Sorry about all those sorries :D

Obviously a thread like this is always going to be rediculous to argue, because we're talking about opinions, but it's fun to disagree.

I was in the Navy and I heard plenty of jets, and I didn't like a thing about them. Simply making loud noise does not equal "cool" in my book. It's got to have a more to it than that.

Like....these two examples

That burnout was pretty damn cool, even if the guy doing it probably had to get a new set of rear tires after that!

And I generally do agree with you, loud generally does not equal cool, but the F-14 is just so loud that it is cool imo.

lol who voted inline 4
I've heard some pretty good sounding tuned Evos, so the inline 4 can be a decent sounding engine.

I have a video of a red FD w/4rotor at some drag strip is that the one you saw? I think this video was posted on GTP before.

Thats the exact same one. His number plate is FOURRE and the video clip I'm referring to I took myself at that very same track.

Lemme try and find somewhere to host it..

there arnt many inline 5's about, the only one i know is in the fiat coupe and that sounds great,

Audi Quattro! - one of the best sounds ever

Alfa do an inline 5 diesel, sounds ok ...for a diesel

That 4 rotor RX7 sounds pretty sick! That's cool, never heard anything like that before.

But, still gotta say V8, Chevy V8's. Although I've heard some nice inline 6's, infact i'd say I6 engines are 2nd. 4cyl??? no way  most that I hear hear sound like angry weed-eaters! stupid civics with Coffee Can exhuast :yuck:

Coffee Can exhuast :yuck:
you mean milo tin

i love V8's and that BRM V16, Also GTR RB26DETT engines sounds great.

After owning a supra TT, 5 liter mustang, 5 liter tbird, 92 GSR tegra, and now a 05 WRX wagon....Id have to lean towards the WRX wagon. The boxer 4 sounds so mean with just a simple turboback exhaust and downpipe on any aftermarket exhaust....

Yeah. i know I start quaking in my boots when one revs beside me at a light.

In all seriousness though, they sound better than other 4cyls. I like them because of the lower tone and more pronounced pulses.

If you have ever been at the lights with a GT40 ( the original ) or a kit car properly put together..with correct exhaust, omg is all I can say

Not too many original GT40's in my neighborhood I'm afraid.

Mine!!!! :) 4.6L sohc ford v8 281c.i.
Why? Because with my exhaust setup it screams!
BBk long tube headers, bbk off road x-pipe, Steeda stainless cat-back exhaust...
(if I had a host I would post up my dyno vid :) )
There are tons of cars that sound better, but Gotta love the sound of a mustang!

Seriously though It's really hard to pick my absolute favorite 1... there are alot of cars that sound simply awesome in person...

as much as i'd love to say a ferrari V8, sadly i've never heard one in person. what i do know is that a cadillac northstar V8 hooked up to a corsa performance exaust is among the best sounding engines i've ever heard. my grandma (i know, i know hahaha) has a 2000 eldorado and i've always loved how that car sounds and drives (apart from the numb handling, the thing really moves and the tranny is superb. tire chirping 1-2 upshifts!) but my friend has a 2002 seville STS with the corsa system on it and it sounds freakin mean!

goto http://www.corsaperf.com/flashcadillac.htm and put your mouse over the different numbers to hear it to get an idea, but you gotta hear it in person to appreciate it

I know your exhaust sounds mean; I've got to hear it.

You silly people and your so called "displacement" ;)

I should record my engine at some point.. but I am lazy... and its cold :P

4 Cylinder whine of DOOM...

Though, something about those deep deep notes that big engines produce... is just impressive to hear...

YES DO IT PLEASE. Damn that thing is loud as hell even waaay down the track.

The bark is worse than the bite though...lol
260rwhp, that sounds like 500....

I always enjoyed the old Flowmaster's on the 5.0's, but the SLP exhaust on the newer 4.6's like ours sounds damn good! I've got a UPR O/R X and Magnaflow catback, and it's ok, but it took a lot of getting used to. Different kind of sound (exotic v.s muscular).

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

The SLP LoudMouth exhuast indeed sound VERY good on a 4.6 Mustang! I have heard it before and its scarry! :O

And by the way LethalChem, do you happen to be the owner of that blue LT1 Camaro Z28 with lowering springs and with chromed Z06 rims? I saw it on www.Z28.com that my friend said that I should make my car look like "Lethalchem" :O

 Hehe..small internet. Yeah, that's me. I picked up the LT1 for autocrossing/occasional drag racing, and plan on retiring my Cobra to daily driving status only. The Cobra is awesome on the street, and has been great covering all three uses (Daily driver, Drag racing, Autocrossing/road racing), but I had the itch to start even more mods so I thought it better to leave me something dependable to get to work with, so I picked up a second toy to tinker on. It's been fun so far. 👍

So I take it you're running a Slomaro too then?:D

Inline 12 - Ferrari Testarossa
Boxer 12 - Ferrari 512 (I think that is the correct model name).

And Viper - ;)

512M. Also, what year of testarossa had an inline 12? or did all of them?

Favorite sounding engine: FD3S. HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THE ROTARY?! or the 787B?! That thing just screams. Don't forget the uncanny ability to redline a rotor for like half an hour before it blows.

Surprisingly enough, the exact same motor was used by buick in its most famous showcar in 1951, the Le Sabre. the entire engine worked and wieghed only 550 pounds. for 1951!

 the BRM V 16 is yummylicious, But I've heard a P-51 at an airshow, and it has to be the best. Bar None.

*little known fact* - the ford mustang was named after the fighter plane, but people associated mustang with a horse instead. Imagine "fighter cars" instead of "pony cars"

Didn't the mustang fighter plane fight in Korea or WW2 or something?

Yup, the P-51 is a WWII war bird.

It's 7mb and I can't seem to find anywhere to have it hosted :grumpy: all the free hosts have 2mb limits. *explores other options*

Tried yousendit: http://d18.yousendit.com/C/732118AA157C528EDCEBB46E2057089A/fourre.wmv
I do have more footage of a few more runs he did, but they're still in the raw file, about 700megs worth :indiff:

Doesn't work yousendit does not allow direct linking. Need the page where it links to that file. Does the owner of that rx7 have a website?

Can we limit this down to best sounding engine- with stock exhaust? As soon as you add in the "...with GReddy exhaust" etc. you start to almost void the subject, becuase you have altered the way it sounds. The best sounding anything would probably be the engine without an exhaust period. well of course it would have an exhaust to some degree, but taking the pipe off just after the front wheels (providing it's FF/FR/ F/AWD). I just love hearing an engine scream. Particularily why i chose the rotary. Also, it has a very distinct sound. More of a buzz or "whirrr" sound.

No its not slow! It will be a Slomaro once I get my hands on a TT Supra as a gift! :O But I really love how your Camaro looks with those Z06 rims! I want those on my Z28 too.

BACK TO TOPIC!

I really also think that the sound of a Ford GT is good too! VERY MENACING and INTIMIDATING by the way it sounds! I got a video of Top Gear reviewing the Ford GT.
