The Dodge Charger just got emasculated...

The new International 6.4L V8 Power Stroke diesel engine that's in the new 2008 F-series is just a monster and is in my opinion the best heavy duty V8 diesel engine ever. I mean it has two turbos for christ sakes! And 6 radiator/intercooler/cooler things. I mean just look at the size of that intercooler! (the big black thing up front)

I got to see the new Super Duty up close in Chicago, and I couldn't believe the size of the thing... And the price. The one I was looking at was stickered at $64,000. I have never seen a pickup priced that high.

...When it comes to diesels, it would be a hard pick for me. The Cummins is just so damn reliable, the Superduty so powerful, and the Duramax is just a good compromise of civility and power. If I had the cash money, I would not only make it rain, but I could also buy myself a $55K Silverado 2500 HD with the Duramax. That would be hot...

If only I would win the lottery...

I forgot those are the two cars you love most! I say we have a long argument wherein I mention many significant reasons why the vehicles are horrible and you say stuff like 'they're sharp' and 'you want a Buick.' You down?
Or we could argue about price and standard features differences that don't exist and you could try to change the subject by pointing out insignificant grammar mistakes or making up facts based on partial statistics.

Christ - let's do both!

I want the best for all three of the guys, and unfortuantely not everyone is doing what needs to be done to get back to where they are supposed to be. Is everyone perfect? Certainly not. Ford still doesn't have a serious V8 program that is able to compete directly with the GM and DCX units, and GM has made the mistake of keeping the 4L60E and its spin-offs for just a bit too long.

They could all do better, but when the others seem to be improving at an impressive rate, you have to wonder why DCX isn't doing the same...

I guess the words "Messy Divorce" come to mind.

I'd gladly root for VW taking over Chrysler. Or Ford. I'd also like Daimler to, you know, act like they want Chrysler to succeed and give them the product development money to make their own 6- and 4-cyl engines. and cars to match.

But there's so much more money to be made by ordering Chrysler to use abandoned Mercedes parts and then back-charging them for a hefty portion of the [already paid-for] engineering development costs!

Oh, not to mention, use Mitsubishi platforms and Hyundai engines HYUNDAI doesn't use. or rarely uses.

It makes me feel stupid to be a fan.

[/b]The new Ford 3.5L V6 is astonishingly good. I can't wait to drive the new Five Hundred (I'm not calling it the Taurus...ever...) with it. Should be a blast in AWD trim. And what's wrong with the 3.0L Duratec V6 that's in the Fusion? It's quite quick. And the Ranger has the worst engine numbers of any vehicle I've ever seen.

I think that'd engine would be a heck of a lot more fun once they finally drop it into the Ford Fusion. Well techncially you can basically get a Ford Fusion with the 3.5L right now if you wanted to.

I believe I know 2 engines that are a lot worse than any of the previous engines listed above.

The 6.2L Detoit diesel V8 that was found in the 1st year of the Hummer H1 production. It had 6.2L of diesel power but it only managed to muster up 150hp and 250lb ft of torque. That was pushing an H1 people! How much does an H1 weigh? More than the Queen Mary I believe. Or how about the 500CID cadillac engines found in the 1960's to late 70's that made only 190hp due to them being severely restricted.

I always thought that the Charger was better than the 300 for the fact that it was cheaper even though it had a better engine, now thats the case, but it has an engine from a Kia*! :grumpy:

*Used by pretty much all DCX, Hyundai, Kia, and DSM cars.

You are an idiot.

Not only has the Charger had the 2.7 from the start of its production, your assertions that it is shared with Hyundai, Kia & Mitsubishi products is also patently false.

The Hyundai/Kia 2.7 V6 to which you refer is the Hyundai Delta engine, which shares no parts whatsoever with Chrysler's 2.7 V6. They both have DOHC, they're both 2.7 L (the Chrysler engine is more precisely 2736 cc, while the Hyundai engine is 2656 cc) displacement, but they are NOT the same engine.

No Mitsubishi or joint Chrysler-Mitsubishi product has ever used this engine either. You have most likely confused this engine with Mitsubishi's 2.5 L 6G73 or 3.0 L 6G72 engines.

Easy, big fella.

Now that's more like it. Good to see you back!
