the power output of both cars are 3hp apart, so yes they are very alike

FPV GT: 687HP
Holden Commodore SS: 684HP

see?
Just because cars have the exact same HP, Weight and Torque, does not mean that they will be exactly even. Things like Wheel Base, Center of Gravity, Aerodynamics of the car, that can not be changed contribute a large factor to the speed of the car.

well, to answer your queries, i did some test laps at fuji speedway 2005 gt with both of these cars and found that, when i drove them, both their laptimes were very similar. i can't remeber the laptimes, but i can tell you this: i have found that both cars are extremely similar. how fast they go around the track all depends on how well you drive them!!!

Count me in my man. The FPV saleman just got himself a nice slice of commission, I'm heading to the garage any time soon to get me my racing car!

And I know I already told you in PM, but so everyone knows what I think this is an awesome idea!

And a control tyre... ;)

:nervous: This could get really technical - Nitro_2005 needs to draw the line somewhere.

dont forget the suspension
they get limited change to the suspension

You guys goatta get off nitro's back. No wonder he cancel's events, you guys bombard him with these ridiculous ideas.(I do not know this for a fact, nor am I'm not going to look it up. This post is to keep the simplicty of the season nitro had in mind simple.) :)

- ASM and TCS should be optional due to people's driving abalities, it can even out the field.
-A controlled gear would be ok if Nitro set the gear ratio for each week.
-And as for the suspenion, I think that should be left to the user, seeing that different suspenion settings for different people can decide whether they are fast or not. By limiting the tuning options, it would become unfair to alot of people, and it would be almsot imposible to enforce as a rule.

I do have one idea though. I think that at the mid-way point of the season, all the drivers should have to do a chassis refresh.

I'm getting pretty hyped up about this. I can't wait. These are the first cars I watched race after I got into racing. God I miss the old Speed TV. Dam NASCAR. :grumpy:

IMO, I think Fuji would be better for a Phillip Island event, the tracks are very alike.

I think this looks like a very exciting series. Unfortunatly I just don't have the time to commit to it.
Just on the topic of the setups, I think the suspension should be free, The V8 Supercar teams don't all run the same spring rates and shock absorber settings. A control tyre is a good idea but it would be sacrelidge for people to not go through the second hand wheel section and find the OZ Racing wheels found on Seton's Ford Falcon. The gear ratios could be tricky. I have tried this kind of thing myself with the Commodore and Falcon. The gear ratios should be setup and left and only the diff ratio should be changed because if the auto setting is changed, all the ratios for 1st through to 6th gears are changed and they will be different for the Commodore and Falcon.
Just as an example my Commodore weighs 1562kg, has 598hp and a torque value of 82.20kgfm at 4000rpm. It's power to weight ratio is 2.612:1
My Falcon weighs 1553kg, has 594hp and a torque value of 77.22kgfm at 4500rpm. It's power to weight ratio is 2.614:1
At Grand Valley with the same suspension/shock absorber and gear/diff ratios the Commodores fastest lap was 1.49.536 while the Falcons fastest lap was 1.49.234. That is not much of a difference and I think I could have got more out of each car but the acceleration behavior and gear change points were marginally different.
I'm only using my experience as an example that as long as the cars are close in power to weight the times should be pretty similar, i'm not expecting nitro to change his setups.

well, i looked at the hidden valley map and fuji resembles it better IMO. but thanks for your input.

where the hell is bathuerst, indy(goldcoast)

Taken from 1st post:
11-15 March - El Capitan 200 Miles (Bathurst 1000) - El Capitan 200 Miles Enduro

25-29 March - New York (Surfers' Paradise) - GT World Champ. Race 6

ejr_1.....I was fully into the WRC that Nitro was setting up, it was 100 times a better setup than jump_ace (no offence to him), I liked the idea of a JWRC/Super1600 category, it was well thought out. That's why I'm doing 2 teams in this because it's actually something I would've setup if I had more time, but I've got enough on my hands now as it is taking over the 1/4 mile thread from K-Briggs. :)

Mafs!!

Hey nitro, I was doing the JGTC race(the one in my sig) tonight, and it poped into my head. The 200 mile race at El Capitan can only be run on sports tires. How exactly do we plan on running the race on racing tires? Is there any other enduros you could put in instead of this one. I'd go look, but I'm going to bed shortly.

Also, I plan on asking some of my friends from school if they would like to join the series, but I'm not sure if they will, and I don't know how good any of them actually are. :boggled:

The less skilled the better as far as I'm concerned. :dopey:

I consider myself to be fairly average, and as this is my first OLR series, I've never stacked myself up against other players. (Except for marvelling at some of the lap times set around the 'ring... ) Anyway, all my mates are crap, so I get no measuring stick there, so the less quality people that enter, the higher chance I have of winning something. ;)

As for El Capitan, the sport tyres thing is a bit of a downer, but I think nitro_2005 picked it because El Capitan is the most similar to the famous Bathhurst, what with the long straight into a sharp corner, a step climb up the mountain and back down again... A good choice IMO, but I wonder what will happen about the tyres thing?

