I started posting this in the F40 so bad thread, but think it could deserve a thread of its own... lets see how it goes.

Fuji main straight has what appears to be a 1/4 mile.
The start line is located on the Pit Entry lane markings, and the end is the Checkered Start line found 400 metres away :) its also the first one you hit after launch.

To start your run, enter Arcade mode, Time Trial and go to Fuji.
Start your lap and as soon as you cross the Start Line and the time kicks off, turn around and head for the staging area.

Wait till the clock hits 1:00 and launch. You can pause it as you hit the finish line to get your almost exact time.

There is a youtube vid in the F40 being bad thread.
If you want to save that as a ghost replay, you need to finish the entire lap and save Best Lap, you can then load this as a Ghost and race against it.

How do I know its 400m? its close to but I dont think it is exactly perfect.
2 Checks: drove across the start and finish line at a constant speed, recorded time and caluclated distance.
2nd check, using Googlemaps you can locate the GPS reference for both start and finish line, then calculate distance between the 2 GPS points.
Depending on the algorithm used it comes close... between 420 and 430-ish
Which allowing for error in the map, my click and the algorith is not too bad.
Start: 35.369617,138.923353
Finish: 35.372075,138.927135
Punch values i here: http://www.movable-type.co.uk/scripts/latlong.html
Then click the "See it on Map" link : )

So post up your times, replays or races..

I'm pretty sure I know what car is the quickest non/Tuned car (Excl F1 and CitroenGT) with some solid low 11 second runs... but not going to give that away just yet.

If you post your times, I will start a table, a screen grab or reply would be good if your claiming incredible times :)

I do know drag racing has been done at Fuji, so it makes sense.

Also, when some of us had less than fortunate races at Daytona, we would use the pits for drag racing. Instead of a tree, we had a third car park up track a bit, and hold his brake lights on. When the lights when out, we launched. Works well if you use a Voip program, like TeamSpeak.

Nice ! I had a look at Daytona to see if there is something that would clearly define a 1/4 strip, but so far Fuji looks like it.

OT.. your from Kamloops, do you MTB ?

I got:
Ford GT: 133mph trap speed
599: 130 trap speed
Didn't bother timing, I found that to be far to inaccurate. But from 2 simple runs I can tell you the GT romps the 599, since the 599 can't use full throttle until 3rd gear. :( (which brings GT5P's traction physics into question)

Youd be wrong
I'm confused why you're not just saying....I know the 599 doesn't beat it, so you must be using a non-production car, eh?

great idea! i usually just do 0-62 runs to see how accurate the cars are... and they are generally pretty good. 1/4 mile drag racing sounds fun, especially if your a g25 user (although it might weaken your time slightly) definitley going to try this out later, owww i wish they had a supra, so i could compare it to my cousins 12second run :(

Its the Mines Skyline.. there.. its out.. :D

Try launching the 599 in 2nd gear.

Why not driving with the tires which are the most relasitic for each car? You can see that in the "instruction" section of the main menu! For Example on the 599 n3 - s1, on the gt-r s1-s2 or on the viper gts n2-n3. I think thats more realistic when each car has the tires like in real life!

If you want i can write the standard tires of each car down!

Hi Ron... I agree with this, but I thought S2's keep it reasonably standard for all cars and if run in TT mode no one can "over tire" the car.
Rather than list every car here (thats a lot of cars).. hows this.. if anyone is willing to submit times on GTP Factory Spec rubber, I will create a category for it in the standings so we end up with a "real life" listing as well?
Where there is two listed, (S1-S2) only the higher rating will be used as we assume the rubber will be fresh and new.

As myself and others have mentioned before the tyres have been adjusted in updates (S tyres were given more grip) but the recommended tyre list was never adjusted to suit. So now there is a bigger jump between N tyres and S tyres. (Something I hope they have sorted out for GT5)

Do you think the grip of the tires depends just on the category (s1, s2 and so on..) or that it changes on what car they are mounted (I mean that every car has another grip level of the tires if you know what i mean)! I am afraid some cars will have too much/less grip if you take s2 for all! I dont know how polyphony has managed that.

A big sorry for my bad schoolish english!

I know what you mean and am not too sure, but dont want to turn this thread into a tire war :D

Lets try and keep this simple. S2's for all with the option of Pure GTP Factory Spec tires for its own Category... Im planning that we will end up with Tuned Cars on sticky rubber at some stage.. just as IRL drag racing.

I am keen to see how close the cars on Factory Spec rubber compare to published specs as times are submitted, but honestly believe the tire system is not a good enough match for real life to be 100% reliable.

Times ( All on s2 tyres using six axis )

Nissan Gtr 12.366 @ 124mph
Nissan skyline r34 13.750 @ 108mph
Mines r34 11.866 @ 131mph
Corvette zo6 (stock) 12.733 @ 127mph
Viper SRT10 (stock) 12.7xx @ 124mph
Amuse s2000 11.783 @ 137mph
Audi r8 12.6 @ 118mph

These were quick runs with about 2-3 per car, and then posting the highest time.

* The 1/4 mile is pretty accurate, because i know the GTR runs it in just over 12 seconds in real life, and im sure its possible with a perfect launch.

would be a good idea to eventually tune cars, and see what the quickest times possible are...

thanks for the idea 888tuning.

>>would be a good idea to eventually tune cars, and see what the quickest times possible are...<< Totally agree

Can someone please run the F1 car as I no longer have it and only have a Million in the bank

Its the Mines Skyline.. there.. its out.. :D

Try launching the 599 in 2nd gear.
Well the Mine's Skyline isn't a regular car, it's an aftermarket tuned car, tuned by a tuning company. So that wouldn't count.
But the Citroen GT does.:)

Nice try.. :) Mines counts as its not a concept car, you can happily go and purchase one, though granted its not a facotry spec vehicle.
The Citroen is a Concept car. You cant buy it... You can however buy one that looks like it if you have the $$$

All it says now is: Performance sedans - n1-n3, and sports cars n3-s1, with no variation between models, other than performance sedan andhigh-performance, or sports car, whatever they call it.

Anyways, guessing..
12.7@125mph Dodge Viper SRT-10
Picks up an extra mph or 2, by keeping it in third, didn't get a time on the Z06, but saw a 127mph trap speed, so the other times probably accurate there too.

A little slow, if you ask me, the slowest SRT-10 time I've seen a review of was low 12's, most get high 11's:grumpy:
(best I've seen is 11.7@123mph.
So the trap speeds to high as well, regardless of rev-limiter removing. (real car runs out of 3rd at 119mph)

Nice...

I am pretty sure that the 1/4 we are using at Fuji is slightly over by around 35-40 meters... (by a GPS calculation using Googlemaps).. and at 125mph that would equate to roughly .5 - .7 of a second. Dont be too harsh on yourself :)

Sounds like a fun idea! I have to try it, but I can't wait for drag race in GT5 for 100% time accuracy.
