Just got through doing the final mod to my Clubsport V2s, well not last technically as I've got a cosmetic goodie I haven't revealed yet. But from a functionality standpoint I have.

photo3-2.jpg

This spring is one of several that I bought to try and make my CSP V2 brake at least somewhat as awesome as my Perfect Pedal brake on my G27s. For the most part I would say Mission Accomplished.

There is another spring which I believe would be better but I didn't have the proper equipment to compress it and couldn't fit it on with my arm strength. But this spring slides right on and offers almost perfect *IMO at least* brake pedal response. It feels like a race car now and not someone commuter runabout.

Strong initial feel, and strong travel, like it should be. Now based on pressure I can gauge braking. The stock CSP V2 brake is just to soft.

Warning, this brake is now just for men, girly boys need not apply. LOL

Thanks man, I'm dying to move already because hopefully the next mod will blow you away. But it will only happen if I move to this new house. The bank is holding things up on the sellers end. :(

But I've got a couple other things to show, but again the move is delaying. Just an FYI after doing this mod, there is no way you can use this in bare feet. Its got almost double the strength of the Perfect Pedal. Hard then very progressive at the end, I mean HARD. You can tell exactly where you are in the pedal travel just by pressure.

Awesome! This next mod your referring to, is this something new your building? Also I have the original Clubsport pedals do you think it's possible to duplicate the brake setup of the V2 with a RC absorb shock...

out of curiousity what is the spring rate in lbs.
with the upper shock eyelet being mounted on the side of the pedal and not in the center has a drawback of halving a limit as to how much spring pressure can be used before shearing at the upper mount point

I'm guessing its about 100lb or around that. If I sheer the upper mount point I'll let you know. So far I've been pounding on the thing trying to make it break. Don't attempt till after I've spent some time with it and report back. Its definitely aggressive, but I don't think it will sheer it. But anything is possible.

So far the feel is pretty awesome. Its strong and feels like a real brake. Not for everyone though, you will get tired after a few laps if you're a heavy breaker. lol

CT, the other mod is reliant on me getting this new house because of the space. It involves new projection screens and projectors. My current apartment just isn't large enough to accommodate. Working with a plastics company in Massachusetts to source some special screens.

Nice one Wil, hey your DSD pad is different than mine, he must've changed the design on them. btw, the bolts on mine rust so badly on those DSD pad, make sure you sprayed some sort of anti-rust on them, I chucked mine away now. :(

I painted mine ;)

But I'm replacing them with a set of Sparco race pads. My rig is transforming as we speak into a commercial for Sparco, including a very special custom Sparco seat that does very special things. hehe

Shorter than the stock toy spring, but compressed its supposed to be the same length. Since I'm an idiot and mixed up the packaging in my excitement and can't remember which spring went in which package I don't remember which this one is. But I'm going to guess at 100lb. Every spring I got was either between 90lb, which is the same as CST super brake or 240lb.

A couple of the springs, the 240lb ones I couldn't even compress LOL. Didn't know springs could get that strong in that small a size.

Anyway, I think the assembly will be OK, but not sure if there will be any repercussions in the long run with that plastic hat on the shock assembly.

If I find that this spring is too aggressive I'll move to the 90lb spring, I just need to cut a link off because its too long by a hair.

But one thing is clear, this destroys the stock spring in feel. You now actually feel like your pressing a brake. The V2s IMO needed this to be perfect for me, coming from the Perfect Pedal.

I supply oil coated, black oxide fasteners with all pedal pads. The fasteners are specifically this because they are rust proof. There's not one report but this example of an oil coated black oxide fastener rusting. I'm guessing something is on this user's shoes or feet to cause the matter.

@Mayaman - great mod!

Good job :) Glad someone recognized the inadequacy of that RC shock. What may seem stiff in your hand feels like absolutely nothing under your foot.

I've used my DSD T-style pads almost daily for close to 10 months now in my socks. Took the pads off when I did maintenance to the CSPs a couple of days ago, absolutely no rust on the bundled DSD fasteners here. :)

Mine don't have the pretty new logos though....nice touch.

Back on Topic: Nice work Mayaman.

Oh, forgot to mention I'm still using the RC shock assembly, just replaced the stock spring with this monster.

One has to wonder though how much good the actual shock portion is doing given the dramatically increased spring rate... I'd be curious to know what it feels like with you current setup but without any oil at all in the shock.

Oh, I can tell you with 100% assurance that the shock is doing nothing but holding the spring in place. The oil is doing nothing at this point since the spring is so strong. That is fine by me.

Gotcha. I hope it doesn't seem like I'm downplaying what you've done. People do that a lot I realize, but in this case it was just an observation. :) I actually have an idea that I might run by you via PM... :)

In my excitement I removed all the springs and got to modding without checking the packaging on which was which. But I know I ordered two springs that could possibly work here. One was 90lb which I don't think this is. this is probably the 110/120lb spring. At first its nice and heavy, at full load, where ABS kicks in its pretty brutal and you won't be able to hold it there indefinitely, which is kinda what you want, at least I do. It keeps me from engaging the ABS way to early like I did with the stock spring. Now it fights you.

Are these different springs from the one I have bought, Mayaman? Just wondering.

ps. I wish Derek would've send me those new pedal plates. They look so much better. They have a proper finish on them, while the old ones needed at least some sand paper. But also the molding process wasn't at its best yet in my opinion (air bubbles).

Yeah Logi, these are different. These are not from a hobby shop, they are from a manufacturer of springs, stainless steel hardware, all kinds of industrial stuff.

Ghehe, expected nothing less from you to find a way somehow. :P

Next step... getting the right oil viscosity with the spring. :)

yup. agreed, and aparently I have a wet sole that caused the bolts to rust. :indiff: my rig is nowhere near water or salt for that matter. didn't mean to trash this thread Wil, I'll leave this alone.it's in the past:tdown:

more photos Wil ? Im anxious to see the next step of the rig. 👍👍
