I hope this doesnt turn out to be stupid.
Seriously?

Yes.

The A-Team is an upcoming feature film based on The A-Team television series planned for release on June 11, 2010, produced by 20th Century Fox. As of January 28, 2009, director Joe Carnahan is set to direct and Ridley and Tony Scott are set to produce. The plot will involve a shift from Vietnam to the Middle East

I'm really, really getting sick of re-treading old territory and trying to make things seem "relevant" by paralleling current events. It does not trick us into thinking the movie is any deeper or more revelatory than it actually is.

That said, is anyone looking forward to this?

No one can play Mr. T except Mr. T.

Exactly! This is going to be just complete crap, it would be the same if they decided to do a new knight rider...oh wait, they did and it was horrible. The A-Team was one of my top 5 favorites growing up and its sad they are reaching for these shows from the past that were so great and just putting a bad mark on my brain when I will think about the show. Instead of thinking, god that was a good show I will think, god that was a good show and they tried to remake it and it was so horrible. Whats next, a live action He-Man?

Why does Hollywood keep making movies that nobody really wants or asked for?

Also, this is from Quinton Jackson's(plays Mr. T) Wikipedia page.

He looks nothing like a Mr. T.

:indiff:👎

quinton is gangsta. His whoopass skills are quite good. He tosses and slams grown men like they are ragdolls.
I don't know if he can pull off good acting though :/

I thought Jim Carrey was going to play Murdoch, George Clooney to play Hannibal ?.?. Can't remember any others, it was just what i read off some website :dunce:

I think it would be just hilarious if it was turned into a gritty re-imagining like that trash of a Miami Vice movie was.

This just screams "stupid" and "desperate" What next?

Kojak? Columbo? The Pretender? Mary Tyler Moore?

Oh, I know...Nancy Drew Mysteries. :yuck:

Ignoring the fact that he's like gazillion years old.

Oh, you have to be kidding me!

It was even worse than the Brady Bunch sequel. They turned Nancy Drew into a kitsch retro throwback... which has nothing to do with the original... at all.

Not that I... uh... ever read the original books... srsly...

Dunno... could go either way... would have been better if they didn't try to consciously model Rampage's character after Mr.T.

I know Mr.T is B.A.Barracus to most people. Most people don't even think the name: "B.A." when they think of his character in the A-Team (as evinced above)... they simply think "Mr.T". And truth, Mr.T merely played himself for that character. But as long as they don't try to go there (and getting rid of the haircut will go a long way to doing that...), the remake should be fine.

I'll admit that I'm excited about it. Bradley Cooper is an awesome actor, and almost anything with Liam Neeson is worth seeing. Plus, its the second gig for the dude from District 9. I'm eager to see more work from him as well. I didn't watch the show religiously growing up, so I'm not that worried about how things work out. Of course, to have it work out well would be awesome, and I think they've got a pretty solid crew there.

Hey, I liked the Miami Vice redux, and Miami Vice is one of my all-time favorite television shows. Michael Mann wouldn't let me down like that.

All I gotta say is Fail.

I'm not even going to give the movie a chance. What the hell happened to having your own ideas, y'know, that thing called originality? They remade Knight Rider (to a lesser extent) and what did we end up with?

A Mustang that had Fast and the Furious qualities.

Well I do agree, currently there is this "old is new" thing going around so movie studios are figuring they can cash in by making re-making movies/turning old shows into movies or bringing old ones back to life(Rocky, Rambo, Indiana Jones).

Blame it on the Gen-X and Gen-Y types getting to control the media now. I'd call it the "Dane Cook Effect," based solely on the "Remember when 'X' Existed" jokes and references to make yourself feel important for living in the 1980s.

Hooray for my generation of self-obsessed hipsters!

"Let's take one of the most over the top and stylish and influential TV series ever made that worked largely because of a strong buddy/friendship mechanic and the popularity that only something in the 1980s can have, and make it into a movie 20 years later. Now let's run it through the next-gen filter to get rid of those nasty colors that aren't brown. Now let's, instead of creating characterization and writing that allows the main characters to play off each other, make everything gritty. Now let's make it so the buddy mechanic is made up entirely of two guys who seem to want to punch each other rather than bust each others chops. There is certainly no way that this final product will not look exactly like the Miami Vice everyone knows and won't admit to loving anymore."

It's like they made a Wacky Races movie and it came out looking like Death Race, but then decided to call it Wacky Races anyways, because, you know, what the hell. And the problem is even worse with The A-Team, because it is even more of a product of the 80's than Miami Vice was (the irony being that this statement is being made by someone born 3 months after the 80s ended, but that is neither here nor there). And based on the promo shot and the vague description of change of setting, it looks like it will have the exact same problem.

Most of what I can remember that was cool about the A Team was this.

So what do you think their new ride is going to look like now? Maybe one of this.

All of those images, bar the original are downright scary.

I'd imagine it'd be a Hummer, or some other POS. I'd bet you it transforms into a scuba boat, too. Why can't they just leave the 80's where they belong - the 80's.

Let's see...what's next on the "let's fcvk up people's rendition of the 80's" tour?

An Unsolved Mysteries movie?
Beverly Hills Cop?
The Breakfast Club?
Ferris Bueller's Day Off?

*Cringes*

With our luck, Ferris Bueller will be... *shudder* someone like Zac Effron instead of a natural comedian like Shia LeBeouf (though I don't know if Shia can carry off that same low-key vibe Matthew Broderick gave the character).

And it'll be sponsored by Audi... with an R8 standing in for the Ferrari. Or sponsored by GM with a Corvette. You know those are the only two ways it will ever pan out...

:odd: Riiiiight, if that IS indeed the van they're using, it better have the right paint scheme, no sound system (since the guys need somewhere to sit), and no brand names on it (besides GMC)!

Edit: That is NOT the van they're using, it's Kicker's van to show off their new Warhorse Amplifier.

They are still using a van similar to the TV show, as evidenced here.

Edit 2: Haha, same pic as the one in YSSMAN's link. :P

Just looked over the Wiki page and saw Jessica Biel is going to be apart of the cast, she'll be playing Carissa.

Which reminds me...

...Who the hell is Carissa? :odd:

She'll be Murdock's long lost sister.

One who drives boats.

In bikinis.

I could be completely wrong... but I hope I'm not.
