Hey all.

I've been wondering about the '63 Vette Race Car in GT4 and I've been wondering about it for some time  . What I'm wondering is...where did it race/what racing series did it run in?

Does anyone have any info about this car? Thanks to those who contribute.

Edit: nevermind, misunderstood post.

Sorry, I don't know much, other than the Z06 option in '63 was for a "factory race car prep". I'm pretty sure it included a larger fuel tank, different suspension, maybe different brakes and engine too. I think most anybody could order one of these to go road racing back when the american manufacters were in their anti-racing campaign.

Oh, that C2 Race Car. Isn't she sexy? It has great HP, and a nice roar. It's lovely. I think it also makes an agile road racer as well. You may not have a lot of luck in the American GT race series however.

The car is really worth it. I think that it is one of the funnest cars to drive. It actually handles quit well.

Here is some info on the Z06:
Interesting and very informative links that you posted. This is what really got my attention:

Link provided above
Today it is estimated there are between 80 and 100 1963 Z06 cars remaining and the value of these cars has gone from the purchase price near $6,000 to the six-figure mark.

I tried it stock for the muscle car race (models until 1970) but it was under powered. I won the series with the 1969 stingray (stock)

man love the c2 love it just the way the engine sounds at idle it purrs like a kitten, not bad to drive either even though it tends to oversteer a bit bun nothin a little bit of counter steer cant handle

This got your attention why, exactly? The numbers remaining or the price of the remaining cars? The numbers should be no surprise as this was a collectible vehicle when it was made as well as a racer. Given the production run, it is actually a bit surprising that there are that many left, as I'm sure plenty got smeared by their owners. If the cost is startling you, do a quick Google on the AC Cobra. Cars of this vintage and rarity that still exist today easily attain six figures. All in all no surprises here.

RPO (Regular Production Option) z06 was an option available on a 1963 Corvette. It required purchasing the 327/360HP Fuel Injected engine. 199 examples were ordered. Originally the car could only be ordered as a coupe. The option included Heavy Duty Brakes/Suspension. A 36.5 gallon tank and Kelsey Hayes knock off wheels were initially part of the option as well but were deleted. The knock offs were never delivered because the wheels leaked air and the tank would not fit in a convertible, but was available as a seperate option. 63 cars were built with the "Big Tank" and nearly all were z06s.

The first 10 z06s were sent to to professional drivers, and the first 6 were prepared in time for the SCCA Riverside Grand Prix. The 5th of these cars was painted Silver Blue and sent to Bob Bondurant who raced it as #614, the car is currently owned and raced by Vic Edlebrock.

Random thought here; oddly enough was tuning this car up for max speed track runs the other day (I love tuning cars for their absolute maximum top speed, with some carss, that's truly an engrossing game in and of itself! ). It topped out at exactly 280MPH. That's some pretty damn impressive for a 40 year old car!

Stock, no Nos, I was EASILY running it at over 210mph... that's faster than that orange VW W12 stock, for example.

Nice... :) Goes as fast as it looks... ;)
