any ideas, thanks
In addition to what Giles said concerning insurance, I can say that the 850 Turbo didn't come out until 1994 (the model came out in 1993 but the 222bhp turbo was late arriving).
How dare you compare a Volvo S80 2.9 with a ****ty japanese car? Havent you heard that Volvo makes one of the safests car in the world?
So quit saying stupid things..
It's too bad you don't know how wrong you are. Let's begin with that I'm comparing the S80 T6 to the Infiniti M45 (with the optional Comfort and Convenience Package). And since you called it 'stupid,' I'm going to prove you wrong. Because, in my view, not only are
you stupid, but ignorant also. At least we can take care of that second one.
Spec
S80 T6 unique spec: 4-speed automatic, daytime running lights, emergency inside trunk release, split-folding rear seat with trunk pass-through, power folding rear headrests, rear fog light, 17" wheels, power sunroof, front fog lights (9)
M45 (C&C) unique spec: 5-speed automatic, brake assist, automatic dual-zone climate controls, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, driver seat with lumbar adjustment, wood interior trim, mirrors with turn signals, Bose 6-disc CD player, power decklid, automatic headlights, floormats, Xenon headlights, 18" wheels, power passenger-side tilt-down back-up mirror aid, steering wheel memory, tire-pressure monitor, automatic day/night side mirrors, compass, full-size spare tyre (19)
Common spec: manual-shift capability, traction control, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, front-seat active head restraints, antilock brakes, antiskid system, air-conditioning with dual-zone climate controls, interior air filter, power steering, tilt/telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel with radio controls, cruise control, leather upholstery, front bucket seats, power driver and passenger seat, center console, cupholders, heated power mirrors with memory, driver seat memory, power windows, power locks, keyless entry, AM/FM/cassette/CD player, clock, tachometer, outside temperature indicator, illuminated visor mirrors, automatic day/night rear-view mirror, rear defogger, map lights, alloy wheels, alarm, trip computer, variable-intermittent wipers, universal garage door opener (37)
Other
The Infiniti M45, even including the Comfort & Convenience Package that I greedily added, starts at
$43300. The Volvo S80 T6 with no options starts at
$44500. That means the M45 is cheaper by $1200.
Spec stands above, with 37 shared features, 19 M45-unique features, and just 9 S80-unique features, two of which are a 4-speed automatic (where the M45 has a 5-speed) and 17" wheels (where the M45 has 18" wheels). On safety, which was your main reason for saying the S80 was better, the vehicles share many of the same features, though you do get daytime running lights. Meanwhile, the M45 has standard brake-assist and a tyre-pressure monitor, which the Volvo can't claim. Does that mean the M45's safer?
Power is another place the M45 shines - 340bhp, 333lb-ft. Your Volvo has 268bhp (a loss of 72) and 280lb-ft (a loss of 53). And remember, the M45's still cheaper and has more spec.
I concede fuel economy. Your Volvo gets an EPA average 22, where the M45 gets 20.
Interior room is another category I concede, though hardly, in both average and total:
- Front head room: M45=39.8"; S80=38.9"
- Front leg room: M45=42.1"; S80=42.2"
- Rear head room: M45=37.3"; S80=37.6"
- Rear leg room: M45=32.5"; S80=35.9"
- Trunk space: M45=13.4cuft; S80=14.4cuft
For performance, the M45 is also better, as it should be. Its 340bhp propels it to 60mph in 6.6 seconds, a half-second better than the S80. Steering and handling is also better in the M45, as it should be since it was supposedly engineered for performance (unlike the S80).
Conclusion
Congratulations - you've got better fuel economy and interior room. Meanwhile, the M45 has better performance, more spec, more power and still manages to be $1200 cheaper.
Happy?
