Conversions. Can be good, can be bad. Some of the nice conversions I've seen were Nissan 240SXes (or Silvia S14 in Japan) to the lovely Silvia S15. Then I've heard of ugly cars made uglier by converting them into trucks. And for the record, only Australia has made car-looking trucks look better than anything. People, let's talk about the best and worst conversions ever devised. Making a pickup into a small dump truck, good idea. A truck to have a convertible top and a sporty wing to match, that's bad.

Let's talk conversions, folks!

Because that's how they should have come from the factory all around the world, not just in Asia and parts of Europe.

I've seen a riced out Celica converted to look like an Integra at the rear, not to mention the hideous front end it has. Top it off with a brown/green two tone paint job, and you just pray to god for an RPG to descend upon this automotive horror.

I saw a Miata with reproduction Mustang bodywork fitted over it.

It was creative, and looked cool!

Hiya! :D :O

I have seen this interesting Honda Civic before, not the hatchback ones btw! :O:O It look like an attempt to turn the body into a Nissan Skyline R34...:O It's very interesting though, but the general people who like cars tend to bash a bit on the person who drives it.. :odd: But its mean since they would talk about "Hey! I bet you really wanted a Skyline!!! But that wannabe skyline conversion thing of your is poor people's skyline! Coulndt afford one huh? So you just gotta make your poor covic look like one!" Very mean ppl...

Anyways... It fools me from a far far distance but when it comes close...It's like..uhh... :odd: okay.....:O:O But plz dont take it like the conversion or body kit is like the EXACT skyline mold and folds, it just look very similar is all, but made to fit on the Civic.! :O It got those intimidating Skyline back lamps, Skyline looking wide body kit and a Skyline looking fron bumper! :O:O:O

Agreed. The JDM front was 100x better than what we got in the US. I'll never understand why we got the style that we did.

I also don't mind Silvia (s13 or s15. The s14 front only looks good on s14's)front-end conversions...as long as it's going on a 240sx. There's nothing worse than putting a Silvia front on a Honda or Mitsubishi (or other). It's just tacky.

I'm thinking about taking my boring '86 Nova, (Chevrolet, not Vauxhall) and making it like a 1970.

Looks like a majority of good conversions. And I'm afraid to ask this, but... what about some BAD ones? Maybe even discuss what seperates a good conversion from a bad one. You're the teachers, the others are the students. School us cats!

Among the worst I've seen were a Civic with an RSX Front End and a CRX with an RSX Front End. Both looked ridiculously horrible.
As long as it's tasteful, a conversion isn't that bad, and the Silvia conversions on the 240SX look pretty good.

Anyone from the UK might know of this...

the magazine Max Power once featured a car called the Skytegra. Basicly it was an Integra mated with a Skyline R34 front end and rear clusters, with a little bit of HondaNSX mixed in. I cant remember it very well but i'll try and dig up the magazine it was in to get pics.

Overall the end result looked very professional and a clean job.

The worse conversion ever has to be the 1st gen Blazer to the Civic/Lexus/Integera. I think I almost cried when I saw that.

Coolest convesion is when people throw a Trailblazer front fasica on S-Trucks. I really like the way it looks, I dislike the rims on this one but it looks cool.

This is also a pretty sweet blazer conversion. Its like a 40 pickup front end on it.

Would you believe a Nissan Sentra, 4 DOOR, with a complete 350Z front end grafted ot it? its two states away, and in a magazine. let me scan it and you'll have it tomorrow.
Amongst the best conversions I can think about are the relocation of the rear axle in order to gain traction of the drag cars in the 60s, and the removal of fenders in 20s-30s cars, to make them highboys.

Cano

and the civic blazer is hillarious.

The Mercedes V-class 'people carrier' - little more than a van with extra seats and windows - and a Merc price-tag.

Something else I found which doesn't look half bad...

1992-1995 Civic front end on a Del Sol.

I saw a 180 sx front end with the back of a silvia, it said 240 sx. maybe it isn't a conversion and I'm just a dumb@ss.

Recent issue of Option has a 180SX with a USDM Integra front end conversion. Absolutely hideous.

That does look pretty good man. God i was going to post the civic/blazer conversion but blazin beat me to it. I just notice it has upside-down rx330 taillights. . how about this.

god knows what this is. its from hondatech though so....

ill get more when i get some time.

Wow! That RX-8/RX-7 conversion is pretty sweet. I actually like that look to the car. It's pretty sweet. It will need like, four different auxillary lights to make it a night racer. Just take some lessons from the RX-7 LM in GT3. Or if you prefer tuner looks, go for the light setup with "Past Midnight Cinderella (or whoever she is)" RX-8.

I think Houston has a hot RX-7 tuner, so I hope if we can have some hometown Mazda love. Hey, RE Amemiya! Tune RX-7s like this one on this page. Nice conversion.

As far as the ones 360Rider shown, I have respect for tuner mods. But those are as deplorable as Ricky Williams retiring himself from the Miami Dolphins and the NFL.
