 fps smoothly, so I went to try and change the graphic options but it wouldn't let me select 720 and would always stay at 1080p. Can someone help me with this?

Do you tray to change it on the PS3 Menu? Or via the options in game? If the latter, it cannot be changed like that.

Best to do it through the PS3 menu, disable 1080i/p in the display settings and the game will boot up in 720.

Only through the PS3 menu. Go to Video Output and uncheck everything but 720p. depending on the size of your tv, you might not even notice the difference.

I have a 32 inch Bravia, and previously I had it all the time in 1080p. I realized that with 32 inches, 1080p is a waste... I´ve noticed that 720p starts looking blurry in tv´s of 42 inches and above...

Arms length away.

If you are used to 1080p, you will notice feel the difference right away, sitting that close.

I use 1080p all the time in my 24" screen sitting that close, and I couldn't tolerate 720p when I switched back to it. Even though other PS3 games look OK to me in 720p.

Damn! I will never understand this... As far as I know, the more you stretch the image the more blurry it will look. For example: I have a friend with a 52" inch screen, and games look aweful in 480p, even in 720p they look kind of blurry. Of course, in 1080p, they look fenomenal.

In my case, I can certainly notice a difference between 480p and 720p on my 32" screen, but from 720p to 1080p, I swear I can´t notice a thing. I can´t notice any difference in the sharpness, I´m able to see the tiny numbers in the speedometer in every car in the most crystal clear way, and definitely I can´t notice changes in the fps rate. Although I did noticed some screen tearing, and vibrations when on 1080p. I usually sit on a couch, like 6 feet away from the screen.

I'll agree with Husky on the 720 to 1080 thing, I play on a 40" Bravia and the differences are nigh impossible to notice. Must be because we're sitting farther back than you guys.

Take GTA IV for example, like so many games, the back of the case says it supports 1080p, but it can only be blown up to 1080 by disabling 720 on the PS3. Do this and tell me what looks different, and if you can, congratulations on having 20/10 vision. Once I started Burnout Paradise after disabling 720 and forgetting to put it back on, scared the crap out of me how bad it looked, it had reverted to 480p. :p
