Have you all seen this?

Saw this post on ISR a few days ago, someone else apparently decided to circumvent the RC shock too.

Me thinks you could probably use the CSP V.1 Tuning Kit's Brake springs on a similar setup.

FYI: Just an observation, I am not venturing my opinion regarding this mod.

Please don't shoot the messenger.

I am currently STILL using CSP V.1's with Tuning Kit installed.

That mount is nice, but the spring isn't even comparable. But that mount sure is cool. If my current V2 mount snaps because of this beastly spring I'll do this. :)

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade my compression Springs on my clubsport v2 pedals and I don't know what to look for.

I suggest ditching the whole stock shock in favor of a REAL shock. IMO you dont need a SUPER strong spring when you can actually use the Oil/Piston combo to control some of the compression and not Leak all the oil everywhere. Yes stiffer spring's can be had. Ive made a few suggestions in the thread.

Also If any of you guys were RC racer's and know what a quality shock is. You would Laugh at the stock Fana shock. Piston has mm's of Blow by and the quality of the pot aluminum used is a joke. Not to mention the oring's might as well not even be there they leak so bad.

On an unrelated note - black oxide is certainly not rust-proof. It will usually help indoors, but if it is humid (i.e. summertime thunderstorm and you don't have A.C.) or gets wet, it will definitely rust.

I use a 130lb spring used in the CST F1 real brake pedal set. Trust me, it fits perfectly on the stock shock that comes with the V2s and makes them great. My next mod will be mounting the Perfect Pedal to the V2s. Stay tuned, trying to work with Pilmat on this one.

Ive seen the Spring you've used Mayaman, But Honestly you cant say the shock is actually doing any thing aside from being a axis for the spring compress/expand

The Mugen shock actually allows you to use the dampening of the oil/piston.(without leaking all over the place) while With the CST spring its essentially a just a Super Stiff spring that renders the Oil/piston Moot.

Never said it did but I'm also not using the stock fluid, so while the spring is doing most of the feeling, I'd rather have the brake reliant on the spring than the shock. Like I said, the Perfect Pedal mod is what I'm shooting for, the Perfect Pedal destroys any spring for feel.

Here is something you guys who are modifying your V2s need to consider. The shock in the V2s is configured in parallel to the load cell, not in series. Meaning the more force the shock is taking, the less that the load cell is taking. If you just have a linear spring that wouldn't be an issue since you could just adjust the sensitivity on the load cell or press harder on the brake. If you have a velocity dependent damper, it could be a huge issue. Instead of brake response being strictly load dependent, brake response will be load and velocity dependent. If you step on the brakes fast and hard you will get less braking for the same force than if you pressed the brake slow and hard since the damper will be shielding the load cell when moving fast. That doesn't sound like an ideal situation to me.

Good point but the fact remains that the stock shock is Garbage and any upgrade is better than stock.

If you think im loading my shock with a 1 hole piston and 1000000wt oil your sadly mistaken. So the velocity of the piston isn't much different from Stock. Tapered pistons are something ive though about trying too but haven't gotten around to it.

Was the attitude really necessary? I'm merely pointing out that there is a design flaw in the V2 brakes. If you put a stronger damper in, you are only accentuating the problem. Whether that makes a real world difference would need to be tested. The fact that the stock damper is crappy could actually be a good thing since it probably won't have a very big effect on the mechanics of the load cell.

No attitude Zathra. didn't mean it in that way. Just stating the obvious that it would be unwise to use really thick oil and 1 hole pistons.

Wow thanks for the info guys! I'm such a noob just about everything said went over my head lol. I'm going to check out the linked thread and see if I can upgrade my pedal. It really feels bad at stock. Thanks @Nick Moxley
