Ok, so i did the Ferrari seasonal event and i bought the audi r10 TDI.
i took it out for a drive and woah what a monster! Its the most exciting car to drive in gt5! And now, as im writing this, im asking myself this: what do the other people think about the awesome audi r10 TDI? So what do you think, was it worth the money? And why/why not? I really want to know.....

It's alright, but the Peugeot 908 and the Mazda 787B are around the same price range ta and are faster. Its alright but there's better LMPs.

well ive not driven it but im guessing it will be like the 908 hdi fap and thats a beast.

Peugot 908 is much more exciting, I do like the R10 TDI alot, but the 908 can make 922hp and 1022 Lb/Ft Torque, and is absolutly awsome to drive, and the 787B is ridiculous around the turns!

I actually don't find that car that great, it seems like it should be faster.

From cockpit view this car is great!

It was one of the first cars I purchased(that wasnt a requirement for an event) and I was surprised at how it didnt "wow" me. Excellent car, but the 908 takes it at every aspect.

dash view is excellent though. The 908 is hard to drive from inside.

R10 is fantastic, worth a lot. Though the 908 is faster, the cockpit view of the R10 are more detailed, more exciting to drive. I like the german's more.

The Mazda 787 is a monster of the monsters, a must have too!

R10 is certainly fast, but everything else in its class is even faster. Too bad most of them are standards... :(

Well if you balance the field with PP settings the R10 can compete with them. 700PP is pretty good to get a almost equal LMP/Group C grid.

And at 700PP, im faster with my R10 then I am with my 908 HDI FAP (eventhough the Pug is still stock while my R10 has a turbo charger stage 2).

For comparision:
My best lap time at LeMans (2009 with chicanes) so far with the R10 is a 3:21.1xx (Racing Softs, Turbocharger stage 2, 700PP). I made some minor mistakes and lost about 5 tenths at the Mulsanne corner, but has anyone managed to get below 3:20 with that car? (Without corner cutting etc of course...)

I think that reason for R10's success is also the thing that it's a beast in the corners and it doesn't drink very much diesel. It has an awesome cockpit view too. Of course 787B and 908 are faster, but they use more gasoline.

Not the fastest by any means, but do take it to the nurburgring ring it comes alive on there as it corners so well and very resoncive, just dont expect it to beat the other LMP's and Group C cars round Le Sarthe unless your racing the AI.

You know that the 908 HDI FAP is a Diesel too?

It's a great car to drive.
I'm just saddened by the fact that it's outpaced in the longer endurance events.

It's a nice car, i own from the first i play the game. (Stealth Edition...lol. :p)
But i prefer the Pug 908.
Haven't buy the 787b yet though.

I also like the Peugeot more, but it's the only Premium LMP without a roof, so it's still a cool experience (also have the "Stealth" from my Signature Edition).

The first thing in my mind is that the Audi R10 TDI sounds much louder in GT5 than it does in real life. The car sounds really muffled in real life, but PD decided to give it a little more oomph in the sound department. I have found the Audi R10 TDI to actually be a bit faster than the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. It is also, however, a bit tougher to handle and keep stable than the 908. Perhaps the biggest perk of the Audi R10 TDI is that is the only open-top prototype that is Premium in GT5. This car is a bit easier to see out of than the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. So if you want to enjoy Premium action with an LMP, save up 4.25 Million Credits (or however much it is) and go get this car.

I apologize for making this sound like a comparison though this thread is completely about the Audi R10 TDI, but I just wanted to make some extra points.

I agree that it is much more easy to see out of. I have seen the Audi race multiple times in person, and I also agree that it is quiter than GT5 leads you too believe. I always heard the drivers say that at high speeds they can't even hear the engine over the wind noise and the transmission.

However, I found the car much slower at La Mans in the game, like in real life. As much as I love the R10, I prefer the 908, but still is an excellent purchase.

First of all, the OP shouldn't have bought the R10 because it is a prize car for winning the 24 hours of Nurburgring A-spec.

But yes, the Audi R10 is one of my all-time favorites in GT5. It's the only non-F1 premium car whose cockpit view is not blocked by a windshield. And just listen to that cockpit experience!

And another thing to point out:

Does anybody know why the maximum rear ride height is -10

My Pescarolo C60 Hybride has that same glitch.

The sad thing is that this is the only LMP that is Premium in GT5. So if you want the Premium LMP experience, go with the Audi R10 TDI. Another sad thing- this car is much louder in GT5 than it is when I hear the onboard videos of the R10 TDI. I literally swear you could hear rushing winds that are louder than the R10 TDI. The muffled roar (if you can call it a roar) is MUCH quieter than what the R10 TDI sounds like.

That is quite a corner cut on the last chicane a little after the 1 min mark. Is that deemed the accepted racing line there?

I have all 3 the 908,787b & the r10 and I tell you the 787b & 908 are above the r10 in handle, speed and corners...btw I'm driving with all aid off including abs in 0

The Peugeot 908 is Premium as well (and there are two 908s- the Works team and Team Oreca-Mamut's). Then there's the Mazda 787B and while it's categorized as Group C, it is essentially a Prototype race cars as well.

I don't think so, but this years Le Mans I saw the R18 cut the chicane every single lap, but not as much of a cut, the left 2 wheels on the kurb.

The R10 is wicked, difficult but I still prefer it over the Peugeot. The R10 has visibility, feel and fun. The Pug is faster, but isn't as fun.