Thanks nitro for the invite, but I don't have much free time and I can't make sure I can run on a regular basis. I would be a burden for any team mate.
Have a nice series anyway.

hmm, glad you pointed that out. i don't suppose you guys would mind running on sports tires for just 1 race, would you?

Meh go for it, 2 hours on sports tyres wont kill me.

i would like to join too...... i would like to have #99 or #55 and i'm driving a FPV GT '04. if there is a team-mate for me it would be fine, if not it doesn't matter.

Tehehe. I was looking at your schedule and I noticed another race on sport tires. I supose we should just switch to sports for this one too?:D

well, let's just do the races by the rules. if it asks for sports tires then use 'em, but if racing tires are allowed, then use them. i suppose this is our version of that gear ratio system which the real V8s use!!!

Excellent! I like it. :)

I just borrowed my friends GT4 disc and now I'm going to go test the Holden and the Ford. Hmm... but what track to test at.:boggled:

I just noticed something concerning the weight of the FPV GT in kilograms is 1825 kg.
when I perform stage 1 weight reduction, weight goes down to 1648 kg.

In the first post it is said that both cars need to weight the same at 1700 kg.,and if I add 94 kg of ballast,I end up with 1742 kilograms.
So,for me,to make the FPV GT on which a stage one weight reduction is performed weight exactly 1700 kilograms, I must add 52 (1648+52=1700)kilograms of ballast weight, and not 94.

I have a US version of GT4,that I imported.Or is maybe my game glitched?

Id would be nice if someone else who also has US version of the game could check this for me.

I will try and post some pics of this problem, hopefully tomorrow.

Anyway,that was my $ 0,02

Umm, I think (not sure) that the canadian and american versions are the same. I did the stage 1 weight reduction and added 94KG of ballast and got the exact weight(1700 kg). I'd say go re-buy your GT and try it again.:boggled: Hope this helps ya man.

Question:Are my cars(Although I said I will use a FPV I might change my mind.)
now tuned exactly as the regulations say, power and weight wise?
Pics:(Sorry for bad quality pics,I have only a cameraphone)

FPV GT weight :
SS weight:
Power of both cars:

As you can see,I fixed the weight problem;and now I have a power problem-Is FPV GT supposed to have 684 hp,and SS to have 687?

Because Nitro 2005 said that is supposed to be other way around-FPV to have 687 hp,and Holden to have 684 hp.

Or either
a) my game is having a PMS.
b) my PS2 is having a PMS.
c) Nitro mixed up the hp numbers
d)something else.

And no,I did not do something to alter these photos. That would be really, really dumb move from me.

Yes. I believe yours is right, seeing that it is the exact same as mine. I think that nitro just mixxed up the numbers in that post. Clairifaction needed. :)

I had a serious look at this last night and came up with this:
Le Sarthe 2 had the best layout for the enduro but no 4hr race like Nurburgring.
Tokyo R246 had the most similar feel compared to Bathurst with a pair of straights and some nice technical parts with walls around that technical part just like the top of Mt.Panorama.
Suzuka 1000km because Bathurst is 1000km and track length was VERY similar.

All 3 can allow race tyres just to let you know.

Mafs!!

No one game to do the Nurburgring 4hr enduro for the Bathurst 1000 race? :D Please? :D

The_Machine and I will be joining up in the join up thread

R246 is a city course where Mt Panorama is not, and R246 has no mountain! IMO it is not a suitable replacement.

I think El Capitan is best. Mountain, straights, technical section, steep... 👍

i hope nobody will laugh about my questions and if they have already been asked i'm very sorry:

1. why don't we drive the races in free-run?

2. are only the top-10 from friday allowed to take part in the saturday/sunday races?

WOAH WOAH WOAH!!!! slow down everybody!!! let me compose myself!!! ok...

Electric........: i will have a look on my game and see what is what. if i have made any mistakes, then i will alter the first post.

Mafia_boy: i will not be changing the venue of the Bathurst 1000. if you don't like it, tough. and why did you suggest the suzuka 1000km when i'm already using suzuka in place of shanghai.

viperpilot: 1. the reason why we don't do the races in free run is because i want people to send in TOTAL times, not lap times. this isn't the WRS, you know!

2. i never said that only the top 10 from the shootout were the only ones racing. in real v8 supercars, do you only see 10 cars on the grid? no, you see a full grid of about 34. the shoot out is to see who is fastest in practice and it is also a chance for the top ten guys to earn 3 bonus points for pole position.

right, i think i've sorted out everything. now, i've got some more entries to add.

thanks for the info nitro! i have one more question:

do you post the whole new race-plan before the first race? because you said that you are going to use suzuka instead of shanghai....
