Wow, this is an amazing clip of gilles villeneuves and rene armoux battling it out. The contact is insane and makes you wonder how they kept control of those cars. Amazing to see villeneuves work that underpowered ferrari against the much more powerful renault.

The Duel.

By the way, what is the name of the song in the second part..? The "right here, right now".
Fatboy Slim - Right here, right now.

I look back at this video and I came to the conclusion that, If that was to happen today, one of the driver would complain about the contacts, create confusion, and bla bla bla you get the point.

I want back the ol' days of racing.

Yup, it is.

Little summary here.

Even better, has Good quality vids with commentary.

Actually, it's a painting. But that does make it even more special. :)

I know, but its just so beautiful. I'd like to have that hanging in my room.

Fantastic video, and perfect racing! What about the first song in the video, does anyone recognize that?

Amen to that 👍
This was fantastic, racing without limits. It wouldn't surprise me if the next gen F1 is a rollcage equiped Prius. 👎

Have you ever been to a Formula 1 event? I'm not sure about the actual drivers' complaints and everything, but the attitude of the crowd is certainly the opposite. A car coming into a turn with wheels locked up looking for an opening generate huge levels of crowd reaction and standing ovations for technical driving and car control. It certainly is spectacular. The crowd still loves seeing the driving like at Dijon in 79. It's the crowd that generates the profit from ticket sales, merchandising etc, without their love for good racing, no team would be able to drive. Seeing an actual race in real life is infinitely better than watching on any screen. I oculdn't care less who won, watching a car scream by, downshifting that sounds like a handgrenade going off next to you, battles for lower positioning, it's all amazing. Something that has never been captured on TV.

Actually both driver said after the race it was their most enjoyable drive they've ever done, but they were actually asked to explain themselves at the next race, and greatly criticized for their "irresponsible behavior" on track by officicals... some just don't understand what good racing is, and why we love watching it.

I live in Quebec, I went to the Montreal GP 2 years ago, it was fantastic.

Eliseracer, you get me wrong, I as a F1 fan, like to see contacts, brake locks, etc. it's the DRIVERS that don't like them, they don't understand that it's what makes the show, not the 1 min win or an overpassing in the pits.

Montreal GP 👍

Too bad Villeneuve is such a jerk. I think this year will be my 5th year at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, every year is just as amazing.

See you on Crescent.

You know, I think that Montoya and Michael Schumacher could have a battle like that and smile at the end of it. Those guys have respect for each other when they're battling. It's a shame they don't get to do it more often.

That clip makes modern F1 seem like a ride on the waltzers - absolutely mindblowing commitment and skill from those two chaps! Quality.
