AI in a F430 is unable to perform a simple overtake on another AI. If that were two similar cars at a Nurb i would get it. But it's just embarrassing to see how long it takes a ferrari to overtake a hatchback. AI has the same mentality as GT5 B-spec drivers.
It took him half a lap on a relatively tight track since he didn't want to damage his car. I don't see how that's so bad, but whatever.

On the willow springs 20 mile race , fxx lead car me just behind in my Vgt . Last lap , last corner ..... I'm not catching up think about restarting the race then suddenly the fxx pits and I overtake him easily . A.I are the dumbest of the dumb in Gt6
:dopey:

One of the dumbest things I've seen (made) the AI do was whilst showing a friend that the AI doesn't really want to win.

Slowed the entire field down to 50mph at Brands Hatch and proceeded to do two laps with them all sat right behind me, occasionally pulling up alongside then slamming their brakes on so as not to take 1st away from me. Utterly ridiculous!!!

It looked vaguely like the start of Nascar or something; all these cars dying to overtake the pace-car but knowing they'll get in trouble if they do!

He is in a Ferrari. He cant overtake a hot hatch. How is that not a fail?
It's not a fail because the section of track it was behind on is twisty. It's about usable power. I bet my little Seat Leon Cupra R could pull away from most supercars given a slow enough, technical course (a British B-road for example) purely down to the fact it can use nearly all of the power whereas the supercar is only ever at 50%, tops, lest it light the rears up or spin out. Same goes for that video and that Ford or whatever it was. As soon as the track opens up and it's safe to unleash its power the Ferrari gets past. What's the problem?

Its a slightly less severe version of what happened to me. I was in a race on Circuit De La Sarthe. I was in the back of the pack and there was a Ferrari F430 ahead of me. In front of the Ferrari there was a Subaru WRX and a Ford Focus. The Ferrari stayed behind these two the entire race, even when there is a massive straightaway. I think this proves the AI is completely useless and cant drive for 🤬

That's a much better example than that Willow Springs video.

I think it's because they're not programmed to race eachother. They're programmed to be in your way as you chase the rabbit. This has to change but this isn't the thread for that.

the weirdest thing i saw was at the beggining of a race, I saw an A.I do a dead stop in the turn in of the first corner and stayed stoped all through the race in the same spot. o_O

I heard of a similar thing happening all the way back in GT3... the AI just parking itself during an endurance race (bring them back PD!) and staying there until it got punted.

Oh come on, the AI was hardly using the car at all and it wasn't that twisty. In the corners he was tiptoeing around, nowhere near the bumper of the car ahead giving up several hundred HP and lateral grip. At 0:25 there is a HUGE gap for him to power up the inside but instead it completely lifts of and coasts in behind it. With that power advantage it could have even drove around the outside a few times.

Not to mention even when he did enter the straight he hit the brakes twice (52/53) to avoid the car rather than just pull to the inside right away. Then finally at 0:56 for a split second it even though about pulling back in behind the Ford, before something told it it didn't need to. That is a total fail.

It's just being ridiculously cautious. As I said above they're programmed to get in your way, not race eachother.

The dumbest thing I've seen so far would be when I was doing the redbull fan car challenge and vettel drove off into the sand and failed horribly.

Reminds me of my first GT5
b-spec driver.

I've forgotten which race it was, but at Monza, an AI car got stuck in 1st gear for ages after the first chicane....

A Massive Pileup on the 24 Minutes of Spa. I was 1st place and when I was pit-stoping, I noticed the car behind me got stuck in to the pits, As I watched the replay in laughter, the Toyota GT-One, and the other LMP cars were crashing in-to each other in that race, One even flew in to the air lol,

Has to have been the 20 Lap (?) Enduro on Brands Hatch...

The very first turn was merciless on the AI once their tires wore out... I counted at least five times where the AI would wreck in the turn because they had no grip lest.

I was doing some race at Fuji, trying to get that trophy for overtaking the leader very close to the finish line. So I had to go slow enough to keep the leader ahead of me. So I was almost stopping going into a corner, and sure enough the AI cars around me slowed down and almost stopped too.

..........the AI...........

Sometimes they ram my back end and make me spin out. This especially sucks when it happens near the end.

On multiple occasions on multiple course in a full range of vehicles from slow to bullet fast I've seen the following:

AI pitting each other or me.

AI exiting a turn very slowly then coming to a complete stop in the middle of the track before taking off again.

AI exiting a turn very slowly then just coasting or getting stuck in one gear.

AI driving straight into a barrier off course and staying there the entire race.

Pass first to take the lead, finish the race, AI I just passed, now in 2nd place, is marked as 1 lap down but 3rd onward have valid times.

AI brake checking me so often I'd try to knock out someone in the pits after the race.

AI punting me off course.

AI driving completely passively until passed then retaliating by pit or punt.

The AI in GT6 is abysmal almost all the time but every once in a while shows a glimmer of promise then procedes to coast or stop or something as equally stupid.

Unless PD performs a miracle on GT6 I'm done with Gran Turismo and PD. :(

Sark

The dumbest AI mistake I saw was when a car was merely eligible on it's country of origin was entered into a race at Cote D'Azur. I should mention that the car BARELY made it up the first hill (on his first lap) before he was lapped.

2CV? :sly:

Mentioned this one a while ago....

It's not dumb but it isn't coordinative either so maybe that qualifies...

Try it for yourself. Guaranteed (when I do at least [tried it four times]) to work..
