This is a thread about how the automotive industry decided to make all of there cars look like crap in the 80's and 90's. If you disagree, please do not clutter this thread with your opinions (LEAVE NOW (unless you agree)). Here it goes...

We'll start off with muscle cars...

(Notice the awful blue silver paint jobs)
Pontiac Tempest:

Straying away from muscles now. Some of you my disagree with this next one but...

A gold paintjob is not enough to hide the sheer ugliness of the...

DMC DeLorean

I don't think these ever looked good, but their ugliness peaked with this version of the gross wannabe supercar that is the...

Chevrolette Corvette C4

This is another prime example of the overrated American classic.

Ford Mustang

That's it, but there are plenty more so feel free to post any other 80's and/or 90's beasts (the bad kind).

How is the Corvette a wannabe supercar when it beats the snot out of most 'supercars'.

The boxyness of the 80's and 90's is awesome. It beats the hell out of most of the modern ugly disproportionate sport luxury cars we are currently riddled with.

Also whats up with the annoying font, and size that got progressively bigger through the post?

I said not to clutter the thread with pathetic rants.

People are obviously too sensitive for anyone to call attention to the ugliness of MOST cars, luxury and supercars do not follow this trend, they have a different set of rules. BTW that viper you posted is a diamond in the rough and is 90's-proof.

If you title a thread "The Official 80's and 90's car thread, then it's expected you will get posts saying nice things about 80's and 90's cars.

If you don't want said posts, I suggest you create a new thread entitled the "80's and 90's car hate thread."

Whoops. We don't condone hate here on GTPlanet.

Thread stays for now, but keep it clean. This is no way an endorsement on the part of the site owner/administrators/moderators as to the "Official" part of this thread's title.

Can't find the rant. And that's comical if you think I'm a troll. I'm simply stating an opinion. Don't like it? Then why are you here.

I'm in the does not compute category aswell. How the hell can you say that the Corvette is an over rated car?? :odd: The C4 ZR1 was the best American car to come out since the muscle car era. 👍 This isn't a pathetic rant either, it's an honest question asking you how you think the C4 ZR1 is over rated??

I still think this and the F40 are beautiful cars...

Ridiculous theory... Sure there were some ugly cars, but there were in every generation, I don't think the 80s or 90s have more than any other era.

EDIT: I have a good way to test your theory, scroll through the "Did you see anything good today?" thread, as it is very much public opinion in there, and see what percentage of those cars are from the era in question. I would think it's a large percentage.

"All blanket statements are dumb" - me.

Ok, if you don't agree with my opinions, you can kindly leave because this is not the thread for you. I don't hate these cars, I just think that what was considered stylish back then was a little off. Not all cars were like this, mainly just GMs and Chryslers of the time. They were good cars, I just don't think they looked good. You don't have to insult me or the thread itself if you disagree. You are not trolls like I said, just hypocrites. You claim that you are just expressing opinions but when I do it is hate. I'm sorry to those who disagree, but no one can help you, you have to just let it go. You do not have to post any more rants ("opinions") claiming they did not look bad, because they did to me, and that is an opinion i'll always have.

How was a Pontiac Tempest anything close to a muscle car? It was a Canada only Chevrolet Corsica with an arrow head badge on it. It was crap when it was new and now is driven by people looking for $500 junkers.

Your picture of the Dodge Charger is actually a Dodge Rampage, and even then neither were very muscley, if anything the Charge of the day was more along the lines of a sport compact.

The Dodge Challenger also isn't a muscle car, it was a rebadged Mitsubishi Galant and even built in Japan. And the picture you posted is actually a Plymouth Sapporo. The car was also classified as a compact, sort of like a predecessor to the Avenger I would guess.

For actual muscle cars of the 80's and 90's, you had the Camaro, Trans Am, Grand National, Monte Carlo, and so on. You also had the Typhoon and Syclone which would probably wipe the floor with any of those as they hung with the Ferrari's of their day.

There is also nothing over-rated about the 5.0 Fox Body, they are stupidly cheap to buy and make fast. It's similar to how the Miata is to autocross, expect the Mustang would end up being a drag car.

See my official apology above. If that does not satisfy you, then get over it.

I thought this was a thread to discuss 80's and 90's cars? I mean it's the Official thread right? All I was doing was pointing out the errors in your classifications and pictures.

And just some helpful advice to a new member like yourself from an old timer, you might want to tone down the attitude just a few notches. It'll make your time on the site much more enjoyable 👍.

Don't make a thread on a Internet forum and assume everyone is going to sit here and agree with you. Look in the Import thread and it's full of casual disagreements.

Try again nicely, don't bother at all.

If that does not satisfy you, go to another forum.
