Though it seems a bit late in life, I just discovered the magic of Stevie Wonder's music this past weekend
It's never too late to discover the genius of Stevie Wonder

- I had completely ignored Stevie Wonder until about 5 years ago, when I saw a documentary about the making of the album '
Songs In The Key Of Life' (1976) - and then got the album for my birthday - I listened to it solidly for about 4 months!! 'Sir Duke' and 'I Wish' were the first songs I really liked, but the whole album is a cast-iron masterpiece...
I can also reiterate what Zardoz has said, but to add to that '
Fulfillingness' First Finale' (1974) as well - not quite as solid as 'Innervisions' or 'SITKOL', but some great songs nevertheless.
My favourite Stevie Wonder songs are almost too numerous to list, but ones that I like that are similar in tone to 'Overjoyed' would have to be the following (in approximate order of similaritousnicity):-
Ribbon In The Sky (from 'Original Musiquarium I') ( beautiful song 👍 )
Lately (from 'Hotter Than July')
Too Shy To Say (from 'Fulfillingness' First Finale')
Blame It On The Sun (from 'Talking Book')
Love's In Need Of Love Today and
As (from 'Songs In The Key Of Life')
and possibly also
Golden Lady (from 'Innervisions')
Hmmm.... I just noticed that my copy of 'Overjoyed' is nowhere to be found on my computer
edit: from
allmusic.com:- "
Celebrating the arrival of a new baby daughter was the genesis of "Isn't She Lovely," from his Songs in the Key of Life album. Wonder was reflecting on the love of his family when he composed "Overjoyed."
edit 2: Check out his discography
here:- first album when he was 12, recorded 'Uptight' at 16, and 'Innervisions' at 23... god how depressing
