Somewhat off-topic and related at the same time... how do you go about obtaining such great looking screen captures? Is it the capture card? the output of the PS2?

I run my PS2 thru my ATI TV wonder and do screen caps of of it, but they never look like this... much more blocky.

I use a digital camera because my video capture card f'n sucks

Not quite as pretty as the others...

Capture cards just don't have the resolution and fidelity.. they have to mess with the video input quite a bit in order to play it back properly. If I'm not mistaken, most of the industry news companies (managizes, etc) have specialized hardware/software that allows them to hook the PS2 directly to a computer to take captures, beyond what a simple TV-input card can do.

They've got to have something like that, especially to get the hi-res Photo Mode images.

But I do agree this thread is pointless.. we've all seen these caps before, there's no reason to post a new thread about them.
Yeah my friend explained it to me a couple of days ago. They take it out of the back buffer where the picture gets rendered. They can set the picture to any resolution and and AA to hell. He says MS does it all the time.

good god that is beautiful, had to print it out .. too bad printers here at school are black & white only :grumpy:

if you shrunk the media down a bit to make way for a battery, and put an LCD and some buttons on it...... my god.... it would almost be portable!
