Currently running the LeMans 24hr with a stock 05 Pescarolo C60 Hybride - Judd. I saved a 3 hour stint but made the mistake of jumping to my XMB and my PS3 froze mid save. Thankfully it didn't get currupted and I immediately continued where I was (before I ran the 3 hour's), let my car sit still for 20mins (just to not have to drive as I was still frustrated). I was in 2nd 12secs behind 1st before, when I returned 5th and unknown laps behind as it's not telling me. I switched up to race mediums to aid my journey of catching back up.

I did it before you could save, with a couple mates on A-Spec. Wanted to turn a full race in our Newly-acquired Peugeot 908 HDi FAP #1 Team Peugeot Total. For the first 2 stints, we told the "Weakest" of us to just follow the lead car, to get a feel for the pit strategy. Our first stints were on Hard tyres, after we knew the pace of the lead car, on our third stint we went to mediums, guessed how much fuel we would need before another stop, and hit the pedal hard. We won by 2 laps, it was great fun.

B-Spec, well, I couldn't be bothered so I used an X2010 with one driver.

Yeah I hated B-Spec as well. All I have left is the Nurburgring 24H and I need to get a new disc for that. :(

Did both A-spec (Minolta) and B-spec (X2010) back in March.

Did the A-spec (787B Stealth Model) one again a few weeks ago...
The 787B was pure heaven driving in this endurance. 👍
Both times in A-spec, I was lucky enough to have no rain at all :D

A question for those of you who have completed a-spec le mans at least once: what car/setup would you recomend to enjoy a tight race? I'll be using your advice to race it for the first time and -while I don't feel like losing- I don't want to win by an unreal margin.

i know it relies heavily on driving skills (and mine are far from perfect) so maybe it's possible to 'read' through the first hour if the car choice was right or not :P

I'd run any LMP bone stock (as I did), it made it pretty close for a long while. The race started with 3hrs of rain so I ran rain tires, when the AI pit for Inters I did the same, then in dry am running Race Hards (after I got back into it). Currently am 15hrs complete and 00:01:45.xxx ahead.

The problem with trying to get a close race is the massive difference in AI pace between wet and dry conditions. If you're close in the dry, you'll be a lot faster in the wet.

B-Spec also suffers from the stupid pit in strength feature - with an extended dry run, the gap between AI pit stops gets shorter and shorter, with many of them pitting every single lap.

I did B-Spec in the R92CP. Seemed to be winning it without much input so I left it for a few hours, only to find my dense crew nearly 2 laps down. Told them to hurry up and then the aforementioned pit in problem occurred and I won by miles.

A-Spec I did with the 908 Oreca Matmut. No turbo. ABS1 and TCS4. In the dry on RM tyres I was fast enough on raw pace, but errors put me over 2 mins behind after 11 hours. I was going to switch to RS if there was no rain after 12 hours, but then my salvation appeared from above and even without the extra fast cheaty Intermediates, I was able to get all the lost time back and lap the field. Then it dried out again and although the leading AI (Audi R8 '01 I think) unlapped itself, I was no longer making as many mistakes and finished the race only just short of 1 lap ahead. I even managed to run out of fuel in the Porsche Curves due to a basic miscalculation :dunce:

What I don't get is in my race the R10 is just getting destroyed by all other LMP's and the Toyota and Bentley closed cockpit cars. In my race the R10 is having a hard time escaping the R390 :(.

Yup, I am a member of this club. A-Spec completed over a week and a half, in 2-4 hour stints after school (homework, what homework ), straight after update 2.0 brought in-race saves. Did it in a 908 with a turbo - didn't want to risk losing, but wouldn't use the X2010/11... Can't stand that car. Reached Level 40 from Level 38, with 200% bonus :D

Did B-Spec ages ago on the way to reaching Level 40... Just left the PS3 on overnight. Simples

Yeah I’ve done 24 hours of Le Man on both specs, also done 24 hours of Nurburgring on both specs.

I’ve done 24 hours of Le Man on A-spec twice, I did it a second time because the amount of XP you get for doing it was roughly how much I needed to advance to level 40, that was back when XP was not given so liberally. The first time I did Le Man was at least 6 months ago, before we had the ability to save during the race so I tried to get it done as quickly as possible, the most I was able to do each day was 6 hours so I got it done in 4 days.

That first time I used the Audi R10 (no tuning and no aids), I was quite surprised on how fast the competition was (or how slow the R10 was), I slowly built up a lead but the problem was the AI was going about 2 laps longer each stint so I kept losing the lead and taking it back again but I just about had the race under control however an hour or so into the race the Pescarolo C60 (the Hybride I think) worked its way up to 2nd and he caused me a bit of a dilemma, on pace alone I just about had him covered (not if I visited the gravel traps though) but because he was able to go longer each stint and therefore not pit much as much, I worked out he would eventually take the lead. Having done more than an hour I really didn’t want to start again so I’m ashamed to say I had to do some corner cutting in order to hold off the Pescarolo, I wanted to do the race as realistically as possible so I kept the corner cutting to a bare minimum but every so often I would cut the main time saving corners, the Dunlop chicane, Tertre Rouge and the Ford chicane.

The second time I did Le Mans I used the X2010 and this time was not about being realistic, it was to do it as quickly and easily as possible so I would cut the same corners as last time except this time I cut them every lap. Like last time I made sure I did at least 6 hours a day but this time I only had to drive for about 4 or 5 hours (can’t remember exactly) then I could just park up and leave it for 1 or 2 hours and still be in the lead when I came back to it.

I guess it's parking your car in front of the pit entry to stop the AI pitting.
So, park, toggle handbrake and wait for a couple hours?
I've got to try that :D

I just completed 24 Hours of LeMans A Spec. (I have previously completed both 24 hour races in B Spec.)

I planned to start the endurance race the day after I completed the last seasonal on Wednesday and take 6 days at approximately four hours per day. Its a lot of driving but this schedule was reasonable and I didn't become overly bored.

I used at Peugot 908 HDIFAP '10 speced at 726 PP running racing soft on the dry and rain intermediates on the wet. It rained approximately 9 hours and was dry for 15 hours. I completed 376 laps. I won by 12 laps over a C60 Hybrid, and 13 laps over a Speed 8.

My best lap was a 3:20.020 and I was consistently running about 3:25 give or take a few seconds on the dry. In the wet I was running about 30 seconds slower and my best wet lap was a 3:49.887.

This was the first time I had driven an endurance race and therefore hadn't experienced driving lap after lap in the dark and rain or both. The night driving was not a problem as the head lights did a good job, not like the Lambo in the Toscana Tour Special... my best lap time was in the night.

It took me a little while to adjust to the rain. The rain tires are no good and very difficult to drive with. The rain intermediate tires are excellent and I could gauge my traction very well with them. I also adjusted my traction and ABS controls higher for the rain.

Overall it was a fun challenge and required constant attention to driving fast and accurately. 12 laps sounds like a lot but it is only 7 seconds per lap. If I raced on racing hards I probably wouldn't have won.... I will probably use racing mediums when I run the Nurburgring 24 hour and give myself a little more challeng.
