So, best to always make a new stragety for each race, or in our case , have two sets, one called M1 (stragety1, 2 3) and M3 ( stragety 1,2,3), BUT only make it when you have that car selected
You must save your new strategy when you are in actual car by changing default strategy or another strategy which was made by changing default strategy of this car.
You can save new strategy not being in actual car too, but in this case you need manually adjust tyres pressure (and get right name for strategy :) ).

Ah yes, after they are setup, you can pre select the stragety BEFORE the start of the race, assuming you know the weather, ie rain will be coming, pre select wet stragety, then when you pit they will use that pre selected stragety
(I think that’s how I understand it)

fuel consumption, I don’t think we’ve needed fuel for the normal length races, ie under 30 mins

Yep, I crashed again yesterday with the M1 trying to "find a strategy" because I totally forgot, going into the race, that we were going to have a mandatory pit stop. When someone asked (half? not sure) I was already past the time to get that sorted before the race.

My races yesterday were plagued with mistakes, big and small. As @Pantheons says about himself, I really need practise and I still don't feel "at home" with these cars, not to mention the tracks (I rarely, if ever, used WG before, and I certainly never used Dubai so I guess next races won't be easy for me too).

Also, my M1 got slower and slower after the pitstop. Maybe it was that strange issue with tyre pressures Napalm mentions, but I also noticed that I had a "2" in mechanical damage by the end of the race. Not sure what happened to others but I could barely keep myself lapping within 1.5 seconds of my own previous best lap.

Still, I had fun, and also had a nice back and forth battle (M1 race) with @Zolon32 , we spent many laps in close proximity.

It was also nice to get the FL with the M3s, a bit unexpected but yeah, No wins for me in the BMW but I'll take that purple medal (and point) ;)

Big congrats to @Napalm_LT and @Saltyjoe90 , I think you guys are on another level! 👍

That's what I've been doing, definitely recommend doing the same to save tinkering during the race. Paul has been hinting at the weather beforehand and on the lobby screen you can actually see the weather cycles in the race info, so it's generally possible to know whether you will need a set of soft tyres or wets before the race starts. The default set up seems to be putting enough fuel in for the 35 minutes races, no refueling required so far. I've set up pit strategies for no refueling, which saves time in the pits and keeps weight down.

The time of year, very early spring, and the changing time of day into early evening would have lowered the track temperature as the M1 race progressed. The M3 race had heavy cloud to begin with which can sometimes lower the temperature by 20°C. It got warmer as that race progressed. Of course you know about rain (although that varies) but pay attention to the date/time and sky. ;)

I believe @Napalm_LT is correct in his findings, you do need to make sure the tyre pressures are correct in your pit strategy.
Note: even if you don't change tyres the crew will still adjust the pressures to what's set in the strategy - so you could come out with the same tyres but worse handling!

So for the M1 it's 1.51 bar at the front. 1.41 bar at the rear. Although I'm not sure the 0.01 makes much difference.

Depending on what date and weather the dice pick Dubai might be a bit warm, it often is. You might need to think about a hard slick for the M1. Maybe even a change in the M3!

I had a bit of an off day on Monday, sorry teammate @Zolon32. It was a case of "not feeling it".
I kept our esteemed race photographer company in the M3 race and drove around a lot by myself in the M1 (getting lapped!)

Just about sums my races on Monday up. :boggled:

I forgot to add above. The next series probably won't have pitstops and feature shorter races again. But could have a couple of previously requested things, road cars which incorporates a sort of multi class racing. See I do take notes. And also something I've been trying to incorporate for some time, handicapping. Still in development. Everything might change yet! :)

And this one sums up mine

Of course it's an awesome picture (thanks for selecting it John) but this particular "moment" didn't end all that well

Excited with multi class, that means two winners for every race, can't be bad for the morale! :D

Also, very curious and interested in the handicapping aspect. Not sure how you can make it work and verify compliance by all but since mutual trust is very high in this group (even when **** happens) I guess whatever you're cooking will work! 👍

EDIT - Hadn't noticed this one. Well that clears it up, THAT is how that awesome moment above ended. Look for the dumb kid facing the wall because he didn't do his homework! :banghead:

So I've had chance to review both races now on the replays. I'm really chuffed with my run of good results in the M1, but it's frustrating that the pit stops / tyre pressures / rogue issues such as Mario's mystery damage bug are skewing the results.

