I made this poll to see what you guys think is the best/most skilled driver out there still racing at the moment. Obviously there are drivers from the past that would probably get a vote like Senna, Gilles Villeneuve, Fangio, Jackie Stewart, so on. I am only looking for your guys' opinion on drivers currently racing in a major motorsport.

So, tells us what you think. I voted for Kimi Raikkonen as he is my favorite driver at the moment and in my opinion he is the most consistent from the last couple years of F1 that I've watched him. He puts out fastest lap times many times and is capable of getting pole position. His racing line is also 99% perfect most of the time from what I've seen. In fact I've rarely if ever seen him make a mistake, though there has been once or twice like Hungary GP 2006 where he ran into Liuzzi or whoever it was.

I have included Michael Schumacher even though he's no longer racing in any motorsport. He will probably get the most votes I bet.

i was gonna vote for loeb... but it wouldnt be fair since he is freshest in my mind now while others arent. what kind of experience do the other drivers have in different types of motorsport.

schumacher is amazing.

It is kinda hard to pick just one, as there are many talented drivers out there today. Given the variances between the different sports, it is hard to compare an F1 driver to that of an ALMS, NASCAR to WRC, etc. IMO, the nod should go to a driver like Robby Gordon or Boris Said, both of whom race in various series' throughout the year and generally have a decent amount of success wherever they go.

...I guess I'm pulling for Robby Gordon here. Not only does he race in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup, but also does work in the Bush Series, as well as some open-wheel racing in the IRL, desert-racing in events like the Baja 1000, as well as the Paris-Dakar Rally going on right now.

Schumacher is great as it Borris Said, but Tom K. gets my vote. He's won the most Le Mans races of nearly any driver and that shows some skill there.

Plus he came in second in the DTM 2006 season as well, in an inferior car at that. My Vote went Mr. Kristensen as well.

Yes it is pretty hard to compare the different motorsports. There's some great ones out there though. Examples of how much skill varies between all these drivers:

Loeb
- superb consistency
- excellent over tarmac and gravel, gronholm is better on snow I think

Kristensen
- good in prototypes and excellent in touring car as well, that shows skills

Rossi
- superb skill in MotoGP, able to pressure people in front of him and play the overtaking game
- is pretty good in a rally car as well, who'd of thought it

Raikkonen
- able to take perfect racing line lap after lap

Schumacher
- good in rain, good in dry, able to handle pressure in hard situations

Alonso
- crazy turn-in manuever, turn in late, flick steering wheel, you guys know what I'm talking about, and yet he's quick as hell
(reminds me of other crazy F1 drivers like Villeneuve, Ronnie Peterson, and others who had unique driving styles that still proved insanely fast)

Robby Gordon also raced sports cars. He's quite the resume. I voted for Michael though.

Regards,
