The AUP is here for two main reasons: to keep the place civil, legal, and decent. I can't really think of many "adult" topics, that when discussed appropriately (homosexuality, whatever) would violate the AUP or the principles I just listed. If parents really don't want their child to read anything like that, then that is their responsibility. I also think it's really best for the site if it is divided in as few ways as possible.

I agree with the last part of that post. If we were a community why would we be dividing the forums?

Would you suggest perhaps a separate forum, where the rules and regulations are set to a higher standard. There would be no second or third offense, simply a misstep would warrant a banning. I have no problem with that. A simple statement at the top of the forum stating that each and every person posting in this forum, would be held to a significantly higher degree. any brush with the AUP would warrant a banning.AO
Are you meaning a full banning, or just from that forum?

I think that Famine is meaning. A place where you can have a civilized conversation about anything, with civilized people. This sounds like the Conversation Forum already. I know. I mean The last thing you want to happen is. After having a big argument Eg That GT4 Not Online thread. You go somewhere, where there are more n00bs (Depending on who you think are n00bs) and there is the temptation of getting into another argument. You wouldn't want that. You'd want a place where you can just shrug your shoulders and calm down. Think of it this way. There is a School. It has classrooms, playgrounds, A hall and a gym. Anyone can be in those places. Then you have the Staffroom. That's only for teachers, to get away from it all. That's what this forum would be. The Staffroom.

Now I'm For this Forum, but to some extent, I'm also against it. It would be very strenuous for the mods, so alot of trust would have to put in. I'd recomend the senior members would run the forum. Eg Famine and a few other people who have been around for a long time. I also agree with what Jordan said. I sort of have an idea upon how members can get in. The members already in, can just evaluate how those members have been during the course of their time here. Eg Behaviour, Member status etc, etc.

It is something worth looking into.

I suspect, in the broadest terms, that there already is a staffroom - a moderator discussion forum. Seeing as there is one on all other fora of which I am a moderator. And there are already a number of invite only fora - the GTPlanet Boards Challenge forum, from the last 9 Boards, for instance.

But yes - that's sort of the general idea. :D "Staffroom". I like it... :D

Even though I probably wouldn't be invited, I think Der Alta's idea at the top of the page is quite a good one.

I happen to like it here.

But I would remiss if I did not suggest things I saw as possible improvements.

There is already a place for "mature" discussion in the opinions forum, when someone tries to spam that place they are rightfully shot down in flames. The conversation forum, (whilst civilized) is more of a place for "kids" (not derogatory) as the topics seem to be school, crushes on girls and fear of rejection ;) If you've had a look recently...8 years!!! thats amazing, I've raised a family and split up in that time :)

Age verification would be useless, as said above, you could easily create an account that said you were 30. I don't display my age in my profile for the opposite reason...I'm way old, but I still love GT. You can easily recognise a "mature" individual by the way they post, and if you want to converse with them without being disturbed by "Spam monsters" like Dolph and Lui then a PM is an easy option. I know I have a couple of good friends here that I chat with using said method :)

You've been reading my posts?

8 years is a hell of a time.

Yes there are places to go and have civilized conversations. The problem is. They only last for a small while, as everyone goes into those forums and says stupid things, which turns it into a circus.

I don't get it, what sort of topics that haven't been covered already that would need to be discussed in an "Adults Only" forum? Mortgages and Tax-shelter strategies?

We have an Opinions Forum, which usually deals with topics of greater gravity, and a Rumble Strip that covers just about everything else. And certain topics in either forum don't necessarily bring out immaturity, anyhow. Usually, if the first couple of posts are thoughtful and well-constucted, it doesn't necessarily spell eminent chaos when a few doltish comments appear.

Honestly, maybe if we just did a little bit more ignoring an overlooking of petty things like a seven-line signature size, the occasional five-smiley parade, or a double post, maybe things might become a little more civilized. Many members are at each other's throats over quite trival matters that are broken "unwritten" rules (non-AUP) at best.

In short, we don't need an Adults-Only forum. Aren't there enough outlets for us all by now?

i came here expecting porn or something and am depressed to find a somewhat interesting conversation. :indiff: If only society would be released from urrational social stigmas and embrace a peace and understanding for eachother... blah blah... everthing i wanted to say has already been said and im too lazy to quote... :dopey:

You are not going to find porn here, Gabkicks. Not in a million years.

Hey 8 years and I tried! But I got rejected. I'm not really fearing to be rejected, if I am so be it. I really shouldn't be posting this so i'll stop.

So are we actually taking about adult topics here now?

If so I got one...

I'd like to know why it's so "Taboo" for workplace relationships? I know there's certain obvious ones like say two lawyers that are on different sides of the same case or if it's a employee/boss relationship but why if it's just two co workers? I've heard more and more of this.
