That's it - I'm stuck!

Like RogsR34UK, I ran this ages ago, and can't remember the car I used, but a few things come to mind...

First question for you - what are the competition using? You can usually take something that is less powerful than them and win - the AI always brake early, and you'll be able to pass them through the corners.

I'll steer clear of specific suggestions until I'm sure of what the competition is like, but personally, I always go for a better handling car than something with outright horsepower.

There are plenty of great cars that are easier to handle in every class, and personally I found the CLK GTR Race Car to be quite a handful, as it has so much power.

Aim for something that handles really well, and suits your driving - perhaps a 4WD for better stability.

66'Roadster (and any other EU ppl), I'm in Ireland and play pretty often, especially after work through until about midnight, so feel free to add me for some races (haven't done much online so far. My PSN is BadDoggie (please say something in the invite about being from GTP).

Cheers,
Dog

Thanks guys I'll add you later. Just picked the kids up from school so my peace has gone ;) The plan is tea time, bed, washing up, laundry, ps3!

I'm from Italy, have just 1 hour of difference, if you want you can add me, I'm online usually at 19-20 GMT +1, so 18-19 for you =D my psn is andreadg89 👍

I tried this event with a bone stock McLaren Mp4-12C (ie. sports hard tires/ no oil change) and I was able to place 4th. The race was awesome fun, tho. I can't believe Mp4-12C on sports hards can keep up with race cars (and with a slow driver that I am)! With a little pushing I think I can get 1st. But with racing tires, I'm sure Mp4-12C will smoke the competition. Do try the Mp4-12C for this race.

A tip in case you didn't know already - when the car's inner wheels clip the grass on a corner, the car will still be stable. But when the car's outer wheels even slightly clip the grass in a corner, the car will spin uncontrollably.

Hi if you have it, try Lion's Den Cadillac Cien just need to keep the rear under control and it's a 100% win, try softer tyres in the rear than the front if you have problems. If you don't have Cien try 430 Scuderia or 458 Italia or TWR Tuscan RM (use race tyres in all cars)

If you want a proper Race Car and you have 1.000.000 cr go for this it works perfectly with all the non-stealth NSX race cars too, It has an incredible turn in

Hope it helps!

Surely Id want more grip not less, so Id use sports soft on the ring!

Can't exactly remember if the World Championship allow you to use race tyres but if it does, go for racing compounds, if you eventually feel too oversteer try racing medium front/soft rear or hard front/soft rear. Try also to setup LSD with this values, rear: 5,5,54. This became a standard LSD setup I used to prevent wheels spinning without putting too much effort (in the car setup). It works for me.

I don´t know if you´re talking about the Gran Turismo World Championship, or that seasonal stuff that I´ve never seen since I havent gone online since 2009.

Get a group c, or LM prototype car. I used the Peugeot HDI FAP. Peace of cake once you learn to control the car. Trust me, with that car, you won´t even need to touch anything on the settings, plus that car drives so well that it alows you to turn off every assist, even the abs, if you use racing soft tires that is.

If you fully tune it up then it'll probably do it. Just don't crash and you'll be fine.

What's your best car right now?

Hmm not sure. Best car = fastest or best car = handling?
For the former the AMG GTR race car but I cant handle it. Best handling car would be the golf gti or lancia delta integrale, but they lack the speed of the AI cars. Fave car is my focus ST but that didnt do it either!

Ok so Im in the open lobby, how do I find you all?

I used the (winnable?it's in my garage, and I'm loving it), Lexus , IS F Racing Concept '08. I don't know the ring well enough (yet) but I forced myself to "follow the leader" in 2nd or 3rd place, and when you feel ready enough, go ahead and become 1st to finish. I used this same car in the 1st endurance race, Grandvalley Speedway at LVL25, and lapped the leader 6 times with it. (avg lap times 1:55), best lap 1:53

Why not just use your Supra?

It will easily beat the opposition, it can't be worse than my Civic atleast and I did it in my Civic with no aids.

Tried it, got nowhere. Slight mistake and youre off. Get back on and get bumped by a chaser and off again. Just doing my head in!

I used the CLK Touring car and it was cake. However my best advise is to keep learing that track. I believe the track is your main problem as that is a pretty difficult track to get used to. You are, or at I am reacting to the track more than planning the next corner.

If I may put out some advise? Try golding all the licenses. It may seem like a drag, but you do actually learn something from it. When you´re done, do the AMG special events to learn the Ring better.

If you are racing with a controller it may also be noteworthy that you gain alot from using the analog controls rather than the buttons, both for steering and throttle/brake, and manual gears.

Cant be arsed with the licences, bronze will do for me. Did the AMG challenge, upto the point where you get the dreadful SLS in the rain. And yea i use a controller, steering with the stick. I cant use the other stick for throttle, I just go all over the place. Poor left hand/right hand coordination.

My B-Spec Bob is in the final stages of the 24hr Nurburgring, so I can't jump online at the moment.

1 suggestion, following on from Mt Lynx - have you done the AMG Special Event? The one where it breaks the 'Ring into small chunks, with no other traffic? The first set of events is relatively simple to get Bronze, but to get Silver or Gold is quite a challenge, and requires good knowledge of the track. Learning it in small segments really helped me.

Perhaps if you get to know the first section or two, you'll get in front and then be able to take it a little easier in the race?

(OK, see now you've done that, so ignore this).

If people are beating this with a Civic, try the DTM cars (like the M3 Touring Car) or the Impreza Rally Car - brilliant in the corners, but doesn't have the outright speed on straights!

Click on community and your friends will come up in a list. Click on the friend your trying to join and then choose lounge and you'll be in their lobby.

But thats cheating, plus it kills speed. I use TCS 1 to 3 max, depending on the car.

TCS 1 is ok, doesn't slow you down much.

Skid Recovery Force makes driving on GT5 easier. If you're strggling to keep the car under control then ASM will make it much harder to spin your car.

I managed to win the championship with the Cusco Advan Impreza. The only race I couldn't win was the first one due to the speed differential on the Mulsanne Straight.

Unfortunately I can only see your Supra as your best option as its race ready. Put some (racing) Soft tyres on, lower the spring rates by a couple of points (2.0 not 0.2) and put your downforce up. Also increase the camber on the wheels to; 2.0 front and 1.0 rear if they're not already. This should give you some more grip in the corners. Try this and go for a few practice laps and you can change it more if its not quite right for you. I think you'll get there with it just keep trying. Hope this helps.

Really? You can't beat the GT Championship? Well I got bad news for you, The Historic Race, GT All-Stars and Dream Car Championship are like 10x harder than that with much more powerful cars. Good Luck.

How is using options in the game cheating?

I wasn't trying to be a smart:censored:, but you'll either need to be a better driver or use assists.

I vote for assists, i always try to use as little assists as posible, but it's no fun trying to controll a car thats way over your skills.

Anyway, alot of motorports use TC and assist like it to help the drivers=)

Yea theyre the two settings i use most.
