Thx for the heads up =)
But Nintendo has announced the 3DS to be release at March 27, 2011 at price range around $250.
Price isnt worthy for me. Might as well get a new wheel with the money.

Oh and this should belong at the Nintendo section

I was psyched, even knowing it was going to cost $250. Then I learned that Nintendo hadn't cleaned up the design from E3. Then I heard that games would be going up to $50. Then I heard that it would have friend codes. Then I heard that it was region locked, which by itself would have been enough for me to tell Nintendo to shove it up the usual place. The fact that most of the games shown at launch look pretty much on par with a typical PSP games or worse (the only real exception being Resi) is only icing on the cake of my loathing.

Far too pricey to get anywhere near the DS numbers Nintendo are used to.

Agree Toronado. Remember we had our little fight over the 3DS graphics in the PSP2 thread? I said I never believe the games will look better/on par with Xbox1 or even PS2? You said they will look better than PS2/Gamecube..well...:p:D

Does this thing play standard DS games? I had a DS lite a few years ago that my brothers kids used to play and broke it, still got a few of the original Ds games id like to play, without having to buy the old hardware.

I can't say I'm happy with it. The 3D effects are not that good and after a while, you will get a bit uneasy. It would be a much better handheld if they ditched the 3D aspect all together, dropped the price, and just made it a bigger and more powerful DSx.

I don't even know mate but I believe it's possible.

Nintendo announced a HUGE pricecut.

"Nintendo has announced a huge cut in the recommended price of the 3DS, slashing almost half the original 25,000 Yen price to leave it at just 15,000 Yen - roughly 118GBP.

The price cut comes alongside the company's financial results for Q1, 2012, published this morning, which revealed a fairly static loss of 25.5 billion Yen and halved sales revenues.

The 3DS sold just 710,000 units worldwide during the three months between April 1 and June 30, 2011.

In a brief release accompanying the announcement, Nintendo acknowledged the need to "build momentum" for the 3DS brand, adding that the cut was timed to coincide with the release of some big name games on the system, confirming that Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 will be in shops in November and December respectively.

The adjustment will happen this quarter in the rest of the world, but the schedule will be "different in Japan", with the release also suggesting that the "range of the markdown" will also vary in Nintendo's home territory."

I can't believe how bad the 3DS has done so far. The price has dropped to around £100, thats half price! I read somewhere its the quickest substantial price drop in console history.

I don't think it will be around much longer. 3D even without the glasses still doesn't seem to be selling point they thought it would be.

Nintendo are planning a BIG announcement at TGS, seems it might be a total re brand and redesign of the 3DS (a bit like what the PS3 went through).

We are a couple weeks away from TGS (Tokyo Game Show) and rumors are swirling that Nintendo has a big announcement that will come at the start of the show. The rumors stem from Nintendo’s stock prices taking a 8.4% jump on Tuesday because of a press conference Nintendo is said to be organizing. Several major news organizations Wall Street Journal and Fox Business, are sourcing a Dow Jones report stating Nintendo has announced the event.

The speculation right now is Nintendo has something big planned for the 3DS, one rumor being that Nintendo will find a way to put a second analog stick on the system as a peripheral. There are some even crazier rumors that Nintendo will actually re-brand the 3DS and take all the focus away from the 3D aspect of the system.

There are even rumors that could piss a lot of people off who already bought a 3DS, but some people are speculating that a new 3DS will be announced for next year that will not focus on 3D and it will come with a built in second analog stick. This is pretty big news, because if true I think there could be a lot of angry 3DS fans who already purchased a 3DS and what would this do to current 3DS sales considering people would most likely wait until next year to buy the new 3DSi or whatever they call it?

Nintendo seems to really fail. New rumours say they're also struggling with the development of the Wii_U, which could postpone the release by 3 months.
