First off, I don't want any of that spammy crap with 1 sentence replies.
If you're going to reply, give some real opinions, not just spam... :irked:

Now...

What are the best simulation games?

Of course, GT3 takes top honors in the car racing genre, but even that can be discussed in this thread. ;)

But to give a wider variety of games to discuss...

First is the simulation game called Moto GP 3.
This game is great motorcycle racing sim. Frankly, once I turn the simulation mode on, I can barely keep the bike upright or on the track, none the less, win the races.

Next would be Ace Combat 4.
This is hands down my favorite flight sim game. With so much variety in terms of missions and planes to use, there is nothing more to say than "perfection".
(btw, this one is up for debate also since there is a hint of arcade play in the title.)

Another choice in sim games would be Socom: US Navy Seals.
This game serves as an excellent combat sim.
With 1 shot & 3 round burst kills, good enemy AI and an awesome arsenal of real world weapons, this game easily ranks on my list of great simulation games.
(sure, combat sim is a nice way of saying action shooter, but this game goes beyond that... this game actually attempts to simulate squad based combat.)

As for fighting simulations... I can't really think of many if any...
Does anyone know a good fighting game designed around simulation rather than arcade action?
Maybe virtua fighter 4 evo, or tekken 4?
No energy blast ablities and somewhat grounded combat help those titles to achieve some realism, but even then the boundries of reality are being pushed.

Or what about some mech combat sims. Games like armored core might be able to fill that role. (although nothing will come close to the xbox/ capcom title "steel battalion".)

Well then...
What do you all think?
Can you follow the example created by this post?
Giving titles, reasons, and discussion of previous post can go a long way towards creating a quality thread... let's see if we can do it
. :mischievous:

SOCOM 1 and 2 aren't really that simmy, it's was pretty easy to run and gun in that game. But a fun game anyways. Now Rainbow Six on the other hand, now that's a combat sim. Actually not so much for the console versions, but the PC versions are top notch.

Then there's the Japanese train games and my favourite, Tokyobus. Tokyobus is so badass.

Or what about the Sims for PS2? I mean it does a pretty good job of simulating real life... You gotta feed yourself, keep clean, make friends, get a job... If you ask me its a pretty good real life simulation game

btw.....airforce delta strike is a lot more realistic than AC4.

turn speed depends on speed....too fast and you dont go anywhere.

.....but then again, when you go into space i guess the realism is shot to hell. lol.

I just stopped playing the new(still not officially released) demo of the PC game GTR.After running a few laps on Spa with the Lister Storm i can safely say that this is going to be the best GT racing simulator on PC.
First of all the graphics are pretty good, nothing fancy. The car sounds are the best sounds i have ever heard in a racing game, very lifelike.
The physics are excellent, the cars handling is very real.Another cool thing is that when you are driving from the drivers perspective you can actually kind of feel the g-force.As you accelerate the camere kind of veers backwards or when you are braking or taking turns the camera moves as if it were the drivers head.Very life like aswell.
This one get's my vote for the best racing sim on the PC.And if you plan on playng this do so with a wheel, only then you will get the real GT feel.

EDIT
Damn,i just noticed that this is a Playstation 2 board,ah well maybe the game will be released on PS 2 aswell.

Now, naturally you cant really simulate something that isn't real, but, I love the Armored Core3 and AC: Silent Line, AC 2 was good too. I think that game does a good job of what FAR future earth might really be like. After all, don't Corporations already get what ever they want our of our government? And the custimization is really what does it for me. And they do such a good job of keeping you from just holding down the trigger and running through anything. You have to watch your cores Temp, energy use and ammo? now i haven't played steel battalion yet because i was in Iraq for it's release (i think, when did it come out again?)

But the Armored Core series gets my vote for Future Combat Sim

The best mech has to go to steel battalion. just the controller justifies the argument. I could only afford to rent it (had to put a big ass deposit down too) and it was out of this world. the only camera perspective you get is inside the cockpit, the in game soundtrack comes from a tinny sounding radio taped in there, and theres even a windshield wiper button (!). The controls are stiff and the learning curve is steep as hell, but it simulates what i think the battlefield of the future would be like (if of course battle mechs were used for combat.)

The best simulation of motorsports in my opinion would be the nascar racing series put out by papyrus, but that GTR game looks to knock it off its perch.

Ahh - I was wondering if the Papyrus Nascar games were any good. I was thinking of buying a cheap copy, obstensibly to
hijack the circuits for Grand Prix Legends, but was reluctant to if the actual game wasn't much chop.

GTR does indeed look very good. I note there's no Le Mans in the track listing, and the 'jewel in the crown' is the Spa 24 hours. Does anyone know if Infogrames still holds the Le Mans license, and if they're doing any updates soon?

Infogrames still have that licence, they now also have the Amercian Le Mans series licence.
Still no word on a new game though.

Well, your opinion doesn't matter in this since you obviously wouln't support it...

This makes me wonder, did you read the entire first post?

First off, I don't want any of that spammy crap with 1 sentence replies.

So um, yeah, do you think that your post was a quality post that supplied reasons for what you said?

Whatever.
I am so sick of total crap spam. :yuck:

But hey, atleast now I can still say that moto gp 3 is the best since there is no base for saying otherwise... I mean, you didn't say a thing besides, moto gp2 was better (IMO).

So yeah, if you're gonna post again, please, please, please, try not to be a crap poster with no quality, spam replies.

I really do hate spam and 1 sentence post.

It's sad because this thread needs all the activity it can get... but it doesn't need this kind of crap, or 1 sentence spam for that matter.

btw, I think your sig is longer than what is allowed.