Napalm was way ahead after his pit stop, so without the tyre pressure issues, I doubt I would have caught him. After catching up and putting on some pressure, I took P1 when Napalm and John had a misunderstanding on the penultimate turn. I feel like I was getting close to a move anyway, and hope that I could have taken the place through a proper overtaking maneuver, but napalm is good at defending so who knows!

Either way, I prefer finishing further down the grid based purely on merit, rather than further up the grid based on PC2 gremlins screwing with people's cars! Hopefully everyone gets on without issue in Dubai.

Your ideas for the new series sound good Paul. I do enjoy these longer races with pit stops as well, so I hope the issues don't put everyone off.

Edit: I overcooked that inside kerb as well a few times Mario, as rich knows all too well cause I was holding him up as a result .

Er, no. Don't get too excited. I did put sort of multi class. :) It actually involves the handicapping. You'll see - that is if it comes about.

I still have plans for your version of multi class though. It may yet even bubble to the top of my ideas list. ;)

PC2 can be too realistic at times. Sometimes all you want is a cracking good race without any complications. PC3 anyone? :D

I hope you didn't review mine! :dopey:

I've been thinking!

For Dubai and probably for the rest of the championship I'm going to set the tyre wear to normal instead of accelerated. It'll especially help at hot Dubai but will also aid those who's pit crews don't change their tyres, hopefully they may still last the race without you being too disadvantaged. There may still be a chance of wet weather so they could still need a change at times but with a dry race it should help everyone.

And the race on Monday will be set to the 6th of November, luckily a relativity cool autumn day. The weather is unknown yet. Do you get snow in Dubai? :P

The little twisty bit takes some mastering!
I just drive straight over that bit. Some bloke keeps threatening me with a penalty if I don't slow down, but by the time I've got through the next corner he's forgotten all about it. Muppet. So everything's fine 👍

normal instead of accelerated
I wondered why I was destroying tyres like a Pelican with a remote. The new arrangement will make the M1 race quite interesting regarding when and where. (Okay, not where, but when at least :).)

I'll be keeping an eye on you. Mind you since you're a teammate that might be from behind closed eyelids.

The new arrangement will make the M1 race quite interesting regarding when and where.
Or even if. It still leaves some tactics open. Especially in cases like below.

Monday's Dubai race is interesting weather wise. The dice said it was even more interesting but I overruled them a little and smoothed it over to aid racing.

So the forecast is...
The day will start out bright but will begin to cloud over late in the morning with the high probability of a period of extended rain early in the afternoon. This will ease toward late afternoon with the possible chance off further showers later into the evening.

Ir even if? Wont there be a mandatory pitstop with the M1 this time?

Paul I am online and went to check what was the V12 LMR livery you assigned to me and John. It's the red car. Nothing against red cars in general but they create a problem to anyone, like me, that drives with bonnet view and that is rendering invisible the proximity indicators when they turn red (and that's when they are most needed).

So I noticed that the #45 and #46 cars have not been assigned and, if John doesn't mind, I'd rather change our team to that livery, if this is ok with you.

Yes there will still be a pitstop required but whether you change your tyres is up to you. Previously it was a case of probably having to change them but now it's a time vs grip decision. ;)

if this is ok with you.
That's fine by me. I'll update the info post. 👍

One cannot contradict the laws of probability, the dice hath spoken!
True, but they actually said there'd be snow. Now elsewhere in autumn maybe, but in Dubai maybe not. :)
