I just discovered this little spot so I figured I'd post up a couple pics and maybe a video or two.
Background: I bought the car new, off the car hauler and it didn't stay stock for too long. I was a fun little street car, that looked stock (for the longest time) but hurt a lot of feelings. I know it's not the fastest car, but it was pretty quick and fun to drive. I kept the car for about 9 years, dumped a lot of money and sweat into it, then sold it to a buddy of mine that had it painted Lamborghini Orange. I think he just wanted to make it "his" car, I can't blame him.

This was back when the motor was stock with some nitrous.

This was right after the motor swap.

This was my 1st trip to the track with the new motor (on motor)

Here a video of it idling from the other day.

So erm...

Why stay 2V? The 4V heads are just... Everything plus a bit. With the money you invested in the lower end it almost seems a shame to not pick up a set of B heads and a '96-8 Cobra intake and then doing some cleanup work on them rather than spring for ported 2V heads.

To be honest, the car was freaky fast when it had the stock motor. I think I had the right combination of suspension, tire and rear. I've never powershifted the car (the stock tranny is still in it with over 130k miles!) when the motor only put down 228rwhp I ran a 13.3 @ 104mph at a FFW event at NPR. I then sprayed a little 100 shot and ran a 12.06 @ 116mph and backed it up with a 12.1, with full interior. Back then (2003-2005) most '03 cobras (around here) weren't running that fast. In fact I don't think I ever lost to one... I'm sure I never stumbled across the right one. Needless to say that had me feeling pretty good about my little 2v.

After running the nitrous on the stock motor (untuned) for many, many years with great success, I decided to pull my perfectly running 125k miles 2V and do the swap. Back then I did a lot of racing and was trying to keep it as "sleeperish" as possible. I even had the quiet magnaflows that killed a lot of the lope from the cams, with the AC running it almost sounded like a stock mustang with exhaust, seriously. With the exhaust now, there is no hiding the cams. I had the nitrous lines all wire loomed (so you really had to look to see them, kept the stock plastic intake, no cold air, etc. When you looked at the car the 1st thing that came to mind is '13 second car', I'd pop the hood and that thought never changed.

The crazy thing is that my buddy that I sold it to, just put and typhoon intake and a CIA, brought it back to the same dyno and didn't make an ounce more of power, it didn't even raise the peak rpm.

I debated on going with 4V heads, but I would have went ported heads, cams, would have to changed the intake and exhaust. I'm sure it would have made more power but in the long run would have cost me much more. Besides I loved being the underdog, or at least having people think I was the underdog. :D

I've learned the hard way that modding a 2v, isn't a good $/hp option. I'd guess that's true for any modular motor. I don't think I'll ever mod one again. If I ever build another hot rod it'll be a foxbody (like my old one) but this one will have an LSx (probably turboed) in it backed by a build auto. Then I'll have a street friendly car that will probably run 9's and get 20+ mpg. :D

Sorry for the long winded answer. :(

I guess the foxbody will always have a that special place in my heart. ;)

Here's my '93

I sold it in 2000, when I bought my '01 and have been looking for it for years. I think I finally found it here (even has the same stereo that I put in it) > http://www.youtube.com/user/01gt46?feature=mhee#p/f/17/Vki4MOQYW5I

I tried to contact the guy several times to verify if it were my old car, and I was going to offer to buy it but he's never responded. :( If that were my old car, I would bother putting an LSx in it. :)

Picture #6 looks is when I think it looked the best. :) Oh and to me i think that is the best body style they've made for the Mustang, it just looks mean.

Damn that orange is nice.
Yeah, it turned out better than I expected. The color works for the car and the paint is so slick. I was expecting to see some orange peel but this is it getting buffed out after leaving the booth.

Oh... I think there's an orange and black obsession going on. He also drives an orange and black 4x4 Harley Davidson truck.

There's a newer gen GT around here with a similar orange/black scheme. Whoever drives it needs to go back to driving school, though.
