I'd add that the exit speed from every corner that goes before a long straight makes a world of difference in time. That consecutive curves you mentioned are followed (after two more curves) by a long straight and where, just before reaching the top of the steep climb I find useful to let go off the accel to calm the car and keep it on the ground, it just drops to 5th gear and after aiming the car to the proper direction just passing closely by the curb, full throttle again. Reaching that long high speed curve just after the next climb, I repeat the same method, with slight trail braking before it, entering in 5th and then full throttle again followed by braking exactly at beggining of the braking line down to low 3rd, passing full throttle that curve from I'd say mid corner.

This is tiring to write out haha..

Thanks for the tips, but I can barely keep these cars from sliding off the road in a straight away let alone finding the perfect entry and exit

It also helps to adjust the brake bias.

What do you set your brakes at? I'm working on Beginner Section 2 with a DS3 and 0 TC the best i've come is 0.883 off gold time, and my average run is between 2:21.994 and 2:24.000. I've tried it about 30 times today.

Section 1 beginner is the only one i've ever golded. Every other I've silvered

I'm not sure you can play with the brake bias in AMG challenges.

Driving tips I gave few posts up are mainly for SLS, 300SL requires slightly different approach, smoothness and keeping it in the power band is the key.. For example, some curves where you drop the gear and you catch it (we're talking about automatic driving here) in the high revs on the exit is not good. Throttle control is mandatory with this car so you should lightly touch acc sometimes, not only go off/on on the power.

I'll try to describe second sector here, I still don't know the names of the curves but I hope you find it useful:

You're starting the sector where I stopped describing in the last post. Goes without saying there is a full throttle down the hill, keep the car on the asphalt without touching the curbs when going uphill. This left curve is a tricky one, because it is blind, sharp, and very bumpy on exit. It is also a rare spot on the track where the indicated braking line is not really correct. You can start to brake at around half of the length of the red line, aim the car so that left curb is at the middle of the cars width, no throttle, no hard braking there, as soon as you pass it, touch throttle to accelerate followed by hard braking into thrd, try not to slide sideways into next right curve, bumpy road will send you right across in the grass. Half accel to the left curve, brake and enter early so you can have proper position at the exit of the right one that follows. The right one pass with slight accel in the second, push to the metal as soon as you feel that car can keep the line out of it, you should hit third very fast. Then we come to the high speed left curve which is a tricky one. Try to be on the line before entering, do not hard brake because it will send the car in the grass when exiting. Trail brake into the curve, car shouldn't even drop into lower gear, just reach low rpms of the gear you find yourself in (i can't remember what gear it was) and push the accel again when you feel you're on the right line. Now the left one is also a bit tricky, You have to be correct on braking to follow up through the two next curves. Brake strong and gradually let go of the brake so you don't slide too much, you should be passing this in low third or high second gear.

The right curve that follows is simple, start braking easy because you're entering curve and braking, drop it to second I think, you should be tightly near right curb, at middle of the curve you should accelerate out, that should put you on the far left side on the curb but not over it. Continue with full accel through the S bend, make sure that you're having proper line through (find it). Now the long tricky right bend, I can't really put it into words. Try to brake as the brake line indicates at the beginning, use throttle to adjust line while you're passing through, last third of the curve can be passed full throttle even if you do not see it yet. Now into the slow bends, first short right than strong left. Between them you can accel a bit, make sure your car is not positioned to the right when you start braking otherwise you'll end up smacking into wall. So smoothly throttle yourself out of the left curve, the following right one can be taken at full throttle. Brake on time and do not slide for the passage left-left that comes next. A soon you feel you can push, push it. The up right curve can be passed without hard braking before and no full throttle. It is bumpy, you will have to find balance for yourself as per position you're taking through it.
Full power through the next left one, brake on time and "sit" the car in the mid corner, position near the right curb, it should have you at full throttle on the left curb on exit and with proper speed to get the needed time.

Happy New Year also:)

Yep you can play with the brake bias, the default is 5 front and 5 rear and you can use the menu to fiddle with it.

On Beginner Sector 2 Dry I'm down to a best of 2:21.342 and I seriously can't beat that time with an average of 2:22 and change. I know i'm not executing the last major turn properly before the finish and i'm losing speed. I just can't seem to maintain control of the car well enough to get through at a decent pace. I've looked at the examples and videos on Youtube, but my car steers so sluggish and ends up into the wall at the entry speed I see in the videos unless I drop the speed it just doesn't corner for me.

I've gone and dropped a bunch more times on other AMG challenges, in the dry on all but sector 4 i'm within 2 seconds and about 4 seconds in the wet.

In the wet i honestly can't stop the cars from skating, its just a cacophony of tire squeel. I've really tried to find the perfect throttle control but its between high silver times and crashing into every wall.

I've been running with manual transmission and the driving line off. Frankly I hate manual with the DS3 because I have no feeling for the car at all and no real feeling for the throttle control, but i was getting crappier times with Auto.

Anyways, I've wasted a whole day on AMG and haven't really gotten anywhere. So i'm kinda cranky :/. I appreciate the tips and suggestions and will give them a shot in a day or too.

Happy New year too you btw.

The AMG Driving Academy remains my favorite event of GT5 to date. I wouldn’t call it difficult as I would challenging. The driving line is a great way to get used to each of the sections, but it’s important to keep in mind that you shouldn’t follow it exactly. Some corners you can floor it right through and other corners you should brake late into. Keep it on or turn it off after some practice if you want an “honest” try. The individual sections feel like you need to push the car a lot more, while in the full laps you should go soft and easy (full laps I golded on my first try). Remember, slower and on the road is faster than fast and off the road (and into the wall). Brake bias, TCS, and ASM are all things you would adjust (usually off and 6/4 bias worked for me).
