I'm telling you, it has a way of infecting anyone around it. It can very dangerous, esspecially people who don't have much money to spend.
On Saturday my best friend bought his first motorcycle. Its a 2001 Honda 929rr. Within the small group of friends I call close, 7 of us now have motorcycles. There really is only 2 more boys to go. Now the bug is even crossing gender lines, and my girlfriend wants to buy my R6 when I get a R1 next year.

I will post pictures later tonight. Its a sweet bike, and a hell of a deal. I was jealous in fact. I found it for him, since he has been in Iraq for the last year, its a well deserved gift to himself.

If you don't want to spend the money, I suggest you stay away or at least keep your distance. :sly:

Motorcycling has been very cheap for me, the trick to making it affordable is to not go and buy a really expensive sport bike :)

I just know how expensive dirtbiking is for me, I can see where real bikes would get pricey.

How's the R6 running for ya?

Its funny you should ask about the R6 today, out of all days. It seems I have a short somewhere in my wiring. Therefore when I went start it today, not only fif it spark, but the battery died. So tonight, I get to go to Wal-Mart, by a battery charger, tear my bike down, find the short, fix it, and then put it all back together again. Should be fun. I will probably change the oil in it while I am messing around.

I think it has something to do with the storm I got stuck in the other day. I was going towards Orlando, when it decided to open up, and boy did it ever. I thought it was hailing at one point. The bike was steady the whole time, and ran great, but pushing it through those massive puddles could have caused something to come loose just enough. :( I'll get it fixed though.

I'll probably take some pics, and post them in my R6 thread. I'll post the 929 pics tonight as well. Something came up last night that didn't allow me to be on my computer.

I'm partial to this.

I'd love a bike myself, but, while I like sportbikes, I want a classic british-style or WWII German, etc, bike, the kind you can ride around the country on, but not seem like a leather clad badass biker wannabe.

In that case check out... Confederate Motorcycles 👍

Those things are way too complex and over-designed. I want something super-simple, no electronics, barebones, like a Triumph, or one of the less sporty older Ducatis, or, as I said, an old military bike. In terms of a modern bike, if anyone remembers the bike OCC built for Jay Leno, that's the kinda bike I'd love to have.

I'm gonna go ahead and post a picture of my Honda :D

Just finished up with finals, haven't got a job for the summer yet and the weather is great, so I've been riding a lot over the past few days :D

Not a bad bike for $300 :)

My dad surprised me by getting a new bike...brings the total to 4! and the awesome thing is that this is the one I get to ride all the time, he likes to stick with the goldwing (hes old  ) Here it is!!

Very Nice! That thing just looks nice.

I never posted pictures of the 929rr... my friend riped it apart, and decided to give it a make over. I will post pictures of his when he finishes.

I am considering now giving mine a bit of a make over. 👍

My dad has a Suzuki GSX-R 1000. That thing just hauls some serious a**. When he went to go get the plates from the dealer for he let me ride on the back and at one point we got up to 100 mph in 3rd gear. Offcourse you can probably guess my mom is so thrilled ( sarcasm ) that I want to buy a bike after I get my car.

I sold the 2001 Erion Racing Edition 929rr my Dad gave me when I was 17, and bought a 2005 GSXR-750 a while back. First one in SC.;) I'll post some old pics of it with my Cobra, and buddies Integra w/JDM front end sometime soon.

Congrats on finally getting that R6 of your's Magic! I know you wanted that thing forever...

I'm guessing DC2, since the DC5 has the same front end in USDM or JDM forms. The JDM DC2 was the only one that was different.

And, back to the bikes. Here's a pic of my Duck. Its a Monster S4R. At 996cc, its the perfect liter bike, in my opinion. Very fast, but very light and nimble. Nicole rides it more than I do, but we both get lots of use. Great bike, don't see myself ever getting anything else. Monsters rule.

Another gorgeous Ducati

I have a cousin who has a 748R with plenty of carbon fibre on it - sounds so good.

Thanks Josh! I know seems like I went through like 4 avatars that showed a count down on when I was going to buy it. The I went down to the regular YZF... ah, memories.

Thats it! This weekend I have to get some pictures up of my crews bikes. Its a must! Two ducs in this thread already, and I plan on adding a third. 👍

I'm glad to see there are some ducati fans in this thread...I was getting a little bit of critisim from some of the other members...erm, PR......not to mention a few others...oh well.

I thought I'd share the fact I've just got rid of the Gixxer six. And replaced it with this...

One of the last 600s and I got it cheap as I work at the factory. I've had a few bits colour coded already, and had the race pipe and a unique fuel map put in, on the rig it was pushing out 97.7. It should push past the ton after it's been run in.

I'm also spraying it up in a 1978 TT winning trident racebike paint scheme. I've never sprayed before so if it's not a disaster, I'll post pics...

Kurtis.

By this time next year I plan on having a bike. I want an R6 or an R1. Whichever one I can find the best deal on. I wish I had the kind of money to afford a Ducati 999R. I'd love one of those babies.

Just out of curiousity, how much are you paying in insurance? Here in Ontario, I can expect the insurance on sport bikes to be about 50% of the fair market value (or purchase price if new) of the bike, which is a major deterrent.

Example: 2005 Yahama R1 - cost $15,000, insurance ~$7500 - $8000 per year.
2005 Suzuki SV650S - cost $8,800, insurance ~$4,000 per year

Is it any better for you guys and gals?

I am insured though State Farm, and only pay 80.00 bucks a month. Full coverage. Of course I have a multiple policy with them, but compare to some other insurance companies, I think its a good deal.
